It is a science fiction comedy that depicts the interactions between aliens and Earth's animals, and many people have been waiting for it to be made into an anime because of its unusual combination and fun. In addition to the main character, Liza, there are many other characters with strong animal-related quirks, so I would like to introduce them in this article!
Introduction: What kind of story is it?
The space empire "Azathoth" had a developed civilization and controlled many planets. Lisa Luna, a member of the interstellar research team, came to Earth to investigate the planet as a preliminary step to the invasion. After landing on Earth, Lisa was shocked at the low level of civilization. However, at a cafe where she stopped for a meal, she encountered a creature that was "too cute" to imagine on other planets in the universe. The creature's true identity was a "cat." What will happen to Lisa after this shocking encounter with a cat?
Mukai Seiji
He is a male employee at the cat cafe "nyanday" and is 19 years old. She has a relatively large Maine Coon cat named Emily. She was in charge of serving Liza when she visited Nyanday and encountered the cat for the first time. During that time, she talked to the alien Liza about cats. Although she is generally a serious person, she is a "cat extremist" with some slightly extreme views, such as positioning cats as superior to humans. Even at the cat cafe, she maintains a cat-first stance.
Kasumi Yanagi
A female employee at the cat cafe "nyanday", she is 20 years old. Although she works at a cat cafe, she is actually a dog person. Her pet is a golden retriever named "Masamune". For Liza, she is a good friend who gives various advice about Earth's creatures and pet culture. She often accompanies Liza when she goes out. She is often at the mercy of the strange behavior of various aliens, especially Liza, and often plays the role of the straight man, so she has a common sense position. In the story, he is the first human to visit a spaceship and is trusted by the members of the research team.
Garumi Ruu
He is a 12-year-old researcher on the interstellar research team and is a junior of Riza. He has horns (hardened hair) growing from both sides of his head. When he first came to Earth, he was unable to control his powers when he saw cute creatures and would go out of control, but after living on Earth, he gradually improved. Seeing the relationship between Liza and Yozora made her want to live with a pet herself, and so she adopted a rabbit she named "Hinata" from a rabbit cafe. Garumi ends up keeping Hinata in the same room as a character named Luster (described below). The rabbit is a Holland Lop, and was abandoned by its previous owner and taken in by Garumi and Luster. It doesn't have much contact with others, and prefers to stay still in the corner of the room, and Luster seems to feel a sense of affinity with it.
Luster Cole
A researcher in the Interstellar Research Team, he is a junior of Riza and is 12 years old. He has an eye on his forehead in addition to both eyes, making him a boy with three eyes. He has an allergic constitution that makes him sneeze uncontrollably when he sees cats or rabbits, which is what is known as an animal allergy. He has a rather introverted personality and feels an affinity with his pet "Hinata", who is similar to himself.
Amato Roy
He is the co-captain of the spaceship and is 21 years old. He has had a brother-sister relationship with Liza since childhood, and has absolute trust in her actions. He has a serious and calm personality, and from the information Liza conveys to him, he believes that "cats" are terrifying creatures that pose a threat to humans on Earth. Although he has not seen a cat since the misunderstanding was cleared up, his image of cats seems to have improved considerably, as he likes the cat goods that Liza brought back from Earth and uses them in his room. Later, a cyborg named "Mecha Yozora" was created based on Yozora. It can speak and sometimes shows strong rivalry towards the real Yozora. After learning about Yozora's ecology through AI, it was retrieved by the spaceship and was initially kept free on the ship, but Amato became its owner by treating him like Liza in order to gain experience as a pet cat.
Fianna Tieri
A 24-year-old woman who serves as the communications chief of the research team. She is very skilled at linguistic analysis, having completed translation of all Earth languages in seven days, and is like an older sister to the members of the expedition. After seeing Yozora at Riza's request, she became obsessed with cats and occasionally visits Earth, but was hurt by the fact that cats in general did not pay her the attention she wanted. Later, she proposed to keep Earth creatures on the spaceship, and was given a Pomeranian named "Riku".
Azuma Mitsuhiko
He is the grandfather of Yanagi Kasumi and her cousin Sasara. She is a hamster lover and has a pet Djungarian hamster named Mitsuro. Her granddaughter Sasara, who lives with her, is a hedgehog lover and they often argue over pets. If you and your grandchild like different animals, you're likely to get into some kind of argument.
Azuma Sasara
Kasumi's cousin and a junior high school student. She is a hedgehog lover and has a four-toed hedgehog named Negimaru. She has a strong personality that is not shaken even in front of extraterrestrials or creatures from space. Like young people today, they often use the word "cute" to describe things, such as "Yurukawa" (relaxed cute) or "Poorly cute".
Summary of Characters Other Than the Protagonist
In addition to the protagonist, there are many other characters with unique personalities and strong quirks.
