The second season of Made in Abyss, Kaerazu of the Fiery Sun, will begin airing in July 2022. The series follows the first season, which depicts the beginning of the adventure and Riko's encounter with Nanachi, and the new movie, which depicts her confrontation with Bondrewd, the merciless character emblematic of the series. The story centers around the adventure in the Sixth Layer of the Abyss, the City of No Return. This article will introduce the Sixth Layer of the Abyss.
Sixth Layer of the Abyss: Overview of the City of No Return
This is the setting for Riko and her friends' adventure in Season 2, and is included in volumes 6 and beyond of the manga. The depth ranges from 13,000m to 15,500m. To travel, it is possible to activate the "Altar of the Deep Sea," a relic located at the frontline base (Ido Front). However, from this point onward, there is essentially no turning back due to the upward pressure, so this is commonly referred to as the "Last Dive."
Caution! About the upward pressure of the Sixth Layer of the Abyss
The upward pressure of the Sixth Layer of the Abyss results in loss of humanity or death. Those who lose their humanity are called "Narihake" and are often transformed into lumps of flesh that are unable to communicate. However, it seems that behind this powerful curse is a blessing that bestows power upon the cursed. If the curse can be avoided or mitigated somehow, it is possible to acquire superhuman powers while retaining reason and will.

A gigantic creature that inhabits the Sixth Layer. Its scales release irritating poison when force is applied, and its claws instantly harden upon impact. It spits out a mixture of particles stored in its internal organs and secretions. When it explodes on impact, it unleashes a heat wave of stone and metal particles, causing severe damage to the surrounding area.
Kuongatari Danger Level: ★★★★★ (Unreasonable)
A winged insect that inhabits the Sixth Layer of the Abyss. It mimics the flower fields of Tokoshiekou that swarm in the Abyss, implanting its form in nearby creatures and turning them into nurseries. Originally a creature from the Sixth Layer, it has somehow expanded its influence to the flower fields of the Fourth Layer.
Water Elephant - Danger Level: Unknown
A gentle creature that lives near geothermal energy. Freshly laid eggs are said to be delicious. The muscles of partially hatched eggs do not break down when boiled, so they move around in the mouth, but they are delicious.
The Sixth Floor of the Abyss: A Famous Spot in the City of No Return: Iruburu, the Village of the Lost
This village is home to many lost beings, some of whom speak the official language and are able to communicate with one another. Values are exchanged within the village, and the more an individual values something, the more valuable it is. The village can see the desires of others through their soul signals, so it knows what an individual values and cannot lie.
Horror! Those who steal the value of others will face a brutal reckoning.
The act of stealing the value of others is the most severe punishment in the village. Anyone who steals something valuable will have black tentacles appear out of nowhere and begin to steal something precious to them. If the value of what they steal is not enough, even a part of their body will be taken away.
