What Exactly is Mikazuki-sou?

Mikazuki-sou is a mansion that appears in the smartphone app game "Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story." It is a large mansion located in the fictional city of Kamihama and is the home of Yachiyo Nanami. The name of the mansion was officially revealed for the first time during the limited-time event "Mikazuki-sou's Merry Christmas."

It Was a Lodging Facility

Mikazuki-sou was originally a boarding house run by Yachiyo's grandmother. However, Yachiyo later inherited it from her grandmother and initially lived there alone. However, by Chapter 4 of the main story, Tamaki Iroha and Mitsuki Felicia begin living together. In Chapter 5, Futaba Sana also begins living with them. Yui Tsuruno also doesn't quite live with them, but she frequently eats and stays over, so they're essentially semi-cohabiting.
Furthermore, Hosumi Shizuku also lived there for a time, and in the past, Yachiyo's childhood friend Azusa Mifuyu, as well as her teammates Yukino Kanae, Toga Momoko, and Yasuna Mel also frequently came and went. Incidentally, the surnames of all the residents here are pronounced as female names. This is the same as the magical girls in the original Madoka Magica series.

Who are the residents of Mikazuki-sou?

The five members are the landlord, Nanami Yachiyo; her assistant and future team leader, Tamaki Iroha; the personal mercenary, Mizuki Felicia; and the house-warashi, Futaba Sana. Finally, there's Yui Tsuruno, with whom they're semi-residents. From the next section onward, we'll focus on each of them individually.

Team Mikazuki-sou Member 1: Yachiyo Nanami

Yachiyo's Card

She is the main character of this work and one of the five members of "Team Mikazuki-sou." While all magical girls generally have short lifespans, Yachiyo, being the oldest of them all, has a cool, calm, and collected personality. On the other hand, she is very caring and kind to younger members, but can sometimes go too far and become overprotective. Of course, she can be strict at times, but she is generally relied upon by those around her.

She's actually very considerate of her juniors

Perhaps because of her long history of tough battles, she has a dry personality and is sometimes slightly out of sync with her juniors. Her strict attitude can easily lead to misunderstandings.

Team Mikazuki-sou Member 2: Tamaki Iroha

Iroha's Card

She is the protagonist of this work and one of the five members of "Team Mikazuki-sou."

Her family consists of her parents and her younger sister, Tamaki Ui. At the beginning, the family of four lives in a town other than Kamihama City, but by the start of the story, she has forgotten about her sister and believes that they are a family of three. Later, when her father's work forced her parents to move overseas, Iroha transferred to Kamihama City University's affiliated school. At Yachiyo's suggestion, she and Felicia moved in together at Yachiyo's Mikazuki-sou home.

Bright and Serious Personality

She has a bright and serious personality, but she also has a kind-hearted side and can sometimes be overly considerate of those around her. While she appears reserved, she displays inner strength when the time comes, leading Yachiyo to describe her as "timid but stubborn" and "so straightforward it's frightening."

Team Mikazuki-sou Member 3: Felicia Mizuki

Felicia's Card

One of the five main characters, "Team Mikazuki-sou." She uses "ore" (ore) as her first-person pronoun and has a very tomboyish personality. Her father is half-foreign. She calls herself a "mercenary" and works only for "reward." However, she doesn't seem to have a very good reputation. Even though she says "reward," she only receives enough money to survive for one day, reportedly 1,000 yen per battle. She also has a bad habit of readily switching sides if the enemy offers a higher reward during a mission.

Team Mikazuki-sou Member ④ Futaba Sana

Sana's Card

She is one of the five main characters of "Team Mikazuki-sou." According to Yachiyo, she is "in charge of the Zashiki Warashi of Mikazuki-sou." Of course, this is a positive metaphor, as she is a guardian deity, but in reality, ordinary humans who are not magical girls cannot see her. She lacks confidence and is always timid, but she opens up to Iroha. She loves cats, influenced by puppet shows on TV.

Team Mikazuki-sou Member ⑤ Yui Tsuruno

Yui's card
She uses "I" as her first-person pronoun. Although she doesn't live at Mikazuki-sou, she frequently eats and stays over, so it's almost like she's living with them. Her motto is "You won't know until you try," and she has a straightforward, cheerful, and energetic personality. She's not shy and will openly strike up conversations even with people she meets for the first time. She loves to chat, and once she starts talking, she can't stop. She sometimes gets so engrossed in conversation that she forgets to take a breath. She's energetic, cheerful, and straightforward.

Is she actually smart?

Although she may seem like a dorky character, she's actually a quick-witted, top-performing student. Tsukiyo Amane also describes her as "dangerous because she's so smart." However, she's not good at thinking through the details.
