The anime "Yagate Kimi ni Naru" has been airing since October 2018. It is based on the manga of the same name by Nakatani Nio, which is currently being serialized in the manga magazine "Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh". The story begins with the protagonist Koito Yu, a first-year high school student who does not understand the feeling of falling in love, being confessed to by a close friend at the time of graduating from junior high school, but not being able to reply. After entering high school, she is still struggling to respond, so she consults with Nanami Touko, a second-year student and member of the student council. Nanami says that she is not moved by anyone who confesses to her, but immediately after hearing Koito's consultation, she confesses, "I think I'm falling in love with you"... This is a work that depicts the love story between Koito and Nanami. In this article, I would like to introduce my own ranking of the best scenes from "Yagate Kimi ni Naru".
10th place: Maki sees through Koito's lie

When Maki Seiji, who mistakenly thought that Koito Yuu and Nanami Touko were dating, was teasing Koito. When Koito says, "I don't fall in love with anyone," Maki responds, "Then you're just like me." Afterwards, Maki says that he thinks it's good and understands when he sees other people's love lives, but somehow it feels like it's not his world. Koito asks if that doesn't make her feel lonely. Maki replies that it's fun to watch everyone from this distance, and when Koito asks if she doesn't feel lonely, she replies that she used to feel lonely, but "You tell me you love me, even though I can't say it back, so I guess I'm not lonely anymore." However, when Maki sees Koito's expression at that moment, he realizes that it's not the expression of someone who isn't lonely. This is a great scene in which Koito realizes that she has been lying to herself and shows a big change in her feelings for Nanami.
9th place: Koito Yuu makes a declaration in front of the entire school

The time when the student council general election campaign speech was held in the gymnasium. Koito Yuu, the person in charge of recommending Nanami Touko, delivers a speech that she has practiced over and over again. After speaking the words she has memorized, Koito ad-libs, "That's why I want to become a student council member." During the election campaign, Nanami was doing everything perfectly, and Koito wondered if she was needed, but if Nanami told her there was something she could do, she declared in front of the entire school, "I want to help Nanami-senpai." This is a memorable scene that shows that something has changed in Koito's mind about Nanami.
8th place: Koito and Nanami holding hands in secret in a group photo

Koito Yu and Nanami Touko are interviewed by the newspaper club about the student council general election. After the interview, Koito and Nanami stand next to each other for a group photo with the other candidates and the person in charge of recommendations, but when they are told to move a little closer, their hands bump into each other. Koito quickly apologizes, but Nanami says "Ah, okay," and something seems off. Sensing this, Koito grabs Nanami's hand just before the photo is taken. What Koito sees is Nanami blushing all the way to her ears. Seeing this, Koito believes that Nanami is someone who doesn't know what it means to be "special" like her because Nanami says, "I've never felt excited when someone tells me they like me," and so she approaches her for advice. However, she feels betrayed, because Nanami is now someone who knows what it means to be "special." It's a sad scene in which Koito feels left out again, but it's a special scene that shows that Nanami is truly in love with Koito.
7th place: Maki Seiji witnesses Koito and Nanami kissing

After witnessing Koito Yuu and Nanami Touko kissing, Maki Seiji later asks Koito, "Are you and Nanami-senpai dating?" Koito asks him not to tell Nanami that she saw them. Maki promises not to tell anyone, but then says, "Koito-san, you really like Nanami-senpai, don't you?" Maki continues, saying that Koito is more worried about Nanami than herself, and that "Nanami-senpai is special." Koito is taken aback by this and stands there, confused, saying, "She's just normal..." This is a great scene that shows that Nanami's presence has changed in Koito's mind.
6th place: Confession at a coffee shop

When Koito Yuu and Nanami Touko visited a coffee shop for a meeting for the student council general election. On this day, Koito had decided to tell Nanami that she could not fall in love with her. And just as she was about to tell him, Nanami said, "I'm not asking you to go out with me." She continued, "I know you can't think of anyone as special. You don't like me either, and that's fine. So let me like you." Koito, who still doesn't understand what "love" or "special" means, seems confused, saying, "That's... weird. I like someone, but I don't want them to like me back." In response, Nanami tells her that she didn't think she could fall in love with someone, but she did, and that's why she's satisfied now and doesn't want to give up on these feelings. Nanami then asks Koito, "No?" and Koito replies, confused, "I don't mind if that's okay." This is a great scene that shows how much Nanami cherishes the feelings she has for Koito.
5th place: The moment Koito lied to Nanami
Source: Bloom Into You © Nakatani Nio / KADOKAWA / Bloom Into You Production Committee
This happened after Nanami Touko suggested reviving the student council play at the school festival. Koito Yuu was looking into the student council play, which was an annual tradition but was discontinued seven years ago, as it seems to have something to do with the student council president from seven years ago. The student council president from seven years ago was Nanami Touko's older sister, who died in a traffic accident. After her sister died, Nanami made an effort to become someone who everyone loved, like her sister. However, thinking about Nanami who continues to act like her sister, even though she is doing things that are too much for her, Koito suggests that she stop the student council play. She says that there will always be someone who will like Nanami even if she doesn't try too hard. Koito said this because she wanted to be with her and like her even after learning the real Nanami, but Nanami responded by saying that she can't stop being special in front of everyone and that she will do the play even if Koito doesn't go with her. Koito realized that she had assumed that Nanami would listen to her and that she would never leave her. So Koito, not wanting to leave Nanami, says, "You don't want to be affirmed as a weak or perfect person, but you want to be with someone. That's why it's me, isn't it?" She continues, "I've never fallen in love with either of my seniors. Not ever, not ever." and lies, "I'm not going to fall in love with my seniors." It's a heartbreaking scene in which Koito realizes that she can't fall in love if she wants to be with Nanami, and so she lies.
4th place: Nanami Touko's confession of the past
Source: Bloom Into You © Nakatani Nio / KADOKAWA / Bloom Into You Production Committee
It was before the election speech and the voting took place in the gymnasium. Nanami Touko didn't look nervous at all. In the midst of all this, Koito Yuu is feeling a bit nervous and tries to go outside, but asks Nanami to come with her. When she goes outside, Koito seems calmer than expected. Nanami realizes that she took her out thinking of her. Then Koito says, "I thought that even if you were nervous, it would be hard to say it...". In reality, Nanami was so nervous that her hands were shaking. Noticing this, Koito asks, "If you're shaking so much, why don't you ask someone, like Saeki-senpai?" However, Nanami immediately replies, "That's no good," and tells Koito about her past when she was ordinary, how something happened that made her unable to remain ordinary, and how now that she's become special rather than ordinary, she wants to remain special. Nanami says, "It's weird to show you a place like this and then call me special..." Koito replies, "What are you talking about now?" in a nonchalant manner. During the election period, Koito, who had been watching Nanami closer than anyone else, said that no matter what Nanami looked like, nothing would change. This is a memorable scene in which Nanami is saved by Koito.
Third place: Study session in Koito's room

