"Kanojo mo Kanojo" is classified as a romantic comedy, but the characters, both male and female, have such strong personalities that the comedy portion of the romantic comedy takes up a significant portion of the film. As a result, rather than moving scenes, it's chock-full of slightly incomprehensible, hilarious, and confusing moments. So, this time, we'll be introducing everything from memorable scenes featuring the heroine's cuteness to hilarious scenes that will make you ask, "How on earth did this happen?"
Nagisa leaves two lunch boxes and heads to the bathroom
Nagisa was an extremely clumsy child, and was below average in everything she did, from academics to sports to fashion sense. Despite this, she made up for her shortcomings with extraordinary effort. Among them, the only talent Nagisa has managed to develop is cooking! No matter how hard he tried, Nagisa's progress was below average, but his cooking skills have improved above average. Using his cooking skills, which are his only special talent, Nagisa has been making lunch boxes for the three of them since the first day they started living together. However, in order to hide his cheating, Nagisa finds it annoying to be with them, so he hands the lunch boxes to the two of them and says with a smile, "I'll eat alone in the bathroom..." as he tries to leave. This makes Naoya and Saki burst into tears. They decide to eat together in secret.
The scene where Naoya gets punched
In this work, the protagonist's two-timing leads to various storylines, but no matter how earnest and good he is, he's still a two-timing man. He often tries to justify his two-timing with nonsensical theories, and there are quite a few frustrating scenes to watch (lol). Saki's iron fisting is what relieves that frustration! She's the only character in the work who makes harsh comments, but given the protagonist, I'm sure many people find it refreshing to watch.
A scene where Saki looks happy as she dominates Nagisa
Saki, who thought she couldn't beat Nagisa in terms of style or cuteness, finally discovered something she excels in. It's online games where you defeat enemies with a gun. Nagisa is a clumsy girl who can't do things at an average level without putting in extra effort, so even after playing 1,000 hours of games, she's still incredibly bad at them. Saki devotes herself to playing Nagisa's caregiver role. Nagisa seemed apologetic for being such a hindrance at one point, but Saki found it cute and seemed pleased to finally be able to take the upper hand for the first time, even if it was just a game. (Nagisa's expression seemed complicated, though.)
The scene where Naoya chases Mirika, who has taken up residence in the garden
Naoya tries to sell the camping set while Mirika is away in order to get her out of the garden. Mirika notices and tries to stop him, but Naoya is willing to pay her 1 million yen to get her to leave. When Mirika asks why he's going to such lengths, Naoya replies with a desperate look on his face, "I'll do anything for the two of you!" Seeing this, the easy-going Mirika falls for Naoya. In the end, this only fuels Mirika's enthusiasm, and Naoya, in turn, adds fuel to the fire. Saki and Nagisa's fears that Mirika might fall in love with Naoya become a reality.
The Scene Where Mirika Completely Falls
Even to Saki and the others, Mirika's face clearly resembles that of a girl in love. Saki was wary of Naoya as he would come over to check on her at school, but Naoya said, "Let's talk properly," and the two went to the roof. (At this point, she was about to fall for him when he called her "Rika-san.") On the roof, she formally rejected Mirika, saying she couldn't reciprocate her feelings, but she was completely smitten with Naoya, and whatever he said just translated into "cool" and "wonderful." When he said, "I can't fall in love and have three girlfriends at the same time," she looked pleased and said, "It looks like he's interested." Then, when they were alone later, she finally said with her own mouth, "I really love Naoya," admitting her feelings.
Mirika is also cute after realizing she likes him
When she first appeared, Mirika was a tsundere character, but after realizing she liked Naoya, she basically became a deredere character. She's still as harsh as ever to those around her, but to Naoya, she thinks he's "cool" no matter what he does. Incidentally, this comment was made in response to Naoya, who is a studious student who spends all his time studying but doesn't get very good grades. From Mirika's perspective, even if studying doesn't produce results, just working hard makes him look cool.
The scene where Saki and Nagisa embarrassedly say "I love you" in public
A few days after Mirika stole his first kiss, the three of them decide to go on a hot spring trip to further deepen their friendship. On the train, Naoya, without a second thought, loudly proclaims his love for the two of them. When they react hesitantly, worried about what others think, Naoya begins to worry that they might dislike him. To ease his worries, the two of them shyly say, "I love you, but..." together, and it's incredibly cute! However, it was also a scene that made me think, "What are these three doing with so many customers?" (lol)
Mirika and Naoya's First Kiss
If there's one development in this manga that I could ever have imagined would be this kissing scene. Since they were both maintaining a balance between cheating and being in a relationship under the promise of "not doing anything erotic," it seemed like a kissing scene was still a long way off...or even dragged on until the final episode. However, Naoya's kissing moment was easily stolen by someone unexpected. The kissing partner was Mirika, who wasn't even his girlfriend, and after confessing his love to her, he impulsively stole her first kiss. Despite being Naoya's girlfriend, Saki and Nagisa witness Naoya's first kiss being stolen right before their eyes.
Mirika looks cool even as she leaves
Mirika always gets nervous and messy, but right after the kiss, she leaves the gym storage room with a rather cool catchphrase. While Saki and Nagisa tolerate two-timing, Mirika flatly refuses to date three people at once. "If you want to date me, make sure you dump Saki and Nagisa first," she warns, pointing her finger at them. I think one of Milika's charms is that she can forcefully steal a kiss even when she's not her girlfriend, and always speaks lines like this with a condescending attitude.
The scene where Saki stops Naoya
Saki usually plays the straight man. She loves cute girls, and in the story she frequently calls them "cute," but this scene reminded me that "when I think about it, Saki is cute too." The speech bubble was changed for the comic book release, but in the original, she stops Naoya, who is about to leave the room, saying, "Don't go...!" until he gets changed. (He was worried that Mirika would take advantage of the opportunity and steal her away.) She was an undeniably beautiful girl, with perfect facial expressions, lines, and actions. Plus, her skirt was almost coming off!
Five Minutes with Mirika and Naoya in the Bath
Mirika secretly tagged along on Naoya's hot spring trip, and for some reason, they ended up bathing together. He was actually chasing Nagisa, who was in the bathroom, but Mirika caught him and they ended up talking for five minutes. They talked about each other and Mirika was delighted when she revealed that Naoya had been following her YouTube activities. It was only five minutes, but she beamed with delight, exclaiming, "It's so much fun!!" At the end, there's the obligatory bath towel ripping off, making it a fantastic moment for Mirika fans.
Is it in?! Or not?! Did you spot Naoya and Shibano having a rendezvous?!
After finally reuniting at the inn, Saki and Nagisa head to the bathroom to hide from Mirika and Shibano. However, what caught their eye in the bathroom was Shibano straddling Naoya, whose pants were already off. Seeing this, Saki, distraught, screams, "It's completely in!!" Shibano, for her part, replies, "It's not in!!" Naoya embraces the naked Shibano, saying, "You can see a lot," while Nagisa takes photographs of the scene, creating a chaotic situation. Incidentally, a similar situation occurs again as the story progresses, and the same exchange takes place.
Kanojo mo Kanojo: A Compilation of Famous Scenes
So far, we've introduced some of the memorable scenes from the opening game. What did you think? While I was introducing it, it seemed like there were a lot of Milika elements...but there are also plenty of other cute scenes with the heroine, as well as some slightly confusing scenes that are a bit hard to understand, so be sure to check out the anime!
