He is an assassin, but must never kill, and must remain as inconspicuous as possible while struggling with the instructions to live a normal life, but trouble comes his way. It's super easy as an assassin, but it's not so easy as an ordinary person. We've put together a relationship diagram for this comedy about the underworld.

The Fable Character Relationship Chart

Relationship Chart

The Fable begins with two members of a certain assassin organization who must live as ordinary people. They have killed 71 targets in six years and have the nickname of Fable (Fable), which sounds like an urban legend, but they should not be so conspicuous that they should have such a nickname. Therefore, they had to live as ordinary people for a year without killing anyone. Thus, the two live in a residence provided by the Makuro-gumi, a yakuza group that is an acquaintance of the boss, and live a normal life by working and interacting with others at their part-time job at Octopus Co., Ltd.

About the Fable, the mysterious organization that undertakes assassinations

organization

In the story, it is called Fable, but it is actually an organization without a name. It is an organization that mainly makes a living by killing people, but only the boss knows everything about the organizational system, and even Akira and Yoko do not know the full picture. Perhaps the changing times have created risks in making assassinations a profession, and the number of clients seems to have decreased significantly compared to the past. The assassins in the organization seem to be basically in pairs, and are divided into two roles: assassin and support.

The Boss

A mysterious figure who is the foster parent of Akira and Yoko and who oversees the organization. He gave them the pseudonyms Akira Sato and Yoko Sato and ordered them to live as ordinary people for a year, but also said that he would kill them if they tried to kill anyone. He uses mysterious technology to keep track of the status of the members of the organization. Officially, he runs an osteopathic clinic in Saitama Prefecture. He occasionally interviews assassins he has scouted, but if he thinks they are useless, he has a ruthless personality and will kill them immediately.

Akira Sato (pseudonym)/The Fable

The protagonist of this work, the strongest assassin, nicknamed the Fable. Although he has killed 71 targets in six years, the boss, concerned that he has been too conspicuous, tells him to live as an ordinary person for a year. He is a powerful assassin who ends most fights in less than six seconds, based on the lesson that he can defeat any opponent within six seconds. Her talent is said to be close to Savant syndrome, and she is ignorant of common sense other than the art of killing, and has a few skewed sensibilities, but she enjoys living a normal life.

Yoko Sato (pseudonym)

Akira's partner, a woman with the ability of instantaneous memory. She lives as an ordinary person for a year, with the setting that she is Akira's brother and sister, but while she is enthusiastic about finding a handsome boyfriend, she spends her days soaking in alcohol. She is an extremely heavy drinker, and has a bad habit of using honey trap-like acting to hook men, getting them drunk until they pass out from alcohol, and enjoying watching them.

The Makuro Group, a small gang whose territory is in Taihei City

Makuro Group

A gang whose territory is in Taihei City, Osaka Prefecture, and its boss is the fourth generation, Hiroshi Hamada. Although the number of members is small, they have been able to get by without belonging to a wide-area organization because they had connections with other organizations. It seems that the internal situation has changed significantly due to many executives being arrested or having their balls taken in past conflicts.

Makuro Group Boss "Hiroshi Hamada"

The fourth generation boss who took over the title of boss two years ago. He is supposed to be a relative of Akira and Yoko. He has a calm personality, and calls on his subordinates to refrain from extreme actions such as killing as times change. He enjoys alcohol and meat almost every day, and has two mistresses.

Maguro-gumi Wakagashira "Ebiwara Takeshi"

He is a militant yakuza with five criminal convictions and a rough personality, but he does not lay hands on ordinary people and avoids people who enjoy killing. At first, he thinks Akira is a serial killer and tries to eliminate him by force, but he recognizes that Akira is a person who does not kill needlessly, and they reconcile. After that, he begins to trust Akira and the others.

Kojima

A man who served 15 years in prison for killing an ordinary woman 15 years ago. A rough yakuza with an old-fashioned temperament, he looks up to Ebiwara as his older brother. However, he harbors a violent nature that could even be said to be outdated, and begins to go on a rampage when Ebiwara collapses and is hospitalized. Immediately after being released from prison, he gets a gun, and he chases the man who is entrusted by Sunagawa, a senior member, with running a delivery health business, and tries to get Misaki to work at a delivery health business using yakuza tactics.

Takahashi

A particularly young man among the gang, and one who stands out as unreliable. He is ordered to watch over the Sato siblings as Ebiwara's driver, but he incites thugs against the Sato siblings without permission, and is played with by Yoko. After Ebiwara is hospitalized, he is forced to participate in Kojima's plan.

Kuroshio

AKA Kuro. After he learns that Akira is the Fable, he admires Akira and Yoko's strength, and breaks his leg while imitating Akira, and accompanies Akira on his mountain retreat. Although he has a slightly absent-minded personality, he has earned a certain amount of trust from Ebiwara and Akira. He is the most soothing character in the series.

Sunagawa

He is the group's top earner and the next Wakagashira. He has an extreme personality, and plans to kill Kojima who has interfered with his business, and shows signs of being dissatisfied with the leniency of boss Hamada. Later, in order to take over the group, he plots to assassinate the boss and starts an internal conflict.

Jack of all trades employed by Sunagawa, he also does murder

Hitman

Hood (pseudonym)

Jack of all trades employed by Sunagawa. He is a man who undertakes assassinations and wanted to defeat the Fable someday, but the Fable himself did not even notice him and did not pay him any attention even when he fought him directly.

Code (pseudonym)

A muscular man who is the Hood's partner. He is a Hood's negotiator and can hear the mosquito sound that only people in their 20s can hear, but he does not look like he is in his 20s. The fight with the Fable was not even a fight.

Design company Octopus Co., Ltd.

Octopus

Akira's part-time job, which he was introduced to by Misaki. He designs advertisements, business cards, and image characters. The office is a room in an apartment building, and the office is quite cramped, so the hourly wage for delivery part-timers is 800 yen. Although it is below the minimum wage, the pay will be increased if the quality of the work is high. There are four staff members including Akira.

Takada

The president of Octopus, a caring middle-aged man. He is a busybody, but at heart he is very kind and a bit of a humorous old man. He is one of the best characters in this work, where scary older men fight each other. Misaki is subjected to violence as harassment by the yakuza in order to corner her, and a staff member dies, so she is trampled and kicked. After the staff member's death, she makes a fresh start and moves her office to a detached office.

Shimizu Misaki

A woman who becomes Akira's colleague at Octopus. When Akira gets involved in a fight and loses on purpose, she calls out to him and introduces him to a part-time job. In an unfortunate situation, Akira works multiple part-time jobs to pay off his father's debts, and is even forced to work as a call girl after being noticed by a scary guy.

Etsushi Kainuma

A gloomy young man who is a staff member at Octopus. He is actually a stalker of Misaki and commits crimes such as trespassing and voyeurism. He thinks he has a perfect plan and executes it, such as installing surveillance cameras and taking voyeur photos, but in reality he is sloppy and Akira sees through his stalking in an instant. He was raised in an overprotective environment and has a personality that blames others for everything, which later leads to divine punishment.

【The Fable】Relationship Chart Summary

I have compiled a relationship chart for The Fable. The main character Akira is given the order to live peacefully as an ordinary person, but the people around him are not easy to deal with, or rather, they are all non-legitimate, so his peaceful life is threatened. The story is about the gruesome underworld, but the contrast between the protagonist and the protagonist having to become a peaceful ordinary person is interesting! It has been made into a live-action movie, and a second one has been confirmed! It's a work that will be of interest in the future!
