Dragons (or "Orochi") are shrouded in mystery, but what exactly is a corridor? Let's take a look!

What is the story of "Drifting Dragons"?

The Crew

Before introducing dragons, let me first introduce this work. Dragons are the rulers of the sky. In this world, dragons represent a threat and disaster to many people on Earth, but at the same time, they represent a treasure trove. Dragons are sometimes valued for their use in medicine, oil, and food. Those who hunt these dragons are known as "dragon hunters." They pilot dragon-hunting ships, soaring through the skies, hunting dragons and traveling. This story is about the Queen Zaza, a faction of dragon hunters, and its crew. The story unfolds around a unique crew, including ace pilot Mika and rookie Takita.

What exactly is the "Dragon Corridor" in [Airborne Dragons]?

Ship

The Dragon Corridor refers to a phenomenon that occurs in [Airborne Dragons]. First, countless medium-sized dragons appear, targeting a flock of small dragons. Then, they position themselves around the small ones. This would then lead to the emergence of even larger dragons, attempting to prey on the medium-sized dragons. Thus, the phenomenon known as the "Dragon Corridor," where these creatures blend together to form a vortex, was born.

It Occurred on Mount Kin

Dragon Corridor

This Dragon Corridor occurred on Mount Kin after Takita fell off the ship. At the time, strong updrafts were being generated by volcanic smoke on Mount Kin. This updraft attracted small dragons eager to fly higher and higher, forming a flock. However, this was very dangerous. A medium-sized dragon soon arrived. Then, a larger dragon appears, surrounding the medium-sized dragon. This is the true story of the legend passed down in the village of Askela.

[Airborne Dragons] Takita Befriends a Small Dragon

The Dragon and Takita

To tell this story, we must first tell Takita's story. One day, Takita falls off a ship. Nearly dead, Takita manages to hold on to a small dragon, narrowly escaping death. From then on, the small dragon and Takita end up staying together for a while. The small dragon has become very attached to Takita. Takita wants to return the dragon to its herd, but the dragon seems to prefer staying close to Takita and refuses to leave. And so, this "Dragon Corridor" occurs. As they are about to be engulfed in a powerful updraft, Takita lets the little dragon go. From this point on, they are separated. This little dragon's story is very moving, so if you're interested, be sure to read volume 3 of the manga.

This corridor is also where the little dragon and Takita part ways.
