"Hypnosis Mic" is a rap battle music project featuring 12 male voice actors. It's become incredibly popular recently! Teams divided into four divisions (areas) battle for their respective territories. Their weapon is the "Hypnosis Mic," which can interfere with minds. With authentic rap songs and charming characters, this genre is rapidly gaining fans every day. In this article, we'll introduce the top 5 best songs from "Hypnosis Mic," or "HypMic" for short! We've also included excerpts from memorable lyrics, so be sure to find your favorite phrases.

#1 Best Song Ranking: "Hypnosis Mic -Division Battle Anthem-"

Let's start with this song. It's an anthem, and its views on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga have skyrocketed. The lyrics are so cool! They're so addictive! So, I find myself replaying it over and over again. Each character is carefully selected, making it easy to convey their charm.

"The pen is better than the sword" by Hypnosis Mic

This phrase, familiar to fans, appears in the chorus of this song. I don't really understand the meaning, but it's something along the lines of "think, feel." It's a catchy phrase with a strong impact. You'll find yourself saying it out loud.

"Gasha-ndurururuchirinchirinchirin"

"You've got absolutely no thrill like that of Gasha-ndurururuchirinchirinchirin!" This line is also quite famous! It appears in the part featuring the Shibuya Division gambler, Die To Arisugawa. Be sure to check out Nozuyama, who voices Teito, for his energetic rap skills.

#2 on the Best Songs Ranking: "Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle-"

This was the first song released. It really highlights the unique characteristics of each division, so if you're new to Hypnosis Mic, we recommend starting with this one. It's highly addictive, so once you hear it, you won't be able to get it out of your head! Like the anthem, the PV, which showcases the voice actors, is also worth checking out.

"Look at my tongue. I'm Michelangelo."

First, here's Yamada Jiro's part. It's memorable, isn't it? He continues, "The second son who traced Ichiro's torso, in other words, the Lime clone who inherited the strongest genes." You can see his respect for his older brother, Ichiro.

"Do you want to be the headline for 'Anger Middle-Aged Man'?"

This is the shouting part of the hugely popular character, Kannonzaka Doppo. If you actually listen to the song, you might be surprised at first, as it's so powerful it's like, "What the hell?!" Doppo's shouts are popular, so he often shouts in other songs as well. He's exhausted from his salaryman life and likely filled with pent-up frustration. He's 29 years old, and is often referred to as "middle-aged" throughout the story (and even says it himself).

#3 Best Song Ranking: "WAR WAR WAR"

This song features a serious battle between the Ikebukuro Division and the Yokohama Division. Their rap battles showcase their unique charms. It leaves a different impression from their solo songs and anthems.

"Kids, go home and get some sleep!"

These lyrics appear in Iruma Juu Tou's part in the Yokohama Division. "I can't act cool without my big brother. Just faking it with the heat isn't funny. You can't beat us with that kind of rap. Kids, go home and get some sleep!" These are words directed at Jiro (and Saburo). Jiro is a high school student and hates being treated like a child. Since this is a fight, they continue to escalate the situation.

"You guys have such a dreamy mind." "Then I'll give you some chrysanthemums."

This is a conversation between Yokohama's Busujima Mason Riou and Ikebukuro's Saburo. "We've already won, ALRIGHT?!" Jiro asks. Riou replies, "What do you mean, ALRIGHT? A chance has arrived (headshot)! You guys are living in a world of dreams." Saburo then replies, "Then I'll give you some chrysanthemums (that suit you). I wonder if you'll go to hell after you die (bye-bye)."

#4 Best Song Ranking: "BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE"

Honestly, this song is tied with "WAR WAR WAR" for a spot on the list! It's a fight between the Shibuya Division and the Shinjuku Division, and it's also pretty intense! However, while "WAR WAR WAR" was a head-on battle! It felt like a serious fight! This one is a little different. It's characterized by a sharp diss, as if it were verbally disparaging the other team.

"I'm not a pet with a collar."

These are the words Ditou uttered to Doppo. "You're just a salaryman, after all," "You're less than a rapper here," and "Money and victory don't come without risk." For the gambling-addicted Ditou, the salaryman Doppo is the complete opposite. By the way, the "collar" mentioned here refers to Doppo's tie (or the employee ID card he always wears around his neck), and is an insult to the corporate slave for being a "company dog." However, because Teito ends up homeless if he gambles too much, he also has a side to him that quickly becomes attached to people who give him food... which makes you want to say, "No, it's a pet, isn't it?"

"Shibuya Fling Posse, let's take the King title and go wild again!"

This is the part where the three Shibuya members sing. It's so touching, isn't it?! While the rap battle is a decisive battle, each division is so compelling that you'll want to root for them. You'll find yourself rooting for everyone! That's one of the defining features of Hypnosis Mic.

Best Song Ranking #5: "Shinjuku Style ~Don't Make Me Laugh~"

This song is sung by the three members of the Shinjuku Division. The lyrics were written by "Rappagariya," who also appeared as a guest on Niconico Live Broadcast. As it was the last song released for each division, it has an overwhelming final-boss feel. While each division is unique, the lyrics of this song truly express the "nightlife of Shinjuku." The impact of the title, "~Don't Make Me Laugh~," is incredible.

"Haha, don't make me laugh. Be careful what you say and do in front of Matenro."

This is Doppo's part. He continues, "Haha, don't make me laugh. Be careful what you say and do in front of Matenro. On the battlefield, you can't hold back on what you say and do. I'll flush the toilet for you, some division." Here we get to see Doppo in his assertive form again. Doppo is usually always apologizing and has a corporate slave mentality, but when it comes to rap battles, he becomes assertive, and many fans are taken in by this contrast. Doppo in serious mode is just so cool.

"Buster Bros!!! Mad Trigger Crew Fling Posse, I, Hifumi, will punish them."

This is the part where the normally playful Hifumi appears. He's so cool, isn't he? This might be Hifumi in host mode, wearing a suit. Like Doppo, Hifumi is also drawn to the contrast with his usual self. The hugely popular Matenro is sure to gain even more fans.

"The theory that Shinjuku is the strongest is playing out. It's more powerful than you think."

"The theory that Shinjuku is the strongest is playing out. It's more powerful than you think. It's a one-hit kill. Shinjuku Show Case. Hey! Everyone is wiped out." This part is repeated four times. It's so cool, it gives me goosebumps—it's truly the best. Compared to their other songs, Shinjuku's Division songs are more aggressive, almost murderous, with many aggressive lyrics. While Matenro is a friendly friend, he shows no mercy to his enemies.

Bonus Song Ranking! Their Solo Songs Are Also Fascinating

There are too many great songs to list here, but each solo song is also incredibly captivating! "Ore ga Ichiro" showcases their impressive rap skills, "Sensen Fukukoku" features charming shouts, and "New Star" even samples "Aria on the G String." There's also "Scenario Liar," in which Gentaro talks about his upbringing, and Hifumi's "Champagne Gold," with lyrics by Shingo Fujimori, is sure to get the crowd excited with a champagne call. Singing it at karaoke is guaranteed to be a blast!
