Originally a manga that began on Twitter, later serialized as a webcomic and later adapted into an anime, "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!" is a slapstick comedy about a senior who one person has a crush on and an annoying but cute junior colleague. The story basically revolves around the protagonist, senior Sakurai Shinichi, and the annoying but cute heroine Uzaki-chan, but the character from the reader's perspective who sets up the relationship between the two and finds it amusing is Sakaki, who appears as Shinichi's friend. I would like to introduce Sakaki Itsuji, a convenient secondary character!

Sakaki Itsuhito, Shinichi's one of the few friends who is a good-looking guy who can do anything and is popular with women.

Sakaki's first appearance

He's a friend of the protagonist, Sakurai Shinichi, who attends university in the same year. He's handsome, his parents are wealthy, he's good at sports, and he's popular with women. He's a perfect guy, so it's hard to like him. He's not a bad guy, but he's not a bad guy either, and he makes sexually harassing remarks without a second thought, and he doesn't have a good personality. He calls his senior "Saku" (meaning "Saku"), and he constantly tells his senior, who usually acts alone, "Your life is boring. Get a girlfriend."

Sakaki Itsuto, one of Sakurai Shinichi's few friends, appears due to the author's convenience.

Sakaki appears due to convenience

Originally, Sakaki was added because it would be a shame for Senpai to be thought of as a genuine loner. While it wasn't explicitly stated that he wasn't without friends, he was practically a genuine loner before Sakaki's appearance. Since his appearance, he's always been a busybody, trying to get Senpai and Uzaki-chan together.

Sakaki is at odds with Ajia Ami, but leaving him alone would only lead to more trouble, right?

Uzaki and Ami

Ami and Sakaki share the same age and watch over Senpai and Uzaki-chan. Their positions overlap, but they clash over their differences: one is to "actively intervene and set the stage" and the other is to "enjoy watching the natural progression without setting any stage." However, Ami gives in, not wanting the two of them to make progress on their own, and the two reluctantly agree to intervene to a certain extent. However, considering what happens later, Ami tends to get a little out of control.

Sakaki as the male best friend, Ami as the female best friend

Sakaki and Ami 2

Sakaki and Ami have similar roles. They both have a third-person perspective, are roughly the same age and in a similar position, and are ruthlessly useful characters in the story, interfering with the relationship between Senpai and Uzaki, providing explanations and starting points for the story. However, apart from their gender, they are differentiated by their proactive stance in trying to bring the two together and their reluctance to intervene.

Sakaki Itsuji is a useful man with the same versatility as Giovanni.

Rich Sakaki

He's an outdoorsy guy with a keen eye, and comes from a wealthy family who even owns a vacation home, making him a highly capable man with the ability to make opportunistic moves. However, since Senpai and Uzaki-chan often behave unpredictably, strategies to get the two together often don't have much success. Well, if they do end up together, it's kind of like the final episode.

A Man Who's Too Competent to Take on Unnecessary Hardships

Uzaki in Hardships

He proposed something rather questionable when planning the school festival stamp rally, but it was approved, and instead he was forced to cooperate with the organizing committee. It seems like his own words have caused unnecessary hardships, but he's a very capable man, having handled all of them. However, because of this, he ends up missing out on the most interesting part of the show.

Uzaki Sakaki is a man who is harsh to his fellow men and earns unnecessary resentment.

The sharp-tongued handsome Sakaki

Although he's kind to women, he has a harsh side to his fellow men, and whether he's at fault or not, he seems to have earned resentment from all sides. He attended a group date and snatched away all the girls, which earned him the hatred of the other men. However, he admits that he only attended out of necessity to make up the numbers, and that it was their fault that the group date failed and he couldn't entertain the girls. He has no mercy on the men, berating them with sound reason.

Even futsal?

Deadly Shot

Later, she's challenged to a futsal match by a group of effeminate boys, but she single-handedly scores almost all of the goals, completely shattering their pride. However, she accidentally advises a senior on her team who mostly just runs around, "If the ball comes your way, kick it toward the goal." The powerful senior then uses his deadly shot to take out every last one of the effeminate boys, and she can't bear it any longer, so she runs away.

[Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!] Summary by Sakaki Itsunori

Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! is basically a comedy about Sakurai Shinichi, a surly, clumsy senior who likes to be alone, and Uzaki-chan, who is always annoying him, but I think third-person characters like Sakaki further develop the story and make it more interesting! He's a handsome guy who's a bit of an idiot, but I think he's a very important character!
