The hero Natsu and other dragon slayers are some of the best in the series. Here, we've put together a summary of dragon slayers.

What are dragon slayers?

Ability wizards who appear in Fairy Tail. They are rare wizards who can use "Dragon Slayer Magic", which gives their bodies the same characteristics as dragons, and are broadly divided into three generations. The main character, Natsu Dragneel, belongs to the first generation. Dragon Slayer magic was originally conceived by some dragons in ancient times when humans and dragons still lived together, who planned to give humans the same powers as themselves and use them as a counterforce against the hostile dragons. However, there is a limit to how much a human body can endow with dragon characteristics, and if a person continues to use Dragon Slayer magic too much, they will not be able to return to being human. This resulted in the birth of Acnologia, the worst dragon in history, who was originally human. For various reasons, current Dragon Slayer wizards are prevented from becoming completely dragons.

Advantages & Disadvantages

The only flaw is that they are generally prone to motion sickness. On the other hand, because their bodies are pseudo-dragon-like in attributes, their sense of smell and hearing are abnormally developed (several times that of an ordinary person), and they also have the advantage of automatic defense and increased recovery power through magical power. Therefore, if their magic is sealed with a magic seal stone or the like, they are susceptible to damage, just like other wizards.

Characteristics of Dragon Slayers

The greatest characteristic of Dragon Slayers is that they can use their power by consuming things that match their attributes. For example, Natsu can breathe fire by consuming objects that emit flames, blasts, or heat energy (such as magma or molten iron). Originally, Slayers, including other God Slayers and Demon Slayers, can only convert things that match their characteristics into energy, but some Dragon Slayers can use hybrid magic such as Lightning Flame Dragon and Iron Shadow Dragon by consuming things that other Dragon Slayers prey on.

The Secret Technique of Dragon Slayers

When the magical power of a Dragon Slayer is boosted to its peak, it transforms into a form called Dragon Force, which emits a shining aura. So far, the second generation has not yet awakened to this power, and Natsu and Wendy learned it along the way, but the third generation's twin dragon duo has been using it since their first appearance.

First generation dragon slayer magicians

The first generation refers to magicians who were taught dragon slayer magic directly by dragons.

Natsu Dragneel

He is nicknamed "Salamander". His age is unknown, and he has a red crest on his right shoulder. He likes fire and hates vehicles. He is an incredibly big eater. He is a "fire dragon slayer" who uses dragon slayer magic. He excels at hand-to-hand combat, making full use of fire and bare-handed fighting techniques. In addition, his physical abilities are also high due to the effects of his Dragon Slayer magic. A magic that radiates high heat from his entire body. It can melt glass in an instant, instantly evaporate the icicles thrown by Vulcan, and even melt iron.
After releasing his second magic source, his firepower has increased to an incredible extent, allowing him to use bold yet delicate heat emission to melt an arena, explode and evaporate sand, and yet not harm his allies.

Gajeel Redfox

He is nicknamed "Gajeel the Iron Dragon". Like Natsu, he is an "iron dragon slayer" of unknown age. His parent dragon's name is "Metacarina". He is good at changing his whole body into iron scales to change his body to the hardness of iron and increasing his attack and defense power. In addition to his natural superhuman strength, the power of his spin kick has increased to the point where the wind pressure from his kick can crack a wall. While this magic is suited to combat, as befits his warlike nature, it is also excellent as a support spell. Another advantage is that it is easier to obtain supplies compared to fire or poison dragon slayer magic, but it seems that breathing and resupplying are difficult underwater.

Wendy Marvel

Also known as "Shrine Maiden of the Sky" and "Wendy of the Sky." A beautiful girl with long blue hair and a crest on her right arm. Her favorite thing is her partner, Charles. After the Nirvana arc, he joined the guild "Fairy Tail" and was loved by everyone in the guild as a mascot, and he often worked with Natsu and the others. He is a Sky Dragon Slayer who mainly uses healing magic. His source of magical power is "air", which is universally present in the surroundings, so he can recover in any place or situation. However, he is dependent on the environment, and has a weakness in that he cannot use magic in environments with polluted air.

Second-generation Dragon Slayer

Second-generation refers to the use of pseudo-dragon slayer magic by embedding magic crystals in the body.

23 years old. Has a crest under the left side of his chest. Likes the strongest, hates the weak. S-class mage. Makarov's real grandson, his father is Ivan, master of the dark guild "Raven's Tail". The Spriggan 12 of the Albarus Empire rescued Makarov and his friends from a difficult situation caused by Ajer Ramuru, and showed off a monstrous magic by firing a lightning bolt that seemed as powerful as a nuclear explosion and deflecting a sand tsunami.

Cobra

His real name is Eric. He is one of the Six Demon Generals and a second-generation Dragon Slayer with a magic crystal embedded in his body. He is a young man with spiky brown hair and sharp eyes and fangs reminiscent of a snake. He can hear the inner voices of his opponents. He can hear the voices of not only humans but also Exceeds and snakes, so it seems possible for anyone with human-level intelligence to do so. Like other Dragon Slayers, he powers up by eating poison and pathogens (Natsu says "it seems bad for the body"). His unique feature is that his arms and other parts of his body transform into reptile shapes during battle.

A hero with a straight scar on the bridge of his nose and bud-like hair on top of his head that draws your eye. A second-generation dragon slayer mage with eight dragon slayer magic crystals embedded in his body. He uses as many powerful dragon slayer magic spells as possible, including earth, fire, water, and wind, and his eyes change color when he fights. In order to defeat Acnologia with his own hands, he abandoned the continent of Ishgar, traveled west to Arakitasia, and defected to the Alvarez Empire.

Third-generation dragon slayer mage

The third generation refers to a first- and second-generation hybrid who learned dragon slayer magic from a dragon and then embedded magic crystals in his body.

Sting Eucliffe

He has golden hair and is characterized by a scar on his right temple and an piercing in his left ear. He was taught "Dragon Slayer Magic" by the White Dragon Vicelogia and has a Dragon Slayer Magic Crystal embedded in his body, making him a third-generation Dragon Slayer Mage who can activate Dragon Force on his own. In the Alvarez Empire arc, he rushes to Lecter's call and engages Larcade in battle. He eats Rogue's shadow and becomes the White Shadow Dragon, but struggles against Larcade's "R.I.P." However, he is victorious thanks to Rogue's advice and Kagura's help.

Rogue Cheney

He was taught Dragon Slayer magic by the Shadow Dragon Skiadrum, and has a Dragon Slayer magic crystal embedded in his body, making him a "third generation Dragon Slayer Mage." Like Sting, he can activate Dragon Force on his own. He once admired Gajeel. Although he now speaks and acts more coldly than Sting, he is overconfident in his powers and is cold-hearted.

What was the trigger for the birth of Dragon Slayer Mages?!

Young Irene

Irene Belserion, one of the Spriggan 12, is a high-ranking enchanter. She can enchant and change everything (Zeref even said she was a genius at enchanting and removing magic). She can also use it for attacks, and by enchanting the atmosphere, she can create gusts of wind that gouge the ground. She can even change the appearance of her opponents, project a giant eye into the sky to explore her surroundings, enchant allies, separate the enchantments of her opponents, and even personify her swords. She also created the magic of dragon slayer magic, which gives humans the same power as dragons by enchanting them with the power of dragons.
