The popular series "The Irregular at Magic High School" features many characters in the first and second anime seasons, as well as the movie. This time, we'll focus on the characters that have been adapted into the series, ranking them by their characteristics, magical abilities, and the impressive voice actors who voice them.
9th Place: Saijo Leonhardt
Saijo Leonhardt, commonly known as Leo, is a classmate of Tatsuya Shiba and a close friend. The CADs in his arms react to Leo's shouts, activating magic that primarily enhances his martial arts, such as hardening spells. In the second season of the anime, she trained at Erika Chiba's dojo and acquired a new weapon, the "Usuba Kagerou," which she used to great effect. Many fans are also excited about their inseparable friendship, even fighting with each other.
8th Place: Erika Chiba
Erika Chiba. Though short in stature, she possesses both impressive sword skills and fearless courage. She typically wields a retractable baton, and is known for her bold, subduing attacks. Additionally, his expression when holding a real sword, as seen frequently throughout the series, is sharp, and his masculinity in fighting to avenge Leo in Season 2 is admirable. As an aside, in the anime, there's also a glimpse of his bro-complex side, as he persistently dislikes his brother Shuji's fiancee, Discipline Committee Chairperson Watanabe Mari.
7th Place: Ichijo Masateru
Ichijo Masateru. A first-year student at "Third High School," unlike Tatsuya and the others, he's known as the Crimson Prince. His magic is the "Explosion" spell, passed down through the Ichijo family. His ability to vaporize liquid inside objects and cause explosions is a skill that rivals Tatsuya's, as demonstrated in the Nine Schools Competition. Of particular note, however, is the voice actor, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. His numerous voice roles, including that of Kirito in "Sword Art Online," make Ichijo Masateru's strength and coolness stand out even more.
6th Place: Watanabe Mari
Watanabe Mari. As the Disciplinary Committee Chairperson, she is arguably the person most responsible for getting Tatsuya to join the Student Council. She is so popular that her juniors call her "big sister," and she is one of the people who hates the tension between first- and second-year students. While there aren't many battle scenes in the anime, her unique ability is to manipulate air currents to inflict specific drugs on her opponents. She also excels in magical versatility, being able to simultaneously use three or more types of magic on the Battle Board during the Nine Schools Competition, and was the champion of the previous tournament.
5th Place: Kitayama Shizuku
Kitayama Shizuku. In fact, she ranked second only to Shiba Miyuki in the practical magic section of the entrance exam, and is a childhood friend and best friend of Mitsui Honoka. Although she's quiet and only speaks in short sentences, she's incredibly popular and beloved, earning a respectable fourth place in the official character rankings. In Season 2, she embarks on an exchange program at USNA, where she shows off a new, adorable side of herself, including a dress and a drunken phone call.
4th Place: Saegusa Mayumi
Saegusa Mayumi. Nicknamed the "Elfin Sniper" or "Fairy Princess" for her beauty and high level of ability, she is an expert in long-range precision shooting, and although it takes time to reload, her power and accuracy are so overwhelming that she is already among the best in the Saegusa family. There are many scenes in the story where she is alone with Shiba Tatsuya, and their close relationship makes it seem like this pairing might actually happen, which is also a highlight. Also, with her popularity coupled with the voice actress Hanazawa Kana, there are sure to be many who are far more on the student council president's side than Miyuki's.
3rd Place: Angie Sirius
Her real name is Angelina Kudou Shields, but her classmates call her Lina. She is a magician in the USNA special forces "STARS" and one of the 13 Apostles, working under the code name "Angie Sirius." She normally has blonde hair and blue eyes, but when she becomes "Angie Sirius," she uses the counter-magic "Parade" to disguise herself as long red hair and golden eyes. She's a heroine on par with Miyuki, who appeared in Season 2, and many fans are captivated by her usual lazy, pajama-loving, and spoiled personality.
2nd Place: Shiba Miyuki
Shiba Miyuki. Tatsuya Shiba's younger sister, needless to say, is an impeccable heroine. While she's perceived by those around her as a serious bro-con, her abilities rival even those of her powerful older brother. He specializes in vibration-based magic, primarily cooling spells. He combines the mental-based magic of the Yotsuba family with the deadly "Cocytus" spell, which can induce eternal mental slumber. He'll want to avoid incurring Miyuki's wrath. He's also a candidate to become the next head of the Yotsuba family, and his relationship with Maya Yotsuba, who treats his brother coldly, gives off a somewhat hostile vibe.
1st Place: Tatsuya Shiba
Tatsuya Shiba. Although he is a second-year student, his abilities are a strategic-class magician known as Special Lieutenant Oguro Ryuya, and are kept secret from the country as the strongest magician. Although he has a bit of an "older brother" feel to him, his strength and the expression on his face when protecting Miyuki make it impossible to talk about "The Irregular at Magic High School" without him. The magic he can use is surprisingly simple, consisting of just two spells: "Disassembly" and "Reconstruction." However, he also possesses a number of truly invincible abilities, such as "Gram Demolition," which neutralizes enemy magic and "Elemental Search," which gives him complete control over surrounding enemies.
