Today, I'd like to introduce the characters that appear in "The Irregular at Magic High School." While there are many characters in "The Irregular at Magic High School," I'd like to focus on Tatsuya and Miyuki's classmates, who appear frequently.

Classmates of Class 1-E

First, I'd like to introduce the classmates of protagonist Tatsuya Shiba, Class 1-E. While they are second-year students at First High School, they are not inferior to the first-year students in terms of talent; in fact, they often appear to be even more accomplished than the first-year students in the story.

Leonhardt Saijo

Leo in his gi

Leonhardt Saijo. He could be called Tatsuya's partner. While his magic is a little unusual, the CAD on his left arm activates in response to Leo's voice, making him skilled in close combat, leveraging Leo's well-trained physique. During the Nine Schools Tournament, Tatsuya gave him a CAD with an extendable blade, allowing him to fight enemies at an even wider range. Although he often fights with Erika Chiba, he also looks up to her as his swordsmanship teacher, and he even mastered the special technique, "Usuba Kagero," under her instruction.

Erika Chiba

Erika with a baton

Erika Chiba. She usually carries a telescopic baton, but when she's serious, she wields a real sword and shows her true talent, showing no signs of holding back. The Chiba family is renowned for its swordsmanship, and Erika is particularly talented among them. Due to her family background, she seems to have connections with Mikihiko Yoshida and Mari Watanabe, the discipline committee chairman. In Season 2, she shows off her big sisterly side, going out to avenge Leo after he was attacked, and her secret sibling complex makes her one of the most fascinating characters.

Mizuki Shibata

Shibata Close-up

Mizuki Shibata (Mitsuki Shibata). Mizuki is a gentle, bespectacled girl, and her voice, voiced by Satomi Sato, is a perfect fit for the character. There's a good reason why she wears glasses: Mizuki suffers from "spiritual radiation hypersensitivity," which she uses to protect her eyes. Furthermore, although she herself is unaware of it, her eyes are special "crystal eyes," giving her the rare ability to distinguish the colors of spirits used in ancient magic. She's also gradually developing a good relationship with Yoshida Mikihiko, a master of ancient magic, making for a heartwarming pairing.

Yoshida Mikihiko

Yoshida Collecting Spirits

Yoshida Mikihiko (Yoshida Mikihiko). A childhood friend of Erika, he is the second son of the Yoshida family, a prestigious family of ancient magic. He is a skilled user of "Evocation Magic," so skilled that he was once called a child prodigy. He can summon spirits, attack, create barriers, and use a variety of other spells. An accident before enrolling reduced his magical powers, but thanks to the influence of Tatsuya, with whom he fought alongside in the Nine Schools Competition, he has become even more powerful than when he was a child prodigy, combining CAD with ancient magic and strengthening his mental abilities. By his second year, he was officially a first-year student.

Classmates of Class 1-A

Next, I'd like to introduce the members of Class 1-A, Miyuki Shiba's class. Since Miyuki usually comes to Tatsuya's place to hang out, she doesn't get many opportunities to appear in the film, but I'll give a brief introduction today.

Honoka Mitsui

Honoka leaning on Tatsuya

Honoka Mitsui (Mitsui Honoka). She's a childhood friend of Shizuku Kitayama, and they're best friends who compete with each other in magical powers. Normally, she's kind and gentle, and doesn't like conflict, but when it comes to Tatsuya, she can't contain her affection and gets into trouble. She's a charming young woman. In Season 2, she demonstrated her ability to stun opponents with the Mitsui family's signature light-wave vibration magic. However, due to her heritage in the element of light, she also suffered the misfortune of having a mechanical pixie become Honoka's alter-ego and subordinate to her. She is also Tatsuya's love rival, and despite being friends with Miyuki, she also shares a burning rivalry with him.

Shizuku Kitayama

Close-up of Shizuku's face

Shizuku Kitayama. While she may not talk much, she ranked second among first-year students in practical magic, behind Miyuki. During the Nine Schools Competition, she used highly difficult techniques such as "Active Air Mine," which utilize her specialty in vibration magic. He also highly values Tatsuya's skills as an engineer, even requesting that Tatsuya work exclusively for the Kitayama family. As his family owns a large corporation, the Kitayama family actually has the authority to request helicopters and access VIP conference rooms during the Yokohama Riots Arc. In the spin-off series, "The Irregular at Magic High School," he plays a regular role alongside Honoka.

Shun Morisaki

Morisaki confronts Tatsuya

Shun Morisaki. He's the one who confronts Tatsuya in the first episode of the first season of the anime. Although she hasn't made any notable achievements since then, she is skilled in the CAD technique known as "Quick Draw," and is said to be the best first-year student at shortening the time it takes to cast spells. She believes there's an absolute divide between first- and second-year students, and her contempt for the "weeds" of the second-year students was striking.

Angie Sirius

Rina in Uniform

Her real name is Angelina Kudou Sirius. In a spinoff, she became classmates with Miyuki and the others in the second season as an exchange student with Shizuku. As his name "Kudou" suggests, his uncle is Retsu Kudo, and he is actually connected to the Ten Master Clans. His magical abilities rival those of Miyuki, and he is also known as "Angie Sirius," the strongest magician in the USNA Stars. In the movie, he uses his strategic-level spell, "Heavy Metal Burst," which is said to be more powerful than Tatsuya's "Material Burst."

Summary

Group Picture

So, what did you think? This time, we've introduced Tatsuya and Miyuki's classmates. Introducing them like this, there are many different types of magicians, and each one has their own scene where they shine. The lack of mob characters may be one of the charms of "Mahouka." It'll be exciting to see how their relationships change and how they learn new techniques.