When the exam period was approaching. At first, Koito Yuu and Nanami Touko were studying together in the library, but as the exams drew closer, the library began to get crowded. Koito and Nanami have lost a place to study, so Koito invites Nanami to study in her room. Nanami comes to Koito's room, but even when she starts studying, she seems uneasy. Koito approaches Nanami and points out that it's strange, but Nanami replies with a blush, "It's only natural to be excited when you come to the room of a girl you like!" She also tells Koito to be careful of her defenseless behavior. Nanami confides her anxiety, "I'm worried. I have to be you, but you're not." In response, Koito says, "I don't think there's any reason why I have to be Nanami-senpai... but I know that Nanami-senpai needs me the most, so if you ask me to be with you, I'll do it." Hearing this, Nanami says with a blush, "That's what worries me about you, but I like that about you." This is a great scene that conveys Nanami's pure love for Koito.
Second place: Sports festival relay and reward

When they were preparing for the sports festival, Nanami Touko also came to see Koito Yuu who had come to the warehouse. Nanami repeatedly tries to kiss Koito, but Koito says she's busy and wants to get back soon. Nanami then says she'll hold off for now and asks for a reward after the sports festival. The reward is for Koito to kiss Nanami. Koito responds with an exasperated "Well, that's okay." Then, on the day of the sports festival. The student council is to participate in a relay race between clubs, and they gather on the grounds. The relay begins, and the baton is passed from Taku Dojima to Seiji Maki, from Maki to Koito, from Koito to Sayaka Saeki, and finally from Saeki to Nanami. Koito watches the relay to see it through to the finish line, but is captivated by Nanami's running figure. Even after the relay is over, Koito seems a little strange. After the sports festival is over, Koito and Nanami head back to the warehouse. Nanami begs for a reward and waits for him to kiss her, but Koito is anxious that she shouldn't be the one to kiss her, although she doesn't know what's wrong with it. Koito then tells Nanami that it's weird to initiate something when she doesn't even like her, and tries to get Nanami to give up. However, Nanami decides that if she's going to break her promise, she'll start kissing Koito herself. As Nanami kisses Koito, she realizes that she has fallen in love with Nanami, even though she said she didn't. It's a great scene.
No. 1: The moment Nanami Touko fell in love
Source: Bloom Into You © Nakatani Nio / KADOKAWA / Bloom Into You Production Committee
After enrolling in Tohmi Higashi High School, the protagonist Koito Yuu, who was wondering which club to join, is introduced to the student council by her teacher. As she was heading to the student council room to take a look around, she encountered a confession scene. She quickly hid and looked in, and saw a male student confessing to a female student. However, the male student had been rejected and was saying, "I'm not good enough for you at all...", when the female student interrupted her and said, "I just don't intend to go out with anyone who confesses to me." Koito was watching this, but the female student who had been confessed to seemed to have noticed her presence. When she was called out, "Is anyone there?" and went out, it was the female student, Touko Nanami, a member of the student council. Having met Nanami for the first time, Koito thought of Nanami as a "cool senior". When Koito started to visit the student council room, she saw Nanami saying, "Because I've never been excited when someone told me they liked me before," and consulted her about her troubles. The trouble was that after graduating from junior high school, a boy she was close to confessed to her, but she was unable to respond. Koito longed for love, but didn't understand what it meant to be special. Koito thought that Nanami would understand her feelings, so she asked for advice. Immediately after the consultation, Koito received a call from a boy who had confessed to her. Although Koito was nervous, Nanami's hand held hers gave her courage and she was able to reject the confession. Koito hung up the phone and felt relieved, but Nanami wouldn't let go of her hand. While Koito was wondering, Nanami asked, "You said that Yu doesn't understand what's special, right?" and "Don't you think of anyone as special?" Koito answered, "Yes. I'm sure no one," and her senior took her hand, and before she knew it, her senior's face was close to her. Koito continued, "Aren't you just like me...?" Nanami replied, "No, I'm not," and confessed, "Because I think I'm going to fall in love with you." This is a famous scene depicted in the early part of "Bloom Into You" where the relationship between the two begins to move.
