The much-anticipated drama "Kekkon Ring Story," scheduled to air in winter 2024, is an alternate-world newlywed fantasy about five rings, five brides, and a showdown with the Abyss King, who threatens the world! The story revolves around the protagonist Sato and five heroines. Here, we've compiled a list of the main characters of "Kekkon Ring Story"!
Character #1: Sato
He's an ordinary high school student. He's been close with his childhood friend and classmate Hime (Nonaka Himeno) since childhood. They promised to marry each other as children, but their relationship never went beyond romantic. Despite his feelings for her, he's been unable to take the first step. One day, Sato is shocked when Hime tells him that she is moving to her grandfather's hometown. However, relying on his childhood memories, he follows her and arrives at a different world. After Hime entrusts him with a ring, they marry and he becomes the Ring King. However, in order to gain his true power, he is tasked with marrying four other princesses and obtaining the rings himself.
Character #2: Hime / Himeno Nonaka (Krystle Novati Nocanatica)
A high school girl who is Sato's childhood friend. Her real name is Crystle Novati Nocanatica, a resident of another world and princess of Nocanatica, the Land of Light. She lived in modern-day Japan with Sato for 10 years to escape the clutches of the Abyss King, but returned to fulfill her mission as a princess. Originally, she was meant to marry her chosen partner, but when Sato followed Hime, she presented him with a Ring of Light and chose him as her hero (marriage partner). Although she and Sato were in love, she never expressed her feelings due to her own personal mission. However, after they became engaged, their bond gradually deepened.
Character #3: Alabasta
Hime's grandfather. A wise man who traveled to another world with Hime to protect her from the clutches of the Abyss King. He is knowledgeable and an excellent magician. He is a good friend of Satou and Hime, offering good advice both in public and private. He is a kind old man who accompanies Satou and Hime on their journey as a reliable companion.
Character #4: Mars (Marmarigias Gisalas)
Hime's original husband, the second prince of the Gisalas Empire, was destined to assume the role of Ring King, but his position was taken away when Satou was chosen as his wife just before the event. However, he himself shows no attachment to becoming the Ring Lord, and is supportive of Sato, saying that he never really wanted to become the Ring Lord. He is a good friend who supports Sato and his friends, but his characterization makes him seem suspicious. In reality, he was happy to be released from his duties because he had a crush on Saphira, and his trust in Sato and his friends was genuine. However, the Gizarus Empire's intentions were different, and he was caught between his position as the Empire's second prince and his position as the Ring Lord.
Character #5: Nefritis Romka
The princess of Romka, the Land of Wind, where elves live. He is Satou's second wife, possessing the Wind Ring. However, he is extremely shy and withdrawn. When confronted by Satou, he becomes so nervous that he vomits, making for an embarrassing sight. However, he is actually strong-willed, and although he is afraid to go outside, he has a stronger yearning for the outside world than most.
Character #6: Jade Romka
Nephrites' older brother. While he appears earnest and gentle, he dotes on Nephrites and is extremely overprotective of her, becoming an extremely siscon. He has a troublesome personality, changing his personality when it comes to Nephrites, but he has a strong desire to protect the elven kingdom.
Character #7: Peridote
An elven elder with distinctive dark skin. He rescues Sato, who has been under semi-house arrest, and brings him to Nephrites. He is concerned about the current state of the elves, who have been stagnant due to the barrier that has been put in place to cut off contact with the outside world. He was actually a former partner of the Lord of the Rings, and knows his past.
Character #8: Smaragdi
The older sister of the previous queen. Formerly the first heir to the ring. She fell in love with a human, and when that human went missing, she suspected an elf had been behind the scenes, leaving behind a curse and fleeing. She later appeared as a knight of the Abyss King, but was freed from her curse by Sato. The truth is that a human man could not bear being shunned by his own people because of her, and so he withdrew from the ring. This person was the young Alabasta sage.
Character #9: Granato Nidakitta
The princess of Nidakitta, the land of fire where cat people live. She's a bold and aggressive princess, even going so far as to challenge opponents to a duel under the guise of an arranged marriage, and boast that she'll marry whoever she chooses. In fact, her combat abilities are so high that no one had ever been able to defeat her before. She's such a carnivorous princess that she immediately approached Satou after losing a duel with him, but she also has a timid side when the situation calls for it.
Character 10: Saphir Martha
She is the princess of Martha, a water kingdom inhabited by dragon people. She speaks in an old-fashioned way, is intelligent, rational, and straightforward, and readily decides to marry Satou. Unlike the other princesses, she has a clearly infantile physique, but in times of crisis, she possesses the trump card of transforming into a giant dragon. However, this ability is apparently extremely draining, and she only wants to do it when absolutely necessary. She dotes on her twin sister, Saphir.
Character 11: Saphira Martha
Saphira's younger sister. She originally fell in love with Marth, who came to the Empire as part of a plot, but their positions prevented them from marrying. She was delighted to learn that Marth's appointment as Lord of the Rings would allow them to marry in any way. However, they drifted apart when Marth did not become Lord of the Rings.
Character 12: Sluder Gisalas
Marth's older brother, a powerful man known as the Undefeated General. He faithfully follows the Emperor's orders and has annexed numerous nations. He is a cold-hearted warrior who is devoted to his duties, but he is also a capable commander who calmly analyzes the battle situation and makes accurate decisions. While he does not mix business with personal matters, he cares about his younger brother Marth and respects Sato, the Ring King.
Character 13: Ambal Idanokan
She is the princess of Idanokan, the earthen kingdom inhabited by dwarves. The dwarven kingdom had already been destroyed in a battle with the Abyss King, and its whereabouts were unknown. However, Ambal, who was created as a substitute for the dwarven princess just before its destruction, transported her to Sato's world with a ring, where she has been waiting for hundreds of years. During that time, she has been mistaken for a monster or a god. While she rarely shows her emotions, she does have a playful side.
Character 14: Morion Lovely Nocanatica
Hime's younger sister. After Hime fled to Sato's world, Morion took over the magical training that Hime was supposed to receive. He was her de facto teacher during her magical training as part of her bride training. Although she has a cheeky personality and often teases and picks on Hime, the two sisters get along well. She also secretly shows signs of caring about Sato.
Character 15: Emperor Gisalath
A tyrant who continues to annex nations through military force. He is the father of Marth and Sluder. While he forcibly annexed weak nations through military force, he can also be seen as uniting humanity and continuing the fight against the Abyss King, even if it was by force. Many nations have come under his protection. Though cold-hearted, he excels in strategy and domestic affairs, and has established an economic foundation to counter the Abyss King. A realist who uses whatever is available, whether legendary or otherwise, to make the best of it, his attempt to use Marth as the Ring King was one example of this. On the other hand, I don't think there's any legend about the ring that can be absolutely trusted.
