Airing from October 2019, Val x Love (Sen x Koi) is a romantic comedy and battle series featuring nine strong and adorable Valkily girls who end up sharing a room with the protagonist. Let's take a look at each of these nine Valkily girls!
Introduction to the Valkily Girls
The Valkily girls come to the protagonist's side to fight against the demons that have appeared on Earth and are trying to destroy the world. The source of their power is love, and they grow through love. The protagonist, Takuma Akutsu, is chosen to play the role of their lover (Einherjar), and he lives with them, raising the Valki. The origins of their names are taken from Richard Wagner's "The Ring of the Nibelung."
Seventh Girl: Saotome Nanaki "Siegrune" / Voiced by Hondo Kaede
She becomes Takuma's classmate, and her cuteness has led to fan clubs at other schools. As a classmate, she is often involved with Takuma, making her the main heroine of the Valki. Although she has smaller breasts than her sisters and doesn't seem to be very good at studying, she has a serious and well-behaved personality. She's a typical tsundere, and because she tends to get into some kind of erotic situation when interacting with Takuma, she tends to act cold towards him, but deep down she appreciates his efforts.
Ability: Swords
Saotome's ability is Swords. In battle, she summons a large number of swords and uses them to attack, and she also uses a sword herself. Fifth Maiden: Saotome Ikuya "Schwertleite" / Voiced by Kakuma Ai
Despite transferring to the same high school as Takuma, she gained overwhelming popularity thanks to her beauty and skill, becoming the student council president. She's dissatisfied with Nanaki's decision to prioritize leveling up, and pursues Takuma herself, but this is only for the sake of her beloved father, making her a daddy's girl. She seems to like people who let her be pampered. While generally reliable, she can easily get worked up when the time comes.
Ability: Chains
This ability creates chains to capture targets, preventing them from moving or even enjoying the coolness of their surroundings. However, since she lacks direct firepower, she seems to need the help of other Valki Maidens to annihilate enemies. Her true value is revealed when used in combination.
Sixth Sister, Saotome Mutsumi "Helmwige" / Voiced by Rina Hidaka
A Valki Maiden who attends the same high school as Takuma, along with Nanaki and Itsuka. She's also active as an idol group called "MUTSUMI," and while she doesn't seem to attend school often, she excels, ranking within the top 30 in regular tests. However, she's actually timid and reserved, and only became an idol because the other Valki Maidens forced her to do so. However, this experience has helped her gain confidence, and it seems to have worked to her advantage. She has a tendency to fantasize and has a masochistic streak. She has the biggest breasts of the sisters.
Ability: Wings
This ability allows her to sprout wings and fly through the sky. She flies freely across the battlefield, possessing excellent mobility and unparalleled evasion and escape abilities, but her offensive abilities are not particularly impressive. Still, with her blinding speed, this ability is likely to be useful in many situations.
Eldest daughter: Saotome Ichika "Brunhilde" / Voiced by Uchiyama Yumi
Although she is the eldest Valkyrie, she did not acknowledge Takuma when they first met, and they did not share a room. While strict and caring towards her younger sister, she is relied upon by her sister, and her emotions are easily visible on her face when she is happy. Her unique constitution as a tree master gives her special ability: "ultra-sensitive skin." This ability allows her to sense the presence of enemies in battle, but she is more sensitive than most.
Ability: Spear
Even at level 1 and untransformed, she possesses exceptional combat abilities, far surpassing those of other Valki Maidens to date. However, her AP cap is at its lowest, and once transformed, she instantly runs out of AP and becomes unable to stand. Second Daughter, Saotome Futaba "Gerhilde" / Voiced by Hara Yumi
She has a gentle personality, and after sharing a room with her, she takes on a caring, motherly role, taking care of all household chores. She usually has narrowed eyes and is extremely visually impaired, but when she puts on glasses, she displays extraordinary combat abilities, transforming into a panty hunter, relentlessly pursuing panties. For this reason, when wearing glasses, Futaba is feared as "Her Majesty the Queen."
Ability: Castle
Saotome Futaba has the ability to summon the "Hall of Warriors" (Valhalla) and summon all manner of weapons to fight. The third daughter has a big sister-like personality. She's easygoing and caring, making clothes and stuffed toys for her younger Valkiries. She's practically in charge of taking care of the younger Valkis. She has a weakness for slimy things, which seems to have caused her some kind of trauma.
Ability: Thread
This ability allows her to manipulate thread to create decoys, suture wounds, and even spread it out to detect target movements, acting as a radar. While this ability is highly versatile, it lacks direct firepower. Additionally, at level 1, she can only manipulate threads from the human world.
Fourth Daughter, Saotome Shino "Valtraute" / Voiced by Aida Rikako
She always wears a helmet that covers the upper half of her face, and lives alone in a storehouse away from the house. This is due to her extremely frail constitution, caused by her work as an arborist. She easily becomes tired and falls asleep easily, so she usually wears the "Time-Walking Helmet" to conserve her energy. It seems she has some kind of connection to the protagonist.
Ability: Armor
Though the armor's ability is expected to provide excellent defensive capabilities, there are currently no opportunities for it to be put to good use. Due to her frail constitution, her movements in the human world are limited, and she is currently unable to participate in combat. Her abilities are also still unknown.
Yame Saotome Yakumo "Grimgerde" / Voiced by Maki Kawase
She has a sharp tongue and a devilish personality. She is cool and rarely shows her emotions. She is a tree master, and her unique trait is her superhuman hearing, allowing her to hear even the tiniest sounds. However, her sharp hearing causes her to hear everything, which interferes with her daily life, so she always wears headphones.
Ability: Sound
By manipulating sound, Yakumo primarily serves as a buff for allies. Her excellent hearing allows her to detect enemy movements through sound. While she appears to have minimal defensive capabilities, she has almost no offensive capabilities. She truly shines when working with her sisters.
Ninth Lady Saotome Kururi "Rossweisse" / Voiced by Koiwai Kotori
The youngest Valki, she has a cheerful and innocent personality. Because she's more of a warrior girl than a Valki, it's difficult for her to participate in actual combat. Despite being a young girl, she seems to be a genius, constantly developing amazing mecha. However, due to her young age and the difficulty of using materials from the human world, most of her creations are defective.
Ability: Cannon
Even among the Valki Maidens, she wields a powerful cannon, possessing unparalleled firepower. However, as a young girl, she is not currently in a position to actively participate in combat. However, she possesses superior firepower compared to her sisters, and it seems she will participate in combat somehow in the future.
