While Code Geass tends to focus on Lelouch's character and Geass, it was produced by Sunrise and primarily features robots in battles. This time, I'd like to introduce the robots that appear in Geass.
What are Nightmare Frames?
Nightmare Frames are humanoid robots that appear in Geass, measuring approximately 4-5 meters in length. It's a little small for a robot, but apparently that's why it's small enough for terrorists to hide in their garages. The abbreviation for Knightmare Frame is KMF, which stands for Knight's Horse Mecha.
Knightmare Frame Gawain
This is the mecha piloted by Lelouch. It originally belonged to Britannia, but was seized by Zero. Developed by Count Lloyd, it is equipped with so much equipment that it could be said to embody all of Count Lloyd's hobbies and dreams. This makes it large for a KMF. It boasts the highest level of firepower and is equipped with hadron cannons on both shoulders. It is also equipped with an electronic analysis system and a druid system. Due to its size, it also has the drawback of being difficult to maneuver. It seats two people inside, and Lelouch and C.C. both rode in it. The black and gold colours of the machine are also very cool, I think. It's the perfect machine for Lelouch to pilot as a rebel.
Knightmare Frame Lancelot
The pilot is Suzaku. The Lancelot's distinctive feature is its maneuverability. The Core Luminous, the core of Count Lloyd's original Yggdrasil Drive system, uses a significantly higher amount of Sakuradite than any other KMF, giving it unparalleled combat capabilities. The unit's color is primarily white, which is why it's sometimes referred to as the "White Helmet." Because it became so high performance, there were no pilots who could pilot it properly, but Suzaku had a high compatibility rate of 94% with the Lancelot, so he was chosen as its pilot. The Lancelot is a machine that is perfect for Suzaku to pilot. The color also suits Suzaku perfectly. In R2, an evolved version of the machine appears as the Lancelot Albion. It also has wings and is cool.
Nightmare Frame Guren Nishiki
This is the Black Knights' strongest KMF, made entirely in Japan. It is piloted by Karen. It has the potential to fight on equal terms with Lancelot. Its most distinctive feature is its sharp, claw-like right hand, and the retractable crank that supports it allows it to maintain long-term engagement. This allows it to remain within range even from a distance of approximately one KMF. Its right arm also has a built-in radiation wave mechanism that generates high-power electromagnetic waves at high frequencies, generating an immense amount of heat and bombarding its opponents. The suit's coloring is red, as its name suggests. A red suit is also very cool. As the story progresses, it is improved and evolves, but I like the earliest form the best because it is easy to understand.
Nightmare Frame Summary
While there are many KMFs in Code Geass, the ones piloted by the main characters are the most appealing. The coloring of these three KMFs matches the characters perfectly, making them easy to understand. Be sure to pay attention to the abilities of the KMFs as well as the Geass!
