Fire Force, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine, is a hugely popular battle fantasy that has been confirmed for a second anime season. The protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe, is a "third-generation ability user" who can emit powerful flames from his feet. He uses this ability to save many lives as a member of Special Fire Force 8. In this article, we'll explain the terminology that appears in Fire Force in preparation for the second anime season!
First, let's take a look at the world of Fire Force!
Fire Force is set on the island nation of Tokyo, where a mysterious phenomenon occurs: people suddenly burst into flames and become Homurabitos. Once a Homurabito, the only way to quell them is to take their life, so people live in fear of this phenomenon. The Special Fire Force, to which Shinra and his team belong, specializes in fighting these Homurabitos.
However, most of the Special Fire Forces, from 1 to 8, are backed by Haijima Heavy Industries, a major corporation that supports the Tokyo Empire, or the Holy Sun Church, which is the faith of the majority of the population. Shinra and the 8th Squadron are one of the few squadrons that are not under any pressure.
Explaining "Fire Force" Terminology!
"Fire Force" is filled with technical terms, such as "Adolla Burst" and "Adolla Link," whose mysteries are gradually unraveled throughout the series. For those who started watching midway through, we'll explain the terms you might be embarrassed to learn! This post contains some spoilers, so please be careful if you haven't read the original work!
Adolla Burst
Adolla Burst, also known as "Pure Flame" or "Primordial Flame," is a type of pyrotechnic ability that rarely manifests in third-generation humans. The flames are characterized by explosive power and heat levels greater than normal flames. The protagonist Shinra and his younger brother, Zo Kusakabe, possess Adolla Bursts. The Evangelist's group calls them the "Xth Pillar," and they plan to gather all eight of them and ignite the Earth.
Adolla Link
Adolla Bursts are something shared. Those who possess Adolla Bursts can deeply influence each other, but they can also sense the strong feelings of those without.
In the first season of the anime, when Captain Konro of the 7th Company sensed Shinmon Benimaru's danger, his strong desire for help reached Shinra. Konro doesn't have an Adolla Burst, but Shinra sensed it around his ankle. Also, when he linked with Shou, who possesses an Adolla Burst, they both realized they were "linked," suggesting that those who possess Adolla Bursts can share their feelings.
Demon Homurabito
This is a horned Homurabito, and was witnessed at the scene of the fire where Shinra lost his family. It possesses power incomparable to that of ordinary Homurabito, and only the 7th Convex and Benimaru have ever defeated it alone.
The conditions for its appearance are still a mystery, but it has been confirmed to occur near the birth of a new Adolla Burst or at power spots like Asakusa. When the second "Demon" appeared in Asakusa, even the Evangelist faction stated, "We've discovered that it can sometimes appear twice in the same place," revealing that there is still much we don't know.
Doppelganger
A look-alike, said to exist in Adra as many times as there are humans. The Fifth Fire Flower predicts that when a doppelganger meets the person, a Homurabito is born.
Incidentally, Konro once encountered and defeated a demon believed to be his doppelganger. He said that the demon that caused him to develop the Ash Disease was like a mirror image of himself. It was as if the demon was trying to kill Konro and take his place...
Adra (Another World)
A world inhabited by evangelists and doppelgangers. When Shinra linked with Sho, he was able to catch a glimpse of Adra because he was linked to an evangelist. There, he also encountered a demon with horns growing from its eye, believed to be Shinra's mother.
Seiyo Church
The official religion of the Tokyo Empire, worshiping the "Sun God." Its founder was Raphuls I, who discovered the Primordial Flame after a major disaster approximately 200 years ago. "Ratomu" is also a eulogy used by the Special Fire Force during memorial services for the dead. Among the Special Fire Force, the First Division is based on the Seiyo Church, and Battalion Commander Burns has deep ties to the Church.
Haijima Heavy Industries
The largest corporation in the Tokyo Empire, it wields power because it supports the country. All of the Special Fire Force's fire-resistant clothing is made by Haijima, so they would not be able to function without this company. Within the Special Fire Force, the 3rd and 5th squads are backed by Haijima. Licht of the 8th Scientific Investigation Team was also the director of Haijima's Ignition Applied Science Research Institute.
Since they also conduct research on pyrophoric phenomena and supernatural users, Shinra spent time as a test subject at Haijima's facility after losing his family.
