Blue Giant is a work serialized in Big Comic, and it's incredibly interesting! What makes it interesting is that it's a work that is so moving that you can feel the realism and excitement directly from the reader. That's why there are so many famous scenes in this work. I've chosen one scene from Volume 1 to Volume 10 that will especially stay in the reader's mind!

Famous Scene 1: Volume 1 - Go all out and do it with all your might

Dai confesses that he wants to play jazz

Miyamoto Dai's father didn't know what Dai wanted to do in the future or what he would do. One day, when I brought up the topic, Dai said, "I want to play jazz." To be honest, making a living from music is not a realistic idea. Naturally, Dai must have expected that he would be opposed.

Father pushing him

However, his father never opposed Dai's dream. Instead, he pushed him, saying, "Go for it. Go all the way, do it with all your might." I think that no matter what choice Dai made, his father would never have opposed it. With his father's encouragement, Dai became even more absorbed in jazz and rose to greater heights.

Famous scene No. 2 Volume 2 - He's using it

Brother asking for the best

The Miyamoto family consists of four people: the father, the eldest son Masayuki, the second son Dai, and the younger sister Ayaka. Their mother has already passed away, and Masayuki, the reliable eldest son, got a job after graduating from high school, which may be why he began supporting the family financially. The tenor saxophone that Dai owns was too expensive for a high school student, but it was bought for him by his older brother.

A well-used saxophone

The tenor saxophone that his brother bought him was the most expensive saxophone he had in stock. However, instead of buying a cheap one, his brother decided to buy the best saxophone on a 36-month loan. Dai has been playing the saxophone that his brother, who he has always trusted and respected, bought for him, with great enthusiasm, and now it looks nothing like it was brand new and is well-used. When his brother saw the well-used saxophone, he said, "Wow, he's been using it!"

Famous scene 3: Volume 3 - On the stage at the school festival

Dai performing on the stage at the school festival

Dai takes to the stage at the school's school festival, imitating Sonny Rollins' mohawk style. At first, he seems to be seen as a gimmick performer, but once he starts playing, the audience is overwhelmed by his performance, and in no time, everyone is on their feet. The performance gets the audience so excited that they even ask the music teacher to play the piano to perform a jazz arrangement of the school song.

Dai receives cheers at the school festival

When they played the familiar school song, the audience went wild, and the musicians and the audience got into a frenzy. Among them were the basketball club members who were familiar with Dai, Tamada from the soccer club, and Miwa Mai, who went to the jazz festival with Dai, and the venue was filled with incredible enthusiasm. Seeing the overwhelming performance and the enthusiastic audience, the band that was supposed to be the final act had to cancel their performance.

Famous Scene 4: Volume 4 - Revenge

Revenge on the Old Man

Dai, who is going to do an impromptu live performance at a jazz bar, comes to listen to his performance for a certain person. The person is an old man who prefers quiet jazz and who once spoke harsh words to Dai when he was still inexperienced. Dai, who is playing with someone for the first time, is conscious of playing with others and gradually becomes in sync with them.

Dai's improvisation session

Dai's performance is not only energetic to the audience, but also to the other musicians. The pianist, bassist, and drummer are all carried away by the momentum, making it an unforgettable session for them, and at the same time, the older man in the audience, who doesn't like jazz like Dai, is also swept up in the momentum.

The old man called Gyafun

After Dai made a huge impact on the performers and the audience, the old man said, "I told you to be stunned," and Dai decided to leave Sendai and move to Tokyo in search of further growth.

In response to Dai's performance, his teacher Yui said, "You're the best."

Famous scene no. 5: Volume 5 - Meeting with Sawabe Yukiki

Sawabe: We don't need people without talent

Dai met pianist Sawabe Yukiki at a jazz bar introduced to him by the owner of "Take Two." Sawabe's talent and presence were a shock to Dai, but Sawabe was a confident man with an arrogant attitude that said talent was everything.

Sawabe is moved to tears

Although he likes Dai, who is the same age as him, Sawabe said that he would not work with him if he was bad at playing, and when he actually heard Dai play, he pretended to be calm at the time, but he was deeply moved and completely pierced by Dai's performance, and he shed tears in frustration.

The two clash

After hearing their performance, Sawabe was so moved that he cried. He recognized their effort and passion and decided to work with Dai. From then on, they clashed with each other, but they became like buddies who said everything they wanted to say to each other.

