"Hyoukare: Never Call Mystery" is a work currently being serialized in the monthly magazine Flowers, and is pronounced "Mystery to Iu Nare." The story is a mystery, but as the name suggests, it is a little different from your average mystery. There is no search for evidence or uncovering tricks, but rather it is all about conversations, and those conversations go off on tangents. However, it is a slightly strange work in which the truth is sharply revealed through one tangent after another, and it has become a hot topic in many places. I would like to introduce the characters in "Hyoukare: Never Call Mystery."

Character No. 1: The main character with natural curls, "Kunou Tonou"

Kunou Tonou 1

The pronunciation is Kunou Tonou. He is a second-year student studying psychology at university, and is the main character of this work. His biggest feature is his natural curls that look like they've exploded, and he always has a sullen face and doesn't change his expression much no matter what the situation. Perhaps because of this, he has no friends, let alone a girlfriend. However, he doesn't seem to mind at all, and he is a protagonist who is just at his own pace and is difficult to grasp.

A great detective who talks a lot

Kuno Sei 2

He has a sharp mind, a wealth of knowledge, and is a great detective with excellent observation and analytical skills. He is involved in cases that come to him even though he is not particularly trying to get involved, and events that he gets involved in lead to cases. However, even though he has no friends or a girlfriend, he is very talkative and repeatedly engages in small talk that seems unrelated to the case. However, from the person in question, the small talk is a critical topic, and he solves the case by deducing the information he gets from the small talk. However, sometimes he is so critical that he angers them.

Character No. 2: A slightly frivolous police officer who became a father, "Ikemoto Yuto"

Ikemoto Yuto

A young police officer with the rank of constable who met Sei on his first case. He has a light-hearted personality and is a bit frivolous, but he is a kind older brother. His pregnant wife was suffering from severe maternity blues, but after Sei's advice, he thought about reducing her burden with small things, and was grateful that the marital problems were neatly resolved. They exchanged contact information, and even after the case was over, he received advice from him, and he became a liaison between Sei, who is always involved in various incidents, and the police.

Character No. 3: A skilled detective, "Aoto Shigeaki"

Aoto Shigeaki

He is one of the police officers who interrogated Sei in his first case, and holds the rank of sergeant. He is a strict but skilled detective, but he has a history of being demoted for a false accusation. However, he is still convinced that the case was not a false accusation, and is still trying to crack down on a different case. Sei's words, "There are as many truths as there are people, but there is only one truth," lead him to reconsider the false accusation case.

Character No. 4: The only woman in Division 1, "Furomitsu Seiko"

Furomitsu Seiko

A female detective with the rank of constable who Sei met in his first case. She is young and inexperienced, so she is still a half-baked detective, but she is kind, timid, and sensitive. She was worried about her purpose in Division 1 despite being a woman, but Sei's words that it would be harder for the men in the station to commit fraud brighten her up a little. In the first case, Sei's instructions are to name the real culprit and the person who triggered the real culprit's motive for the crime.

Character No. 5: A scary looking police officer, "Otobe Katsunori"

Otobe Katsunori

A police officer who Sei met during his first case, with the rank of constable. Contrary to his tough appearance with a shaved head, he is a father who cares about his family and loves his children. He is a good father who frequently attends school visits and graduation ceremonies, but his daughter treats him badly, calling him dirty and smelly. Sei's words, "Actually, that's a normal reaction," take the edge off.

Character No. 6: Another main character? "Inudo Garo"

Inudo Garo 1

The mastermind behind the bus hijacking incident that happened to happen on the same bus as Rei. He called himself Kumada Sho at first and blended in with the hostage passengers. This strange bus hijacking didn't demand a ransom, but instead asked the passengers various questions. His goal was to find the murderer who murdered his sister, Inudo Aiju. He is handsome and calm, but also shows a playful side. He is just as intelligent as Rei, and is also good at taking action and analyzing.

The culprit has to pay the price

Inudo Garo 2

After tracking down the culprit, Tobacco Mori Makoto, he is given a psychiatric evaluation by the police and there is a possibility that he will not be charged with a crime, so he kills Tobacco Mori and sends his arm to Osamu's apartment. However, he does not hate Osamu, and he accepts him and thinks of him as a friend. Osamu also thinks of him as the only friend he is willing to let into his house. There are also episodes from his perspective, so he is another main character.

Character No. 7: Bus hijacker "Inudo Otoya"

Inudo Otoya

One of the people who hijacked the bus that Sei was on. He is quick to get angry and sometimes acts thoughtlessly, but the planning of the bus hijacking was perfect. The one who planned the incident the most was his cousin Inudo Garo, and he gets angry in the middle of the plan and has to ask his brother Inudo Haya to help him, so he feels a bit inferior to his brother and cousin. The three of them are generally good friends.

Character No. 8: Inudou Otoya's older brother "Inudou Haya"

Inudou Haya

One of the people who attempted the bus hijacking on the bus that Rei was on. At first, he blended in as one of the passengers and called himself Sakamoto Masao, but when his younger brother Otoya got angry at Rei's chatter, he revised his plan and came forward. At that time, he called himself Inudou Garo. After the incident, the three of them killed Tabakomori and disappeared with Garo and Otoya.

Character No. 9: A girl from the notorious Touzyou family, "Touzyou Shioji"

Touzyou Shioji

One of the candidates for the inheritance of the notorious Touzyou family. She meets Sei through an introduction from Inudo Garo. She works with Sei to solve the mystery of the notorious event where someone dies during the inheritance. She is a lively girl with a strong sense of action, but also has a noticeable childish side. In a past inheritance, her father died in an accident, and she believes that the accident was man-made.

Character 10: Mysterious Woman "Laika"

Laika

A woman with a mysterious aura who left a code in the hospital where Sei is hospitalized and in the greenhouse inside the hospital. She is the person who gave Marx's Meditations to hospitalized patient Ushida, and has completely memorized the contents, and has a habit of using Marx's Meditations in code in parts of her conversations. She is a mysterious and mysterious woman who appears and disappears without anyone noticing.

[Hyouka: Mystery] Character Summary

We have introduced the main characters of Hyouka: Mystery. Within this work, there are plot threads that are foreshadowed in future episodes, so I think there is a high chance that it will reappear. As the title "Hyouka" (Haunted Mystery) suggests, 90% of the work is about the protagonist, Kuno Hitoshi, just talking nonstop, but there are also some mystery elements that are firmly foreshadowed, so it will be interesting to see how the characters will interact in the future.
