Approximately six years have passed since the broadcast of "Masamune-kun's Revenge," and it will return with a new series in spring 2023. Since so many years have passed since the previous series, I'm sure there are many people who never thought a sequel would be broadcast. The previous series ended without a conclusion, so this is very good news for those who were hoping to see the continuation in anime. With six years having passed, many people may have forgotten what kind of person the heroine was. In this article, let's review the main heroine, Adagaki Aki, and prepare for the new series! Please be aware that there may be spoilers for those who are not familiar with the original work!
What kind of story is it? ?
Eight years ago, Masamune Hayase, who was fat and bullied, planned to take revenge on Aki Adagaki, a young lady who had dumped him and nicknamed him "pig's foot". He lost a lot of weight through dieting and strength training, became a handsome man, and even changed his surname to his grandfather's and returned to his hometown under the name of Masamune Makabe. Now a completely different person from before, Masamune often uses the "dead or love strategy" to make Aki fall in love with him and then dump her in the best way possible. However, Aki's attendant, Yoshino Koiwai, finds out about his past. It seemed like his plan would fail, but she agreed to help him get revenge on Aki. What will be the outcome of the revenge!?
Heroine: Aki Adagaki
The heroine of this work, she is the one who named Masamune "Pig's Foot" 8 years ago. She is rich enough to rent out a movie theater, passed the entrance exam with the highest score, is the most beautiful girl in the school, and has many entourages. She also has a naive side, such as being tricked by Yoshino and going out into the city in the form of an anime character. When she was young, her parents were not on good terms, so she was a mischievous child, and it was around that time that she met Masamune. After her parents divorced, she started to behave seriously, but when Masamune stopped coming, she started hating men and developed the habit of binge eating. Therefore, when she makes Yoshino go out to buy lunch and snacks, she makes her buy them in large quantities. Whenever a male student confesses to her, she thoroughly investigates the person's background, and just as she did with Masamune in the past, she finds flaws and criticizes them harshly, giving them nasty nicknames and rejecting them, which is why she is called the "Cruel Princess". Although she is usually feared by the students who know her personality, she eats lunch alone with her servant Yoshino, fearing that her binge eating will be exposed. At first, she would brush off Masamune's approaches and ignore him, but when he completely ignored her due to Yoshino's plan, she became anxious and showed signs of being embarrassed by Masamune's kindness, so it doesn't seem like she really hates him.
Aiki Adagaki's Past
She protected Masamune, who was a bullied boy, and fought off the bullies, which made Masamune think of her as a hero. However, when he confessed to her afterwards, she gave him the horrible nickname "Pig's Foot" and mercilessly rejected him. Since then, she has established her current style of giving boys who confess to her horrible nicknames and rejecting them. Since Masamune transferred to the school, he had been persistently approaching her, and Yoshino's intervention made her take him seriously (although for Masamune, it was just a strategy for revenge), so she had a fairly good relationship with him. When Masamune saved her from being nearly run over by a car, they became much closer, but when a mysterious beautiful girl named Fujinomiya Neko appeared, her feelings for him disappeared all at once. Although Masamune managed to maintain their relationship through his efforts (I'm not sure if I can call it that), it was still not going well. The day after Masamune visited Neko's house, she heard that he had dumped her and chosen Aiko, and her feelings for him grew again, but she also felt sorry for Neko who had been completely dumped, and her impression of her was no longer negative. When she visited Neko, she was told to "stop being stubborn," and from then on she was torn between her feelings of love for Masamune and her feelings of rejection, and she began to suffer.
The truth behind the pig's trotter incident (spoiler alert!)
Aiki gave Masamune a terrible nickname and dumped him, but there was a truth behind this incident. During the school trip, when they were alone, Aiki reminisced about her childhood memories with Masamune, but she had mistaken Masamune, who was close at the time, for "Masamune Kanetsugu," a classmate who looked similar to the old Masamune, and she even said that she didn't remember saying "pig's trotter," which made Masamune feel uneasy. In fact, Yoshino, jealous of Akihime and Masamune's relationship, disguised herself as Akihime and hurled harsh words at Yoshimune in an attempt to distance herself from Masamune. Akihime wasn't the one who rejected him, so naturally she doesn't remember the nickname "Pig's Feet." Akihime liked Masamune when he was fatter. It's easy to understand why Akihime was so fond of Masamune Kanetsugu. The incident was caused by Yoshino's jealousy, but Yoshino finds herself at the mercy of Akihime, whose personality changes drastically as a result of the incident, and ends up having a hard time.
Voice actor: Ayaka Ohashi
The voice actor for Adagaki Aki is Ayaka Ohashi. She has appeared in various works such as the "Uma Musume" series and the "BanG Dream" series. She is also active as a singer, but in fact, when she was a child, she hated singing in front of people. However, after watching anime in junior high school, she wanted to sing anime songs, and by studying the singing habits of singers while singing, she began to use them in her own songs. After becoming a voice actress and starting her singing career in earnest, she was able to overcome her aversion to singing in front of people. Now, she has a great track record as a singer, receiving praise from composers and winning awards.
Summary of Adagaki Aki
At first glance, Adagaki Aki may seem selfish and twisted, but there is a reason for that, and it's not surprising that she is that way. The scene where the truth is revealed wasn't actually broadcast in the first season, but I think it will be broadcast in the new series. Whether you know the original or not, this scene is a must-see! I'm looking forward to the broadcast. That's all for now. Thank you for reading.