Famous Scene ⑥ Volume 6: First Live

First Live

Miyamoto Dai, Sawabe Yuki, and the complete beginner Tamada Shunji plan their first live show. However, no one, including the manager of the jazz bar, had any expectations for the unknown trio's debut live show, and no one paid any attention to it. Even so, Dai tries to gather people by handing out flyers he made himself around town, but in the end, the audience is only regulars.

There were only five people in the audience, but they roared with thunder

The only people in the audience at their debut live performance were the manager and four regulars. In the first live performance, Dai and Sawabe put on a spectacular performance. The audience, which included some salarymen who had seen the flyers and liked the show, were so overwhelmed that they stood up and applauded, and it was a performance that definitely left something behind.

Tamada couldn't do anything

However, this was a bitter memory for Tamada, who could barely keep up. However, from this point on, Tamada showed amazing growth, and the three-man band "JASS", which had only four audience members at first, gradually gained popularity.

Famous Scene No. 7 Volume 7 - Getting Better

JASS gradually gaining popularity

The third live performance for the three. The audience, which was originally only four people, was now 23 this time. The three-person jazz band was steadily winning the hearts of the audience. The number of regulars coming to hear the three perform was also increasing.

Tamada watches the two surrounded by them

Dai and Sawabe are technically excellent and have something that no one else can imitate. That's why people gather around them even after the performance. However, Tamada, who is a beginner at drums, can only do his best to follow the two. In terms of skill, Tamada is far inferior to the two, and one would think that no one would pay any attention to him...

Regulars who support Tamada

In fact, there were some regulars who came to listen to Tamada's growth in anticipation. They were regulars who had been coming to watch from the very beginning. For Tamada, it was a very happy event, as he told him, "I'm here to listen to your drumming, to hear your drumming grow. Your drumming is getting better and better."

Famous scene no. 8 Volume 8: The best so far

Sawabe being scolded

He always aimed to improve, but after being pointed out by Taira, So Blue's salesman, that his playing was arrogant and conventional, he tried to change who he was. Although the harsh criticism was the flip side of expectations, Sawabe was unable to break out of his shell and suffered a slump.

Sawabe has no choice but to do it

Sawabe continued to struggle, but one day at a live performance, Dai encouraged him to play a solo, and he was able to let go of his thoughts and play a performance that exposed his true self.

The three of them playing

From there, the session between the three of them reached its climax. Sawabe seems to have grasped something definite at this live performance.

Best ever

Sawabe has broken out of his shell and finally grasped what he had been pursuing. The performance made the venue even more excited, and Tamada thought to himself that it was the best ever.

Famous scene no. 9: Volume 9 - Because I was annoyed

Sawabe tries to beat Act

JASS was nominated for a small town revitalization jazz festival, but their role was to open for the popular jazz band Act. The leader of that band, Amanuma, calls them young, energetic, and without style, saying that they are just teenagers with nothing going for them. Sawabe, annoyed by his words, tells them, "We will beat Act."

A heated live performance

On the day of the festival, the three will liven up the venue with a performance full of dynamism that is not just youthful and energetic. The performance and enthusiasm will also be conveyed to the act Amanuma. The final performance will be a solo by Tamada.

Amanuma praises the trio

Amanuma applauds the trio. The trio's performance exceeds Amanuma's expectations, and Amanuma acknowledges this and praises the trio. The momentum seems to have spread to Amanuma, who is the final act, as he plays with a soulful performance and the festival closes with a bang.

Famous scene no. 10 Volume 10: Let's perform again sometime

Sawabe gets hit

Thanks to Sawabe's performance at So Blue, it is decided that JASS will finally perform at So Blue. While working part-time as a traffic controller, Sawabe was thinking. He intended to use Dai as a stepping stone and never trusted Tamada from the beginning. But without these three people, he may not have come this far. It's good that the three of them teamed up, and will continue to do so... At the moment he thought this, Sawabe was hit by a runaway truck.

Live just the two of us

Sawabe gets into an accident and can't perform on stage. Still, Dai thinks he can't stop, so he and Tamada decide to go on stage together. The performance was a live performance where many different emotions swirled.

JASS Disbandment

After the concert, Sawabe suggested disbanding while visiting Dai. It was for Dai, who couldn't stay still for even a day. Sawabe said that he would definitely heal his injuries one day and "let's perform again someday."
