Introduction to Magia Record
Magia Record Story Introduction
Prologue
Homura Akemi, a magical girl from Mitakihara City, uses her time manipulation ability to repeat the same battle over and over again in search of her ideal ending. She wanted to change the tragic fate of her best friend, Madoka Kaname. While fighting Madoka and Mami Tomoe as usual, Homura attempted to use time stop to finish off the witch. However, a mysterious girl suddenly appeared in the space where time was supposed to have stopped. The girl suddenly disappears, telling her, "If you want to change your fate, come to Kamihama City. In this town, magical girls can be saved." Homura is quite shaken, but senses a possibility that she might be able to save Madoka.
Chapter 1
Iroha Tamaki, the protagonist of "Magia Record," begins to have recurring dreams about a strange girl. Hoping to discover the truth behind these dreams, Iroha visits the emerging city of Kamihama City, which is the source of her dreams. Upon arriving in Kamihama, Iroha learns about a "little Kyubey" from Kaede Akino, a local magical girl. Believing this to be one of the causes, she heads there, but is defeated by a familiar she encounters. Upon waking up, Iroha is introduced to a "tuner" by the magical girl Momoko Totogi. There, she receives tuning from Mitama Yakumo, strengthening her magical powers. However, she realizes that she has forgotten the wish she made when she made a contract with Kyubey. The search for little Kyubey continues, and then Nanami Yachiyo appears. Yachiyo urges Iroha to leave, saying, "A magical girl without sufficient abilities cannot survive in Kamihama," but Iroha refuses. After demonstrating her strength to Yachiyo through battle, she finally obtains little Kyubey. Upon touching little Kyubey, Iroha regains her lost memories. The girl who appeared in her "Dream of a Strange Girl" was none other than her own sister, Tamaki Ui, whose memories she had somehow erased. Upon remembering Ui, Iroha immediately resolves to find her.
Chapter 2
The quickest way to find her sister Ui is to find Ui's best friends, Hiiragi Nemu and Satomi Touka. Iroha decides to search for them. She finds the hospital where they are supposed to be, but they are not there, and her search comes to a halt. When Naka Iroha encounters Hayachiyo, who is feeling down, she learns the truth behind the "rumors." She learns that there are many "rumors" circulating in Kamihama, some of which have come true and are causing harm to people, and that there is also a recent "rumor about the estrangement rule" circulating. Iroha is still not entirely convinced by this story, but when Mizunami Rena and Kaede act according to the rumor, they are attacked by a mysterious monster (a rumor of the estrangement class). With the help of Momoko and Yachiyo, Iroha rescues Rena and Kaede from the monster known as the "rumor." As a token of gratitude for being saved, Rena decides to help search for Ui. Iroha then learns that Nemu and Touka actually exist.
Chapter 3
Thinking that Ui might be caught up in the rumors, Iroha begins investigating the rumors circulating in Kamihama. From there, she meets Tsuruno Yui in the Mina district, where she learns about the "Summoning Shrine Rumor." Since Yachiyo had also been investigating this rumor, Iroha and Tsuruno decide to join forces with Yachiyo to investigate. The three arrive at the shrine in question and battle the rumored Machibitouma, the source of the rumor's reality. However, their magic is ineffective, and they retreat. Suddenly, a mysterious power manifests from Iroha's soul gem. They are able to defeat the rumor, but the mysterious power disappears, and the soul gem's impurity also disappears. Then, Mami Tomoe, a magical girl from Mitakihara City, appears. Mistaking Iroha for a "witch disguised as a human," Mami points a gun at her. Momoko managed to protect Nemu from Mami, but this did not clear up the misunderstanding. However, this battle deepened Iroha and Yachiyo's trust in each other, and they will continue to work together.
Chapter 4
After receiving advice from Tsuruno, Iroha decides to search for Nemu's house in Sankyo Ward. There, she comes across a free water station called the "Owl-Marked Water Station." Drinking the water there causes strange phenomena. When "paper with numbers written on it" begins to fall from the sky, Iroha begins to investigate the strange papers. There, she meets Felicia Mizutsuki and Kyoko Sakura, two magical girls also plagued by the same phenomenon. They decide to work together again to investigate the rumors. Discovering that the source of these rumors is the "Misery Water Rumor," Iroha and her friends attempt to defeat it. However, the "Wings of Magius" appear. These magical girls believed that rumors were essential to "saving magical girls." While defeating Amane Tsukiyo and Amane Tsukisaki of the Wings of Magius, Iroha and the others defeated the source of the rumors, Misery Rhyton. However, Yachiyo's missing childhood friend, Azusa Mifuyu, appears. She was also a member of the Wings of Magius. Unable to come to an understanding with her, they decided to step aside for the time being. However, Yachiyo could not give up on Mifuyu. She renews her resolve to erase the rumors in order to make contact with the Wings of Magius. Furthermore, Iroha begins to suspect that Ui may be connected to the Wings of Magius.
