The Promised Neverland is a popular series currently being published in Weekly Shonen Jump. With a total circulation of over 5 million copies, it will be adapted into an anime series starting in January 2019. The story is set in the demon world, where humans and demons are separated into two worlds. The story follows a group of children who discover that they are farmed humans to be eaten by the demons. Phil is a 4-year-old boy who, like the main characters Emma and her friends, is being raised on GF Farm. He has a laid-back personality and seems to take good care of the younger children. He loves Emma, who plays with him, and he appears prominently in the opening scene of the story. He has a quick mind, and while his grades aren't as good as Don's at the beginning of the story, he seems to be improving rapidly. He has the number 34394 tattooed on his neck.

The story begins to move towards the escape. Emma was planning to escape with everyone, but she made a big decision: not taking anyone under the age of five with her. There's a scene where she discusses this with the reliable Phil. This scene is truly moving. Phil, a child prodigy, understands everything and tells her it's okay to leave them behind. Phil is so talented at his age. It was a truly amazing scene.
