The first part of the anime series "How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom" was recently airing, but the second part is already scheduled to begin airing in January 2022. So, in this article, we'll take a look back at the first part and thoroughly introduce the fascinating characters that appear in this series.

Kingdom of Elfrieden

Located southeast of the supercontinent of Randia, the kingdom's capital is Parnam. At the time of Soma's summoning, the entire country was in financial difficulty, so dire that it couldn't even afford to provide financial support to the Grand Chaos Empire.

Soma Kazuya

Soma in Command

Soma Kazuya (Soma Kazuya) is the protagonist, suddenly summoned to this world as a hero. He was quickly appointed king, and despite only being 18 years old, he possesses exceptional talent, devising a plan to restore the country's finances and utilizing his knowledge of his previous world to come up with a progressive, realistic national policy suited to this world. He's not just intelligent; he also possesses eloquence, a skill often associated with speech, which he uses when making orb broadcasts to the public. His persuasiveness in his policies has brought stability to the nation.

Rishia Elfrieden

Rishia full body

Rishia initially served in the army, but upon Soma's ascension to kingship, she was betrothed to him by Alberto, the previous king and his father. As she assisted Soma with his duties, she gradually developed feelings for him, and by the latter half of the anime, they had become so close that they were practically lovers. With her beauty, her bold demeanor, and her ability to use powerful ice magic, she's a classic heroine who can fight.

Aisha Udgard

Aisha Full Body

Aisha is a talented martial artist who was gathered in response to Soma's order to find wise men. Aiisha, a dark elf, is tall and wields a great sword, and despite being a woman, she has never lost a battle. While initially portrayed as stiff and intimidating, once she relaxes, she reveals her love for food and her occasional clumsy side. She's such a gentle and lovable character that she's even been nicknamed the "Disappointing Elf."

Juna Doma

Juna full body

Juna is a beautiful singer with a beautiful voice, active as the kingdom's diva. She also possesses the talent to instantly sing any piece of music she hears, bringing comfort to the people and strengthening the nation's unity. She also has a hidden side to her, working at the singing cafe "Lorelei" in the castle town and as "Canary," a Marine Corps leader in the navy. She's an important character who supports Soma as an older sister, even more so than Rishia.

Poncho Panacotta

Poncho Full Body

Poncho is a voracious eater who has consumed every edible thing in the kingdom. At first, he lacked confidence in his own talent, but after Soma praised him highly, he became so successful that he was dubbed the "God of Food." In a kingdom that was suffering from a food shortage, he was the greatest contributor to resolving the crisis by popularizing dishes that were previously only eaten in certain areas and developing new seasonings and cooking methods.

Hakuya Kuonmin

Hakuya full body

Hakuya has read countless books and possesses an exceptional memory. Initially called to serve as the kingdom's librarian, his talent and Soma's high regard led to his early appointment as prime minister at the appointment ceremony. He is the only person who can speak equally to Soma's knowledge and strategies, and serves as his right-hand man, calmly making decisions about Soma's forward-thinking ideas.

Tomoe Inui

Tomoe Full Body

Tomoe is a wolf girl who lived in the kingdom as a refugee from the north. Her unique ability allows her to understand and converse with animals, even demons. Concerned about the usefulness of this ability and the danger it posed to Tomoe, Soma adopted her into the former king and queen, making her Rishia's step-sister. Tomoe's cuteness and unwavering role as a younger sister provide comfort to Soma and his friends.

The Three Lords' Army

The army is a separate military organization from the king, consisting of three branches: land, navy, and air. These three dukes, collectively known as the Three Dukes, function as a deterrent against the king's excessive policies.

Georg Carmine

Georg Face

Georg is a lion-faced beastman and one of the Three Dukes, serving as an army general. Known as a veteran general, Georg was a loyal vassal who had long supported the Kingdom of Elfrieden and earned the trust of his soldiers. He also had a family relationship with the previous king, Albert, and was like a father to Rishia, watching over her growing up since she was a child.

Castor Vargas

Castor's face

Castor is a half-dragonewt (Dragonewt) who is a firm believer in what he believes in. He is one of the three admirals of the Air Force. His wife is the daughter of Admiral Excel, and it seems he shares a similar bloodline to Excel. As a long-lived species, he has long led the Air Force and boasts high combat prowess using wyverns. His loyalty is evident from the way he and his daughter Carla trust Georg wholeheartedly.

Excel Walter

Excel Face

Excel is one of the Three Admirals of the Navy. Though she appears to be in her 20s, she has lived for over 500 years and has many descendants, including the singer Juna, one of Excel's granddaughters. Protecting her family and the Port of Walter, which she governs, seems to be Excel's top priority, and she will do anything to achieve it. Furthermore, her feminine presence and dignified demeanor toward men give the impression that Excel cannot resist them.

Imperial Army

This is the army directly under the King. While it has fewer soldiers than the Three Dukes, it is an army the King has relatively more freedom to command. It is dominated by earth-based magicians, and in the series, it primarily performs civil engineering and fortification tasks. The Royal Guard, commanded by Ludwin, primarily handles combat duties.

Kaede Foxia

Kaede smiling

Kaede is a young girl who was appointed as a staff officer for the Imperial Army due to her high intelligence and understanding of state affairs. While she looks similar to Tomoe, she is a fox spirit and an earth-based magician. She is also constantly concerned about her childhood friend Halbert's recklessness and supports him as a good older sister. She also has a keen eye for economics and policy, and is a clear-sighted woman who can easily understand Soma's thinking.

Halbert Magna

Halbert's face

Halbert is a young man who was appointed as Kaede's aide-de-camp upon her promotion to staff officer. Originally a member of the army, he boasted combat prowess renowned for his bravery, but he transferred to the Imperial Guard to protect his beloved Kaede. Soma also allows him to speak casually with her, and the two of them arguing with each other feels as if they were classmates.

Grand Chaos Empire

A large nation located to the west of the supercontinent Randia, its capital is Valois. As the representative of the great powers, it united other nations and issued the "Declaration of Humanity" to fight against monsters. Furthermore, the Grand Chaos Empire surpasses the Kingdom of Elfrieden in terms of population, financial resources, and combat power.

Maria Euphoria and Jeanne Euphoria

Manga Cover

The older sister, Maria, is the Empress of the Empire, and the younger sister, Jeanne, is the Commander-in-Chief of the Army. These sisters hold key positions in the Empire. Maria is so popular with the people that she's nicknamed the "Saint of the Empire," and she speaks of idealistic ideas that will bring happiness to everyone. Meanwhile, Jeanne, like Soma, supports Maria and has a relatively realistic personality. The Empire's guidelines are determined by the balance between these two. While the two made a brief appearance in the second half of Part 1, I'm looking forward to seeing more of their interactions with Soma in Part 2.

Summary

Anime Key Biju

What did you think? In Part 1 of the anime, it seemed like Soma, who gathered talents, brought together a diverse cast of characters with unique personalities. Since it ended just as the country was finally coming together, I imagine Part 2 will feature more episodes involving foreign countries. I'm looking forward to continuing to pay attention to the new characters and Soma's national policies.
