The dark guilds that appear in "FAIRY TAIL" are guilds that have been ordered to disband in the past but continue to operate in secret despite other orders, and are also recognized as criminal groups. The first dark guild to appear in "FAIRY TAIL" is the "Six Demon Generals". Although it has the smallest number of members, only six, each member has enough power to destroy the guild on their own. Each member of the "Six Demon Generals" has a code name and a "prayer", and when someone falls, the seals placed on the brain are lifted one by one. The "prayer" can be rephrased as each person's wish, and is characterized by the fact that it expresses the hidden feelings in their hearts. Also, when all the seals placed on Brain are removed, Brain's other personality, Zero, awakens and becomes driven by destructive impulses, becoming someone everyone fears.

Midnight, Cobra, Angel, Racer, and Hot Eye are from the Tower of Paradise where Erza and Jellal spent their time. Each of the "Six Demon Generals" has its own subordinate dark guild, and the first to appear was "Iron Forest (Eisenwald)" where the battle over Lullaby unfolded. The executives of "Devil's Heart" are the "Seven Purgatory Family" who use lost magic. With Ultear as the leader, the group includes Azuma, Zancrow, Rustyrose, Kain Hikaru, Meldy, and Zoldeo. A dark guild that is part of the Balamb Alliance, formed by lieutenant Mardo Geel, and its master is END, the most vicious and terrible demon in the Book of Zeref. Based on the Underworld Island, it is secretly working to revive END, and to that end, it is plotting and carrying out the annihilation of magic throughout the continent. It is engaged in a conflict with "Fairy Tail", but with the intervention of Acronogear and other factors, it is ultimately destroyed by Zeref.

All members except Brain and Hot Eye remain the same, and Clodoa joins as Jackpot, making most of the members the same as the "Six Demon Generals".
