Why did Hendrickson take command of the Holy Knights and attempt to recapture Elizabeth and defeat the Seven Deadly Sins? Danafor was wiped out by a mysterious calamity. (Note: The cause of the disappearance was Meliodas blowing up his lover Liz in rage over her death, but in Liones it is said to be a mysterious calamity.)

Ten years ago, Hendrickson visited Danafor with his one and only friend, Dreyfus, to investigate the cause. It all began when, in the ruined country of Danafor, he encountered someone he should never have met.

Meeting Fraudrin, one of the Ten Commandments.

Under the great pit of Danafor, Hendrickson encountered Fraudrin, one of the Ten Commandments, a demon race, and his body was taken over. Seeing this, Dreyfus offered his own body to Hendrickson to protect him, telling him to do as he pleased. Fraudrin, one of the Ten Commandments, then took over Dreyfus' body, and Hendrickson, too, was subject to Fraudrin's mind-controlling techniques.

Members of the Seven Deadly Sins are wanted for the murder of Zaratras, the leader of the Holy Knights, and their attempted overthrow of the kingdom 10 years ago. However, the real culprits are Dreyfus and Hendrickson. They framed the Seven Deadly Sins and became the two great Holy Knights of the Kingdom of Liones. This was all done by Fraudrin, the being inside Dreyfus, in order to eliminate Zaratras and the Seven Deadly Sins, who seemed to be getting in the way of breaking the seal on the Demon Clan (the Ten Commandments).

His quest to steal Meliodas's broken sword and Elizabeth, both of which are necessary to revive the Demon Clan (the Ten Commandments), is taking him down a dangerous path. As a result, some Holy Knights begin to question whether they are truly doing the right thing and whether the Seven Deadly Sins are truly evil.

Hendrickson was thought to have been defeated by Meliodas, but in fact, he was still alive, albeit on the brink of death. Just as Hendrickson prepares to die, Dreyfus appears and saves him by giving him his blood to drink, and entrusts him with the "Coffin of Eternal Darkness" and "Blood of the Goddess's Apostle," which hold the keys to the revival of the Demon Clan (the Ten Commandments).

Afterwards, despite struggling against the Goddess Clan's traps, Hendrickson succeeds in reviving the Demon Clan (the Ten Commandments). Hendrickson's role was to break the seal, no matter what kind of trap was set, and revive the Ten Commandments, in other words, to act as a decoy.

Dreyfus thanks Hendrickson for successfully reviving the Ten Commandments, saying that he will spare Hendrickson. When he wakes up, he is shocked by the Ten Commandments' ominous appearance and quickly leaves the scene.

Gilthunder, Hauser, and Griamor wonder if Dreyfus's behavior was strange. They decide to set out on a journey to find out the truth. During their journey, they encounter a gray demon and, while struggling, Hendrickson suddenly appears and joins the fight. Griamor, who sees the Grey Demon as his father's enemy, is particularly confused, but Hendrickson's magical power, Purge, successfully defeats the Grey Demon.

The truth revealed to the three by Hendrickson.

After successfully defeating the Grey Demon, Hendrickson tells the three the truth: what happened in the fallen country of Danafor 10 years ago; that Dreyfus is still alive but is actually Fraudrin; and that it was Dreyfus and Hendrickson who killed Zarathras. Gilthunder and the others now know the whole truth, and the mystery of their uneasy feelings toward Dreyfus is resolved. Hendrickson then joins the Seven Deadly Sins in the fight against the Ten Commandments.
