The cast of "I Quit Being a Hero" has finally been announced on the anime's official website, and we're excited for the anime adaptation. We're curious to see what unique characters will appear. So, this time, we'll be introducing a sneak peek at the characters who have appeared in the first five volumes of the manga, from older women to muscle-brained characters and lolitas.
Leo Demonheart
The protagonist of this work is a "former" hero. After being rejected by the humans he had protected until then, he left the human world and ended up at a job interview at the Demon King's Castle. He wasn't originally human, but a biological weapon created 3,000 years ago, and is characterized by his special ability to grow stronger through combat. Having become so powerful, she finds her human allies a hindrance and fights the Demon King's army alone, ultimately winning. She's the one who brought the Demon King's army to the brink of collapse, leaving the Demon King Echidna with a terrible impression. She's immediately rejected during the recruitment exam, but she later changes her attitude and joins the Demon King's army. She steadily reforms the Demon King's army for the better, starting with tutoring the Four Heavenly Kings.
Echidna
The main heroine of this work, Echidna, the strongest Demon King in the demon world. Although she looks like a young girl, this is only because she was "punished" after being defeated by the hero Leo, and in reality she is a mature woman with a nice body. Although she is the Demon King, she is a kind boss who cares for her subordinates, and thinks not only of her comrades but also of her human enemies, and her motto is to invade without unnecessary bloodshed. Her only goal is the Philosopher's Stone, and she tells her subordinates in her speeches not to engage in pointless conflicts. Despite her appearance, she is a big fan of alcohol. At first she drinks from a glass, but as she drinks more she will pick up a bottle and start drinking straight from the bottle. She hates Leo and would never listen to what he has to say, but as the story progresses they reconcile and become strong partners.
Stina
A genius magician and one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King's Army, known as the Demon General. Due to her earnest personality, she overloads herself with work and is always on the verge of death from overwork. Since Leo joined the Demon King's Army, she has become more efficient and has more time to spare, but she still leads the busiest days in the Demon King's Army. As a succubus, she excels at seducing men with her outstanding figure. With her special item, she can even charm Leo into becoming her obedient servant. However, despite her strength in seme, her weakness as a uke is a flaw. She's a naive succubus who easily gets flustered over minor issues and blushes bright red when Leo tries to kiss her.
Lili
She's one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King, a beast general and a pseudo-beastman in charge of the logistics department. She looks childish, and her personality is just as childish. Although she's in charge of the logistics department, she's not the right person for the job, and her management is a complete mess, leading to Leo's help. She once lost her memory, which is when she first encountered Leo. Leo, unaware that Lili was one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King's army, continued to work together on missions for a while. However, when Lili regained her memories, a battle ensued, and she was easily defeated. Following in the footsteps of her tribe's bloodline, which is drawn to strong men, she fell in love with Leo, and even after Leo joined the Demon King's army, she continued to press him for marriage. During battles, she transforms into the divine wolf Fenrir.
Melnes
One of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King, this half-human, half-demon assassin is known as the Shadowless General. In addition to his work as one of the Four Heavenly Kings, he also serves as the head of the Assassin's Guild in the human world. While officially considered male, he possesses a feminine face and a delicate build. During his communication training with Leo, he dressed as a waitress, but from every angle, he exuded the air of a beautiful young woman. He's always quiet, making it hard to tell what he's thinking, and at first, Leo found him the most difficult to deal with.
Edvart
One of the Four Heavenly Kings, he is a human swordsman known as the Dragon General. Though human, he boasts unparalleled defensive power thanks to his hard dragon scales. He oversees the combat department of the Demon King's army. A muscle-brained character with a Spartan upbringing, he wasn't the best leader, but thanks to a plan from Leo and his daughter Julietta, he changed his mind and has since become a boss loved by his subordinates. He boasts high levels of both defensive and offensive power, and is such a powerful warrior that Leo had the most difficulty facing him out of all the Four Heavenly Kings. In terms of strength alone, it is said that he is on a par with the Demon King Echidna, but Edvard himself has no interest in the position of Demon King, prioritizing time with his daughter Julietta, who is also his aide-de-camp.
Dianet
A dark elf girl who is Stina's subordinate and whom Leo found in town and entrusted with Stina's work. Since she's such a minor character, there weren't any reference images available, so I'm introducing her using an image of her master, Stina (fake). She has a very earnest personality, and it seems she wanted to help Stina, who seems busy every day. When she was told she could help Stina, she happily accepted the job.
Julietta
She is the daughter of the Four Heavenly Kings, Edvard, and also serves as his adjutant. Unlike her strict and muscle-brained father, she is intelligent and considerate of her subordinates. When Edvard's soldiers couldn't keep up with his methods, she was the first to come to Leo for advice. Her acting skills are also excellent, and even when she staged a show with Leo to reform Edvard, she was completely successful without revealing any flaws. When she happens upon Leo and Echidna in a romantic moment, she blushes and looks away. While she's a reliable lieutenant, she also has a naive side.
Canaan
A sorcerer known as a Cursemaker, Canaan is Stina's apprentice. Like Stina, she is a succubus, but due to her young appearance, she doesn't appear to have been blessed with the talents of that family. She is easily overwhelmed and defeated by Leo, but after picking up the Philosopher's Stone, the heart of Virgo, her magical powers skyrocket. Her body screams in agony due to the overwhelming magical power, but thanks to Virgo's super-healing abilities, she's still able to move. (Without super-healing, her bones would break and her internal organs would be destroyed.) Despite being a succubus, she has no interest in men, and only has feelings for her master, Stina. She peeks into bathtubs and gets excited by strange delusions, demonstrating a perverted personality that belies her appearance.
Virgo
One of the 12 people created as biological weapons (Demon Heart Series) like Leo, she is like a brother to Leo. Unlike Leo, who was an honor student, he has a warlike personality and loves to fight. His special ability is super recovery, and even if his arms or legs are torn off, they will grow back in an instant. Although he may appear to have a barbaric personality at first glance, he also cares for his comrades, and will be the first to take the lead on dangerous missions, forcing his comrades and other humans to attack or evacuate from a safe location. After losing his body and spending time unable to move, he is revived when he meets Canaan, who is on the same wavelength as him. He eventually takes over Canaan's body and is revived, fighting Leo. After Canaan regains his sanity with the arrival of Stina, he is expelled from his body and begins living out his life as a vessel for a special doll made by Canaan.
Johan
The town of Finoi, part of the Kingdom of Yris, is a place where high-quality magic stones are mined, and has been targeted by various countries. To protect the town from these enemies, Fort Witen was built. A young man named Johan arrived there as a soldier six months ago. When the fort was attacked by a blackened dragon, he fought a defensive battle until the very end, narrowly escaping death thanks to the help of Leo and Lili. Johan realized that Leo, who had come to his rescue with the Demon King's army, was a hero, but he insisted that even if he had sided with the Demon King, he was a good person. After that, the Demon King's army and the Kingdom of Iris established diplomatic relations and developed a friendly relationship.
Character Summary
So far, we've introduced the characters appearing in the first five volumes of the manga. What did you think? It's unclear whether the series will be adapted after Canaan, but I can't wait to see the characters who played an active role in the manga in action in the anime.
