"Silver Spoon" depicts the transformation of Hachiken, who was once immersed in studying due to his parents' oppression, after enrolling in agricultural high school. In "Silver Spoon," not only are his fellow farmhands a major presence, but the animals who live there also play a major role. This time, we've summarized the animals who helped Hachiken grow.

Marron, the Proud and Angry Horse

After Hachiken joined the riding club, his partner was Marron, a distinctive white and blonde horse. When Hachiken accidentally called Marron's face "ugly," Marron began to dislike him. However, by not giving up and interacting with Marron no matter how many times he was kicked, Hachiken gradually began to understand Marron's feelings. By spending a long time interacting with this Angry Horse, Hachiken learns the importance of understanding the personalities and feelings of animals.

During his summer vacation, Hachiken decides to work part-time at Aki's family farm. Despite making mistakes at unfamiliar tasks, he works hard. Through his part-time job, Hachiken's first encounter with cows begins. At Aki's farm, they have a policy of raising each of their few cows one by one, and treat them with care. In contrast, at her classmate Tamako's farm, they cull their large number of cows and easily dispose of any that are injured. However, both farms are financially viable and raise their cows with love, which shows that there are many different ways to raise cows.

There was a piglet who was less proactive than his siblings and was growing slowly due to not getting enough breast milk. Hachiken named the piglet Butadon and carefully raised him, hoping to raise him into a fine pig for meat. Although the shipment was decided from the beginning, the closer they got to each other, the more painful it became for Hachiken to have to say goodbye. It was very moving to see Hachiken cry and express his gratitude as he ate the pork bowl that had been turned into meat.

Another unforgettable friend is the puppy Hachiken found while picking up trash at school, nicknamed "Vice-Principal." The Vice-Principal was beloved by the Enozo students, and Tokiwa in particular treated him like a protégé, teaching him tricks. Through his assistant, Hachiken and his friends learn the importance of taking responsibility for the lives of others.
