ULTRAMAN is set 40 years after Ultraman left Earth, and depicts a battle that is a little different from previous Ultraman stories. Amidst all this, the Science Special Search Party, the organization that protected Earth from invaders, is still going strong. In fact, some familiar characters also make an appearance. Science Special Search Team Mitsuhiro Ide

Mitsuhiro Ide is the director of the Institute of Science and Technology and the curator of the Giants of Light Memorial Museum. He is a powerful figure in the Science Special Search Party and is often seen discussing strategies with Ed, but he generally follows Ed's orders.

Science Special Search Party: Shin Hayata

Shin Hayata is the father of the main character, Shinjiro Hayata. Although he was actually a member of the Science Patrol at the time, he hid this from those around him and assimilated with Ultraman to fight alien invaders. However, when the story begins, he has lost his memory from the time Ultraman arrived on Earth to the time he left, and does not remember fighting by assimilating with Ultraman. After losing his memory, he hides the fact that he has superhuman powers and, at the start of the story, devotes himself to his work as Minister of Defense. Feeling uneasy about his past, he seeks out his former Science Patrol colleague, Ide, who tells him that his Ultraman genes, which allowed him to fight by assimilating with Ultraman, have been passed down to his son, Shinjiro, giving him superhuman physical strength as well.

Shin Hayata fought by merging with Ultraman. His transformation into Ultraman came about when Ultraman was pursuing Bemular above Lake Ryugamori. Hayata's red orb came into contact with the Ultraman, killing him. However, he was revived by becoming one with Ultraman. His job was as a member of the Science Special Search Party. He secretly transformed into Ultraman and played the role of defeating monsters.

Shinjiro Hayata's son, Shinjiro, inherited the Ultraman gene. After being attacked by Bemular, he began working as Ultraman. He fought alongside his father, and although he was initially hesitant to kill aliens, it seems he became a true Ultraman after his battle with Ace Killer.

At first glance, Dan Moroboshi appears to be an Earthling, but he is actually an alien. He is nicknamed Seven because he fights using the Ultraman Suit Ver. 7. His true identity remains a mystery, as he continues to use new weapons. He fights his twin brother, Rei, but once beheaded him, claiming that Rei's soul was not present in him.

His name likely comes from Officer Dan Moroboshi, who appeared in Ultraman Seven. He is Ultraman Seven's temporary Earth-based form, and his consciousness is completely alien.
Science Special Search Party Ed

Ed, a descendant of the Zetton species, also serves as a liaison with the Cluster Council. He often acts on his orders, and although he serves as the representative of aliens on Earth, he does not seem to be acting with complete agreement with the Cluster Council. Even when facing the Cluster Council, he issues orders like "Go into battle without hesitation!", so his true intentions are still unknown.

An enemy that appeared in Ultraman, it killed Ultraman and Shin Hayata, who had merged with Ultraman. Zoffy splits Ultraman and Shin Hayata into two again and revives them. Despite being the strongest enemy, they are ultimately defeated by the Science Special Search Party.

Officer Fuji played the heroine in Ultraman. Her romantic relationship with Hayata never progressed, and unfortunately, Hayata and Fuji do not marry in this film.
Science Special Search Party: Final Thoughts
The Science Special Search Party's iconic markings are featured on the new Ultraman suit. When I first watched Ultraman, the Science Special Search Party seemed less heroic, being a hindrance to Ultraman's arrival and missing the appearance of monsters. However, in this film, they truly play the heroic role!
