Gleipnir, an anime series airing in April, is a supernatural battle story featuring characters with transformational abilities, with a despairing horror element. While it's more of a horror and suspense story than a battle story, the various supernatural beings who appear in the series still play a major role in the story. Today, we've chosen the strongest supernatural beings and would like to introduce them to you!
What is a Collector with Transformational Ability?
Characters with transformational abilities are referred to as Collectors in the series. Aliens who crash-landed on Earth gave ordinary humans their powers, and they ask for their cooperation in gathering their comrades scattered across the region. These aliens change shape depending on their environment, and many of them take the form of coins. In exchange for collecting the coins, which represent their fellow humans, they grant the power to grant wishes—the ability to transform.
A Battle for the Coins Begins
The collectors, now empowered, seek even more power and begin searching for coins, but in the process, they end up killing each other. Furthermore, even if humanity is engaged in a bloody conflict with the aliens, they don't seem to care as long as they collect coins. They'll grant you one wish, but they'll get caught up in the fighting... and they're the root of all evil... aliens... ah (I get it). Everyone has no choice but to die.
Ranking of the Strongest Ability Users: Kaito, the Man Who Collected 100 Coins
Kaito is the only person who collected 100 coins and received great powers from the Medal King... or rather, the alien. In fact, he's one of Shuichi, Elena, and other childhood friends who are central to the story. A misunderstanding led to an irreparable act, and the guilt seems to be his driving force. However, while his specific goals are unclear, he has taken up positions in coin-dense areas and is fighting off coin collectors who are after large quantities.
A Very Despicable Ability
His ability is the ability to "pseudo-resurrect the dead." However, even though he resurrects them, they are merely a collection of shadowy insects, far from being real humans. Although they retain their sense of self after resurrection, they are unable to oppose Kaito, and remain his puppets until they die. This is a very despicable ability. He's practically immortal himself, undoubtedly the strongest character in the series. He further strengthens his fighting power by using the Collectors he defeats as pawns with his despicable abilities.
Ranked Second in the Ability User Strength Ranking: Childhood Friend Naoto Holds the Key
A childhood friend of Shuichi, Elena, and Kaito, who holds the key to the story. After a misunderstanding leads to the murder of one of his childhood friends, Honoka, and Kaito's powers, he goes on a rampage, confronting him alongside Elena and the others to stop him. Although he competes against Kaito, who has acquired 100 coins, he is defeated. However, there's no doubt that he is one of the most powerful characters in the series.
The same ability as Shuichi!?
His ability is the ability to transform into the same mascot costume as Shuichi. Its appearance also shares many similarities with Shuichi's mascot, making this mascot a special presence between the two childhood friends. Its power output seems to be stronger than Shuichi's, suggesting he still has a trump card up his sleeve. She is teaming up with Elena and other allies to challenge Kaito.
Third Place in the Ability User Strength Ranking: Claire's Monster-Transformed Older Sister, Reina Aokie
Elena is the older sister of the heroine, Claire, and is currently missing after murdering her parents. Shuichi's ability allows her to find Elena surprisingly easily, but she has transformed into a monster far superior to Shuichi. When you actually talk to her, you'll find that she has a personality that is far more difficult to believe than someone capable of murder. For some reason, she knows Shuichi well and apologizes for turning him into a monster. At first, she only gives the impression of being a dangerous older sister, but as the story progresses, her tragic resolve becomes apparent.
An unknown ability!?
Her transformation ability is truly monstrous, far surpassing Shuichi's. While the details of her abilities are unknown, a later conversation with Kaito suggests that she may be the one who stole Shuichi and Claire's memories, and she also appears to have the ability to erase memories. However, the details of her abilities are unknown, and she sometimes becomes mentally unstable, whether this is a side effect of gaining her powers, whether her environment has changed her, or whether she is naturally mentally unstable.
Fourth Place in the Supernatural Power Ranking: "Yen," the Leader of Supernatural Powers Camped in the Mountains
A leader with many supernatural powers. His territory is the mountains, where he hunts down attackers searching for coins and increases his allies by killing those who do not join him. Originally a weakling, he is a good leader who cares for his subordinates, but he also has a cruel side that shows no mercy to those who oppose him.
An Unexpected End
They attack Shuichi and Claire when they arrive in the mountains. Their overwhelming numbers and strength make them invincible even for Shuichi's maximum firepower, and they suggest that they "kill one of their comrades and join us." However, Claire's plan causes them to be surrounded by poison gas and fire, and they sacrifice themselves to save their comrades. Despite being one of the strongest characters in the series, they die without being able to utilize their powers.
Number 5 in the Ability User Strength Ranking: The Refreshing Battle Maniac "Mibe Tadanori"
The attacker Shuichi and Claire encounter in the mountains. A true warrior, he wields his power and participates in deadly battles to prove his strength. While he's a battle junkie who enjoys the tension of fighting for life, he also values the art of fighting, respects his opponents, and, when trapped and cornered, is a battle maniac who gracefully admits defeat and accepts death with a sense of satisfaction.
Demonic Abilities
When he transforms, he takes on a demonic form and fights using the blades on both his arms. He's a fierce warrior who has survived countless battles, but during his battle with Shuichi and Claire, he is caught in a trap set by the two at the last moment and is cornered. However, out of respect for the two who refuse to take his life, he admits defeat and becomes their ally. From then on, he exchanges contact information with them, using them as a trump card.
[Gleipnir] Strength Ranking Summary
This time, we've compiled a Gleipnir strength ranking. This ranking is based on my own personal opinions, so opinions may differ, but at this point, this is what I think it is. The main characters, Shuichi and Claire, are the type to work together and use strategies, so they're not on the ranking. There are plenty of characters in this series who are even more dangerous than the main character, so it's interesting to see how they fight against such opponents!
