"Kaguya-sama: Love is War" will begin its second season in April. It's such a popular anime that the first season is being rebroadcast, and anticipation for the second season is high. One of the things that makes Kaguya-sama so entertaining is its many funny scenes. So, I've ranked the funniest scenes from the first season, based on my own personal opinion!
Funniest Scene #1: "Kaguya-sama Wants to Hold Back (Episode 7, Part C of the anime)"
In middle school, Shinomiya Kaguya had such a cold, aloof personality that she was nicknamed "Ice Princess Kaguya." Fujiwara and Kaguya have been friends ever since, and Fujiwara says it's his dream to one day see Kaguya laughing out loud. Fujiwara then says that even Kaguya laughs when she sees his dog, Pes, perform tricks. "It's amazing! Pes's penis!" The moment Fujiwara says this, Kaguya spits out the tea she was drinking.
Dreams come true
Kaguya, a sheltered girl who is detached from the real world, has begun to acquire sexual knowledge due to her past mistakes, but her sense of humor remains at the lower elementary level. That's why she couldn't stop laughing when Fujiwara said "penis," a vulgar joke on an elementary school student level. If it continued like this, Fujiwara's dream would come true with "penis," and the Shinomiya family would be shamed for generations to come. She tried to hold back, but it was no use! Kaguya gave in to Fujiwara's repeated chanting of "penis," and brought shame upon the Shinomiya family for generations to come.
Funniest Scene #2: "Shirogane Miyuki Wants to Go Out (Anime Episode 10, Part C)"
Summer vacation is approaching, and Shirogane and Kaguya want to plan a trip for the summer vacation they once missed. But if they bring it up themselves, it'll be tantamount to a confession (a stylistic beauty), and such a cute thing is impossible! So they turn the conversation to Fujiwara, but Fujiwara, contrary to their expectations, says he's going on a trip to Hawaii.
Would they really do something so cruel?
Unable to rely on Fujiwara any longer, Shirogane racks his brains trying to think of a way to invite Kaguya out, but no matter how hard he tries, he always ends up thinking, "How dare you?" Surprisingly, it was Ishigami who helped Shirogane out of his utterly hopeless situation. With Ishigami's suggestion, it seemed like they could make plans to go to the summer festival, but Fujiwara suddenly says he can't go because he has plans for the Tomato Festival. Fujiwara tearfully pleads, "Are you going to do something so cruel as to leave me alone and have everyone go to the summer festival?"
Well, I'll just go.
Such a statement makes both Shirogane and Kaguya hesitate. However, Ishigami responds with a blunt, "Well, I'll just go." In fact, Fujiwara bluntly tells him it's ridiculous that they shouldn't go when everyone else is enjoying the Tomato Festival. Fujiwara runs away crying, and Ishigami regrets what he's done, but Shirogane and Kaguya praise him.
Funniest Scene #3: "Shirogane Miyuki Wants to Show Off (Anime Episode 5, Part B)"
One day after school, Shirogane was practicing his serve alone in the rented gym. While he wasn't physically weak, his athleticism was hopelessly lacking, making him look like a dying alpaca. If his classmates or Kaguya were to see him like this, it would be considered "cute." While Shirogane was practicing to avoid that, Fujiwara happened to appear in front of him.
The Legendary Creature Shirogane
Shirogane, embarrassed, asks Fujiwara for instruction, and Fujiwara readily agrees. However, Shirogane is even more of a failure than Fujiwara expected, and his athletic ignorance has reached the level of a creature. Despite being completely worn out, Fujiwara and Shirogane overcome each challenge, and Shirogane gradually moves beyond the creature level. Their efforts finally pay off, and Shirogane finally masters the serve. However, as Fujiwara, completely exhausted and thinking he'd finally finished, Shirogane smiled refreshingly and said in despair, "Next, teach me how to toss and receive."
No, never again.
After that, Shirogane became so successful in volleyball class that he was a star. And there, there, he saw Fujiwara, completely exhausted and crying. Fujiwara was sorry that he'd never let something like that happen again, but he had no idea that this was the beginning of a nightmare.
Funniest Scene #4: "Shirogane Miyuki Hasn't Done It Yet (Anime Episode 3, Part A)"
According to a teen magazine confiscated from a student, data showed that one in three high school students has already had their first sexual experience. Shirogane and Fujiwara, both inexperienced, chuckle, saying there's no way that ratio could be that high. Then, Kaguya drops a bombshell: "I think that's a reasonable ratio." And what's more, she adds that she's already had it.
More Bombshells Drop
Shirogane, who is overwhelmingly outnumbered by Kaguya, tries to cover up his lack of romantic experience. However, Kaguya drops a shocking bombshell: "The president has a sister, so I thought he was going wild with her." She continues with more bombshells, including that her newborn nephew filmed them having sex and pretending to be her, and that Fujiwara is constantly masturbating.

However, the two of them soon realize that their conversations are completely off-topic. Kaguya is a sheltered girl with no sexual knowledge whatsoever! She's so innocent that she thinks her first experience is just a kiss. So, Fujiwara explains to Kaguya what her first experience is. And 16 minutes later, this is the expression on her face.
Funniest Scene #5: "Hayasaka Ai Wants to Soak (Anime Episode 11, Part A)"
During summer vacation, Kaguya made plans to hang out with Shirogane, but since they all assumed Shirogane would invite her, nothing much developed and she spent her summer vacation aimlessly. Then, Hayasaka tells her that Shirogane has a Twitter account. However, Shirogane's account is private and requires an approval request. However, sending an approval request herself is nothing more than a cute gesture of sympathy for the president.
Is this a new idiot?
Kaguya cannot tolerate such behavior, but Hayasaka dismisses it, saying, "Are you the new idiot?" Hayasaka tries to send an approval request on Kaguya's behalf, but Kaguya's pride ultimately prevents her from doing so, and she comes up with the idea, "I'll just make my account private and ask the president to follow me," but Hayasaka dismisses this, saying, "You should realize this already. I've never had success with that pattern." Even so, she's still a genius.
[Kaguya-sama: Love is War] Summary of Funny Scenes
Kaguya-sama: Love is War is an anime with a sharp sense of humor and plenty of hilarious scenes! The scene where "Oh, how cute!" comes out and Ishigami cuts Fujiwara to shreds are especially funny. The second season will also feature many hilarious scenes, so if you're looking for a heartfelt laugh, I highly recommend checking it out. Season 2 of Kaguya-sama will begin airing in April!
