ULTRAMAN is set in a world after Ultraman has left, and depicts the battle between Earth and aliens who are plotting another invasion. While the setting and fighting methods are quite different from previous Ultraman films, his position as a hero who saves the Earth remains the same. It also features familiar characters and villains from the Ultra series. In this article, we will introduce Moroboshi Dan, the hero who saves the Earth.
What kind of person is Moroboshi Dan?

When protagonist Shinjiro Hayata was pondering whether to become Ultraman, Dan Moroboshi was the one who mentored him. While he looks completely human, he's actually an alien. When Moroboshi Dan first appeared, he was not Ultraman, but he began his activities as Ultraman under the nickname Seven, wearing the Ultraman Suit Ver. 7. The reason he usually wears glasses is probably because the trigger for his transformation into Ultra Seven was putting on the Ultra Eye. He has a very calm and collected personality, but can also be merciless. Perhaps he accepts evil as evil. He is often seen cutting down evil aliens with a single slash.
The name comes from Dan Moroboshi, who appeared in Ultra Seven.

Dan Moroboshi, who appeared in Ultra Seven, is actually a temporary form for Seven to live on Earth. In other words, he is completely Seven on the inside, which is fundamentally different from the setting in which Ultraman was assimilated with Shin Hayata. The setting that Moroboshi Dan is an alien in ULTRAMAN is probably due to the fact that he looks like an Earthling, but inside he is Seven.

While Shinjiro Hayata's Ultraman Gene gives him naturally strong bodies, pushing them beyond their limits with each battle, Dan Moroboshi uses new weapons in every battle. And after each battle, he returns to training, a cycle that continues. In his battle with the Lion Brothers, he appears riding a new bike! But then he transforms into a human form and attacks his opponent with a powerful Specium weapon. Moroboshi uses new weapons in every battle, and the Science Special Search Party is the one that makes them. How powerful will his weapons become in the future?!

Dan Moroboshi has been a member of the Science Special Search Party since its inception. While he may seem like an Earthling, he's actually an alien. Moroboshi's father was a diplomat, but when he was still a child, he was caught up in a terrorist attack on the planet where he was stationed, and his parents were killed as a warning to others. He also had a twin brother, Rei, who was kidnapped by the terrorists. Moroboshi had been helping his twin brother, Rei, since they were children, but this time it seems that Rei was the one who helped Moroboshi.

Ray was kidnapped by terrorists. When the Dark Star began its attack on New York, Ray also appeared as a terrorist. Moroboshi fought Ray one-on-one. He tells Rei about himself, but in fact Rei's body has already been taken over and someone else is inside. When Moroboshi finds out, his opponent tries to lead him into feeling sympathy, but he tells him that Rei's soul is not there, and he beheads his opponent, ending the fight.

While Shinjiro was debating whether to become Ultraman, Moroboshi began working as Ultraman. Moroboshi dismissed Shinjiro, telling him that it meant he wasn't the only one capable of becoming Ultraman. Although their relationship initially portrayed an awkward rivalry, once Shinjiro began fighting as Ultraman, scenes like this became less common. Their first joint battle was a series of murders perpetrated by Rena Sayama's fans. After that, they began appearing together more and more.
Dan Moroboshi in a Critical Situation
So far, there has only been one occasion where Dan Moroboshi has found himself in a difficult position. That was during his battle with Ace Killer. Shinjiro and Moroboshi were caught helplessly by the overwhelming force of the mercenary group. Hokuto appears, but is quickly defeated. Jack, Red, and Shin Hayata arrive to help. The battle continues, and Hokuto fights without regard for his own life, defeating Ace Killer. He is later saved by Bemular. Shinjiro then releases his limiter of his own volition and defeats one of the enemies. As for Moroboshi, he is rescued by Jack and quickly escapes from the constituency. This battle was Moroboshi's most uncool one.
Moroboshi Dan: Final Thoughts
