The second season of "Weak Character Tomozaki-kun," a youthful romantic comedy that also depicts the growth of each character as an individual, will begin airing next year. It's been roughly three years since the first season aired, so many people are excited for the new series. The series features a variety of characters, including the protagonist and heroine, but who is the most popular? In this article, I'd like to introduce a ranking of the most popular characters, along with my own thoughts!
Introduction: What's the story?
High school student Fumiya Tomozaki calls life a "crappy game," but he's also skilled enough to reign supreme in the legendary game "Attack Families" (abbreviated as "AtaFami"). Tomozaki himself enjoys the game deeply. One day, he meets the second-ranked player in real life, who turns out to be Hinami Aoi, a girl in his class who is the heroine of his generation. She cannot forgive Tomozaki, a player she respects, for running away from the "divine game" known as life, and urges him to take it seriously. A strange master-disciple relationship develops between Tomozaki and Hinan, and Tomozaki begins to spend his days completing Hinan's assignments one by one in order to become a "real-life happy person."
5th Place: Takahiro Mizusawa
In fifth place is Takahiro Mizusawa. He is Tomozaki's classmate and a handsome guy. His character is the polar opposite of Tomozaki, like a male version of Aoi Hinan. He calls Tomozaki by his first name, "Fumiya," and is one of Tomozaki's few friends. He often gives Tomozaki advice about love and has many famous quotes throughout the series. While not a main character, he plays a major role in the protagonist's growth, so we've included him in this ranking.
4th Place: Tomozaki Fumiya
In fourth place is the protagonist, Tomozaki Fumiya. While the achievements of three characters, including Hinami Aoi, are impressive, the highlight of this series is the protagonist's growth through his connections with others. In fact, comparing the first episode with the finale, there are many scenes that demonstrate his significant growth as a person. Seeing this growth process is very inspiring for readers and viewers. Perhaps the series' ratings will rise even further in the second season.
3rd Place: Aoi Hinami
3rd place goes to Aoi Hinami. A talented athlete, she excels in both academics and sports, making her popular with both men and women. She's the polar opposite of Tomozaki, and after meeting him through a game, she gives him challenges to master the "game" of life. When she first appears, she verbally abuses Tomozaki and criticizes his way of thinking, but this is also a reflection of her confidence in her constant efforts to present herself in a good light. This assertiveness, combined with her cuteness, makes her a popular character.
Second Place: Fuka Kikuchi
Second place goes to Fuka Kikuchi. Among the heroines in the story, she exudes a quiet and mysterious aura. Because of her love of reading, she's been called the library angel or library fairy. She may also have a bit of a mysterious side. While she doesn't usually talk much with the opposite sex, there are times when she opens up to Tomozaki, showing signs of her personal growth.
1st Place: Minami Nanami
The honorable first place goes to Minami Nanami. She's cheerful, cute, and popular in her class. However, she also has some surprising aspects, such as her complex about not being able to beat Aoi in sports or academics. The author has said that she imagined her as "the most normal of the heroines." Indeed, she holds a well-balanced position among the three heroines. This is likely what captured the hearts of readers and viewers, making her so popular.
Popular Character Ranking Summary
Three heroines made it into the top three. How well did the ranking match your predictions? There are other attractive female characters who aren't heroines, but who are nonetheless. Depending on how well they do in the second season, such characters may even make it onto the rankings. And we're even more excited to see the main character, Tomozaki Fumiya, in action! That's all for today. Thank you for reading.
