The first part of the popular anime series "How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom," which began airing in July 2021, is not only captivating for its distinctive characters, but also for the stellar voice actors who voice them. This time, we'd like to introduce the voice actors of these main characters, including what characters they've voiced in the past and what their voices are like.
Soma Kazuya (Kazuya Souma) - Yusuke Kobayashi
The protagonist of this series, Soma Kazuya, is voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi. Kobayashi-san's memorable roles include Natsuki Subaru in "Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World," Ishigami Senkura in "Dr. Stone," Arthur Boyle in "Fire Force," and more recently Shima Tamahiko in "Taisho Otome Otogibanashi." His voice is often heard in recent anime, but he apparently had a long career as an apprentice, and he said in interviews that his experience in acting and on stage is putting him to good use. His cool, quiet voice and the persuasive power of his words when he speaks loudly are what make him so appealing.
Rishia Elfrieden - Minase Inori
Rishia, who appears as Soma's fiancée, is voiced by Minase Inori. Minase is a popular voice actress with countless roles, including Chino in "Is the Order a Rabbit?", Rem in "Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World," and Hestia in "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" Her voice, which combines the cuteness of a classic heroine with feminine strength, was a perfect fit for the role of Rishia. She has also been active as a singer for many years, and the opening theme song, "HELLO HORIZON," has become a song that symbolizes this anime.
Aisha Udgard - Ikumi Hasegawa
Ikumi Hasegawa plays Aisha, the dark elf who supports Soma with her military power. Her voice is well-known in anime and games broadcast this year, including Minami Nanami in "Weak Character Tomozaki-kun" and Miho no Bourbon in "Uma Musume: Pretty Derby." She reportedly joined the agency permanently in April 2021, so we're likely to hear her voice more and more from now on. In the series, Aisha's strength and inadequacies are portrayed even more charmingly thanks to Hasegawa's voice.
Juna Doma - Reina Ueda
Reina Ueda plays Juna, the singer (Lorelei) and the kingdom's idol. She's impressively capable of playing a wide range of characters, from energetic and airheaded characters to shy characters, as seen in "Hanayamata" (Naru Sekiya) and "Bakuon!!" (Hane Sakura). Despite being a newcomer, she left a legacy in the "Tegusa! Bukatsumono" series, where she played 19 roles, earning her the nickname "Unrivaled Ueda." She's also a singer, showcasing her beautiful voice in the insert song "Juna" in the series.
Poncho Panacotta - Masaaki Mizunaka
Masaaki Mizunaka plays the role of Poncho, a food connoisseur who receives high praise from Soma. Mizunaka is known for his cool, masculine voice, as seen in his roles as Diablo in "Another World Magic and Summoned Girl's Slave Magic" and Keisuke Baji in "Tokyo Revengers." This time, his role as Poncho is a complete departure from the usual role of a glutton, but he delivers a brilliant performance, conveying Poncho's cuteness and kindness even more.
Hakuya Kuonmin - Kazuyuki Okitsu
Hakuya, Soma's right-hand man, is voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu. He's a veteran voice actor whose voice can be heard in a variety of anime roles, including Jonathan Joestar in "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," Andre in "Prison School," and Yuki in "The Wind Rises." This time, he plays Hakuya, a calm and collected character who serves as the country's prime minister. While he doesn't have many lines, he often makes important statements that influence the kingdom's policies, and his voice, combined with his presence of mind, makes him a reliable character.
Tomoe Inui - Moe Kahara
Moe Kahara plays Tomoe, a young girl with the rare ability to communicate with animals. Kahara, who began her voice acting career in 2019, is only 20 years old and says this is her first regular anime role, making her a promising newcomer. She also appeared on the "Genkoku Radio" program for this series with Kobayashi, who plays Soma, and the exchange between the two, who are senior and junior in the same agency, was very entertaining.
Georg Carmine - Daisuke Kusunoki
Daisuke Kusunoki plays Georg, the lion army general. He's best known for his roles as Rock Bison in "Tiger & Bunny" and Meng Wu in "Kingdom," but he's probably best known for his film dubbing. His powerful, wild male voice, like that of Dwayne Johnson, was a perfect fit for Georg.
Castor Vargas - Jun Fukuyama
Jun Fukuyama plays Castor, a half-dragonite (dragonewt) and air force general. He's a popular voice actor with an almost endless list of leading roles, including Lelouch in "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion," Souta Takanashi in "WORKKING!!," and Korosensei in "Assassination Classroom." Castor is straightforward and a little reckless, and Fukuyama's voice perfectly captures those characteristics.
Excel Walter - Yui Horie
Yui Horie plays Excel, a heroic admiral of the navy. You've likely heard her captivating voice in numerous works, including her roles as Tohru Honda in "Fruits Basket" and Tsubasa Hanekawa in the "Monogatari" series. She skillfully portrayed Excel, who combines the image of a calm older sister with the strength of a lord protecting the city.
