Hakodume Drama Synopsis Episode 1 Spoilers
Rookie police officer Mai Kawai (played by Mei Nagano) sought a stable civil service job, taking every civil service exam she could find. She only passed the police officer position, a flimsy excuse for taking the job. However, she grew tired of the relentless, 24-hour work she found there. She tried to submit her resignation to police box chief Shuichi Igazaki (played by Tsuyoshi Muro), but couldn't find the right timing. One day, former ace detective Seiko Fuji (played by Erika Toda) is transferred to the police box where Kawai works. Mai is paired with Fuji, who candidly explains that he was transferred due to power harassment.
Episode 1 Part 2
Paired with Fuji, Kawai handles unfamiliar interrogations and works alongside and against the Criminal Investigation Division's Gen (played by Shohei Miura), Yamada (played by Yuki Yamada), and other officers. However, Fuji proves to be a highly capable woman, solving incoming cases with a glance and subduing a purse snatcher in no time. In particular, Kawai handles a case involving a man who repeatedly threatens suicide. Mai believes the suicide attempt is a farce, but Kawai realizes it's real and narrowly saves the man's life. Seeing Fuji's actions, Kawai learns the determination required of a police officer. His resignation letter is torn up.
Hakodume Drama Synopsis Episode 2 Spoilers
Going out on a late-night patrol with Fuji, Kawai somehow finds himself patrolling the school alone. However, he finds Minamoto and Yamada from the Criminal Investigation Division already staking out the area. While they were worrying about not being spotted by the lurking thief, Kawai, who had gotten scared and was on patrol, got in the way and did everything he could, but Fuji ended up catching the culprit. Later, when they received a report of two thugs mugging someone, they headed to the scene and found Gen and Yamada taking a boy who had been smoking a cigarette into custody. Mai knew the boy well. He was a boy that Mai had taken into custody several times before, but when his mother came to pick him up, she looked tired and didn't scold him.
Episode 2 Part 2
Later, a woman named Risa arrives at the police station and says she dropped an earring, and they respond to the call. Later, Fuji and Kawai are called to the Criminal Investigation Division to tail a host suspected of drug use. Kawai pairs up with Gen and Fuji with Yamada, and they tail the host pretending to be a couple. Fuji easily manipulates Yamada and leads the suspect to capture. Kawai, who has simply held them back, is dejected, but he has no time to waste as he moves on to the next crime scene. Mai searches for the earrings with Risa during her free time, but the next day, they discover they're stolen and a gift from serial thief Kikuchi. Risa had no idea her boyfriend, Kikuchi, was a thief, and was shocked to learn of their involvement after his arrest, but the case is finally solved.
Hakozume Drama Episode 3 Spoilers
One day, Kawai and his team are tasked with interrogating a shoplifting woman. The woman requests Gen, who is rude to Kawai and his team, but once Gen arrives, the case is easily solved. In fact, Gen possesses a special ability surpassing even Fuji's, and that ability is interrogation. Gen possesses a talent for capturing the hearts of suspects during interrogations. One day, Kawai is called in by Gen and assigned to interrogate a high school girl named Ayana, who claims to have been sexually assaulted. Gen's decision was based on the idea that the victim would not even want to see the man's face.
Episode 3 Part 2
Kawai is assigned to the interrogation, and the victim appears calm and the interrogation ends without incident. However, the testimony of another witness who appears later does not match the information Kawai obtained during his interrogation. Kawai's interrogation without considering the victim's psychological state caused her to close herself off. Ultimately, the case stalled. However, Fuji recognized Kawai's talent for drawing, even if clumsy, and for capturing the victim's features. He then created a portrait based on witness testimony. Kawai struggled to complete the sketch, which turned out to be a striking resemblance to a man named Daijiro Yasuda, currently on probation.
Hakozume Drama Synopsis Episode 4 Spoilers
There are many victims of molestation cases, and a special investigation headquarters is formed. However, the investigation struggles due to a lack of conclusive information. Fuji and Kawai want to help the victim somehow, but they've been sent back to their regular duties. The Criminal Investigation Division is worn out by the uncertain investigation. Their only hope is a testimony from the victim, Ayana, who is so shocked she can't even go to school.
Episode 4 Part 2
With no progress, Fuji and Kawai appeal to the deputy chief to get Ayana's testimony, but in fact, permission has already been granted. Police box chief Igazaki has been working on the deputy chief behind the scenes. Fuji and Kawai visit Ayana again and successfully persuade her to testify, identifying the suspect as Daijiro Yasuda. The investigation headquarters then takes action based on that testimony, but Fuji and Kawai, with Yamada's help, operate secretly and identify the crime scene. They then arrest Yasuda's accomplice, while Kawai desperately pursues the fleeing Yasuda. Finally, Gen arrests Yasuda, solving the case, and Ayana later expresses her gratitude to Kawai.
