The Seven Deadly Sins is a hugely popular fantasy adventure series currently running in Weekly Shonen Magazine. This time, we'll be focusing on King, a member of the Seven Deadly Sins! He's so popular that he even beat out the main character, Meliodas, to take the top spot in a popularity poll! Why is he so popular? We'll be taking a closer look at King's charms and the secret behind his popularity.
Is King a fat old man? Or a boy?

When King's wanted poster was published, he was a fat, mean-looking old man. However, the person who actually appeared before Meliodas and the others was a boy around 10 years old! In fact, when he served as a Holy Knight in the Kingdom of Liones, he was an old man about 180 cm tall, but that was the etiquette of the human world (King said it was his formal attire). Perhaps fairies have always had the appearance of young boys, so he admires them? LOL It's interesting how King thinks that the appearance of a fat old man is polite!
Is his actual age 1300 years old?! The Fairy King.

The true identity of King from The Seven Deadly Sins is the Fairy King Harlequin. King is just a nickname given to him in the human world. The lifespan of a fairy is said to be 1000 to 1500 years, but King's real age is about 1300 years. It seems that the lifespan of fairies varies depending on the strength of their magical powers, and Gerard, who has served as an assistant to the fairy king, is about 4,200 years old. Incidentally, Gerard is the younger sister of the first fairy king!
King's Sacred Treasure [Spirit Spear Chastiefol]

King's Sacred Treasure [Spirit Spear Chastiefol] is made from the sacred tree of the fairy world, and its hardness is said to exceed that of steel. King basically transforms his sacred treasure [Spirit Spear Chastiefol] into various forms to attack. By the way, according to Meliodas, King is so weak without Chastiefol that he would lose to a cat that had gotten a snack. In fact, King was very weak during the Fighting Festival when weapons could not be used. lol
What else is there besides Chastiefol? King's magic!

King's magic is like that of a fairy king. [Disaster] Can intensify wounds, turn poison into deadly poison, and condense the moisture in plants into iron balls. Using this magic, Chastiefol's power can be maximized! By the way, when he fought Hauser without a weapon, he used [Dancing Fairy], but it only made King jump up, and I had no idea what kind of magic it was. Lol. It's part of King's charm to have such cute points!
Unrequited love for Diane? King, the fairy king in love.

King was in love with Diane, a member of the Seven Deadly Sins. But Diane liked Meliodas, so King's love was unrequited. It's so cute and pure to see King trying his best to appeal to Diane and sometimes even supporting her unrequited love! In fact, King's unrequited love has been going on for a long time before the Seven Deadly Sins were formed.
A promise from 200 years ago! King and Diane's past.

700 years before the Seven Deadly Sins were formed. King, who had been seriously injured in the river and had lost his memory, was saved by Diane. The two spent 500 years together after that, and grew to love each other. Diane asks King, "Will you always love me?" Of course, King promises that he will always love her, and keeps that promise. This makes her quite popular! It's no wonder he came in first in the popularity poll.
Meanwhile, King erased Diane's memory before he was sentenced to 1000 years in prison for "turning a blind eye to the mass murder of humans by a single fairy, despite being the fairy king," so she has forgotten about King and her feelings for him. Even though he wanted to make sure Diane didn't have to suffer, it must have been very painful for her to be forgotten when they were reunited.

Diane is seriously injured and near death when she enters the royal capital to rescue Elizabeth. Just as Helbram is about to deliver the final blow to Diane, King appears in front of her and stops him. Crying, King continues to punch Hauser's armor with his bare hands, and as he gets bloody, he says, "I couldn't protect Diane at all!" This scene painfully conveys his regret for not being able to protect Diane.
King throws himself into the fight. He will protect Diane at all costs!

After that, King fights his best friend Helbram. When Diane is about to be attacked, he protects her well, but somehow it seemed like King wasn't getting serious. The reason for this is that King's spirit spear Chastiefol's eighth form, the Flower Garden, has the effect of protecting allies and slightly healing injuries, and he was using all of his magical power to protect Diane. It's wonderful to have someone you care about more than yourself!
Did they actually like each other? King and Diane now.

Diane sees King protecting her with his life and regains her lost memories. All of the 500 years she spent with King and her feelings for him. After that, Diane forgets about King again due to Gowther, but when she overcomes the trial given to her by Drole, she regains her memories and tells King her feelings. Thus, King's long unrequited love became reciprocated. Knowing King, he will probably continue to love and protect Diane.
He's also charming because he cries a lot! King is a kind and cute crybaby.

16 years ago, when the Seven Deadly Sins were active as the Knights of Liones, King would follow Ban around to clean up his messes. When Ban got obsessed with collecting stuffed toys and stole all the stuffed toys in the kingdom, King cried his eyes out thinking about the children whose precious stuffed toys had been stolen. After that, King traveled around the kingdom every night to return the stuffed toys to their owners. He must be very sensitive to cry over the children!
He's manly and cool! That's the charm of King.

When the Ten Commandments are resurrected and the demon Albion attacks the fairy forest, King is told by Gerard, the assistant of the fairy king, and Helbram, who resides in his helmet, to run away because the enemy is too strong. However, he says he wants to protect everything - the fairy forest, his friends, Diane, Elaine's heart, and Ban - and tries to unleash the true power of the spiritual spear Chastiefol, which he has not yet succeeded in doing. Because Chastiefol's power is too great, King's claws are torn off and he bleeds, but he still succeeds in defeating the demon Albion. You can feel both King's strength and the strength of his heart.
He wants to protect everything that is important to him! King is a greedy king.

When King and Helbram were still living in the fairy world, they were talking about how great it is to be "number one." However, King doesn't really understand the feeling of being "number one." So Helbram says, "You have something that is irreplaceable and important to you, right? That's what it means to be number one!" But King still cherishes the fairy forest, the fairies, his only sister Elaine, and his best friend Helbram.
"I guess everything is the most important to me. I'm the king, after all! If I could protect everything that's important to me, wouldn't that be the best thing?" he declares. One of King's charms is that he can say things like this so honestly!
Even though he's a crybaby, he's super cute! Summary of King's charms

He's a crybaby, but he's manly when it counts! He's pure, he cares for his friends, he loves Diane, and there are so many other things to love about King! It's no wonder he came in first in the popularity poll. He's overcome the trials of defeating the Ten Commandments, and his fighting power has increased! I'm sure she'll get even stronger and more active in the future. And now that she and Diane have mutual feelings, I'm looking forward to some cute episodes!
