The much-anticipated series, Funeral Parlor Freiren, scheduled to air in the fall of 2023, is not a fantasy with a mortal protagonist, but rather a historical drama-style fantasy told from the perspective of Freiren, an elf who lives far longer than humans. The story follows the events following the defeat of the Demon King by the hero, weaving together new companions who inherit the will of their former allies and new encounters along the way. Here, we've compiled a list of the main characters in Funeral Parlor Freiren!

Character #1: Freiren

Frieren

The protagonist of this series is an elf magician who has lived for over 1,000 years. A hero who once defeated the Demon King alongside the hero Himmel and his companions. Because she has a different sense of time than humans, the 10 years she spent adventuring with the heroes seemed short to her, even though she was able to complete decades of work without any difficulty. However, those 10 years were undoubtedly special to Freiren, and when the hero Himmel passed away at the age of 18, she regretted not getting to know Himmel and began a journey to learn more about humans.

Character #2: The Hero Himmel

Himmel

A hero who defeated the Demon King with his companions 50 years ago. He's a kind-hearted and narcissistic leader who never gives up and always looks forward, making him a reliable leader. Although they only traveled together for 10 years, those 10 years had a profound impact on Freiren. He is shown to have had feelings for Freiren, and his personality is often discussed in flashbacks.

Character #3: Monk Heiter

Heiter

One of Himmel's party members, Heiter is a monk. He's a war orphan and childhood friend of Himmel. He's a calm and collected clergyman, but he's also a stinky monk who loves alcohol. After defeating the Demon King, he became the bishop of the Holy City and earned the respect of the people. In his later years, when he reunites with Freiren, he realizes his own death is near and entrusts his adopted war orphan, Fern, to Freiren.

Character #4: Warrior Eisen

Eisen

One of Himmel's party members, Eisen is a warrior by profession. He is a dwarf, not as long-lived as an elf, but he lives a long life. His strength as a warrior is so great that even the demon Rynier calls him the strongest warrior he has ever encountered. He possesses incredible toughness, nearly surviving free fall, but by the time he reunites with Freiren, his health is steadily declining, and he declines to accompany her. She trained the human Stark as her only apprentice, but they parted ways due to a minor misunderstanding.

Character #5: Fern

Fern

A war orphan girl adopted by Heiter, she had been training in magic since before meeting Freiren, and her talent was recognized by Freiren. Due to Heiter's machinations, she became Freiren's only apprentice, and after Heiter's death, she continued traveling with Freiren. She has a quiet personality, but when she gets angry, she does so without showing any emotion. Because Freiren is often indifferent to her, she effectively serves as a guardian.

Character #6: Stark

Stark

A young warrior who was Eisen's only apprentice. Like his master, he is an axe warrior, but he is extremely timid and underestimates himself. However, his true strength is incredible, as seen in his single-handed defeat of a dragon monster attacking a village and his brute strength in defeating a demon. His abilities were recognized by his master, Eisen, but they parted ways after a trivial misunderstanding. After defeating the dragon, he accompanies Freiren on her journey.

Character #7: Zain

Zain

A young monk who was rescued by Freiren after nearly dying after getting stuck in a bottomless swamp during a journey. He's a corrupt monk who is even worse than Heiter, addicted to alcohol, tobacco, and gambling, and a womanizer. However, Freiren recognizes his talent and abilities as natural. He had given up on the journey after his best friend, who promised to return in three years, never returned, and he was worried about his brother who lives in the village. However, after Freiren's persistent persuasion and his brother's scolding, he ends up accompanying them. As an older man, he acts as a good older brother, mediating between Fern and Stark and giving them sound advice. She is currently separated from Freiren and the others.

Character #8: Aura of the Guillotine

Aura

A surviving member of the Seven Sages, a powerful demonic tribe directly subordinate to the Demon King. Aiming for peace with humanity, she sent her subordinates, Rugner and others, as emissaries to the Granat Earldom, but they showed no intention of reconciliation and waited for an opportunity to invade again. Though she appears to be a young girl, she is one of the longest-lived demons. Her most notable skill is her ability to subjugate others using the "Scales of Submission," a magic that places each other's souls on a scale and requires the one with the least magical power to submit completely. This magic would make an opponent submit if they were outnumbered by others, but his inherently vast magical power made him invincible. However, he was unable to see through Freiren's thorough technique for concealing her magical power, and his power was used against him, forcing him to commit suicide.

Character #9: Flamme

Flamme

A legendary great magician who existed 1,000 years ago. He met Freiren in an elf village that was under attack by demons, and he protected her and trained her as his only apprentice. He hated demons, and as a strategy against them, he taught her the technique of concealing her magical power and killing them while they let their guard down. She's also a genius wizard, and her barrier magic is unmatched even with current technology.

Character #10: Zellier

Zellier

A great wizard from the age of myth who still lives today. An elf, she was also the teacher of Freiren's master, Flamme. She's said to have mastered every spell in human history, and is known as the Living Grimoire. She suddenly appeared on the stage of history, became the founder of the Continental Magic Association, and promised the privilege of bestowing one spell of her choice on anyone who achieved the rank of first-class wizard.
