If you're looking to get your heart pumping right now, I highly recommend the manga "Teasing Master Takagi-san"! It has been serialized since 2013, and the long-awaited second anime season is coming in July 2019. Here, we will introduce a recap of the first season in preparation for the second season. Please read it before watching the second season.
Recap of the first anime season: Characters
Takagi-san
This is Takagi-san, whose name is also in the title. She's an incredibly cute, beautiful girl. She has chestnut-colored hair that is parted in the center and reaches down to her waist, and she has wide eyes and a cute expression. And Takagi-san, who is somewhere between a typical middle school child and an adult, is a little devil, and she is so charming that you will fall in love with her. Takagi-san is intelligent and beautiful, and is always calm. Her daily routine is to tease Nishikata, who sits next to her. Of course, it is an expression of affection, but her devilishness knocks everyone out!
Nishikata
This is the main character, Nishikata. Like Takagi-san, only his last name is made public, and he is a boy who sits by the window in Class 1-2. He is a cute boy who shows this embarrassed face many times, and Takagi-san is always asking him questions, and he is plotting to get revenge on him someday. His feelings are very easily shown on his face, and it is so easy to understand that you can see through his head. He is honest and kind, and is the exact expression of a middle school student who has not yet become an adult (lol). He denies that he has feelings for Takagi-san because he is teased (lol)
Mina Yukari Sanae
They are a trio of close friends from the same class. They also served as the protagonists of the author Yamamoto Soichiro's "Tomorrow is Saturday". From the left, we have Yukari Amakawa, the class representative, Mina Hibino, the angel in the middle, and Sanae Tsukimoto, the laid-back girl on the right. There is a story for the three of them, and since they all have completely different personalities, their interactions are incredibly interesting! Mina is the one who is usually the one causing trouble, Yukari is the one who stops her, and Sanae often goes along with Mina.
Tanabe Sensei
This is Mr. Tanabe, the homeroom teacher and English teacher. He has a tough face, so I thought he was a PE teacher, but he's actually quite global (lol). He's a Showa-style teacher who always throws chalk at Nishikata, who responds by yelling whenever Takagi teases him. Another characteristic is that they always wear tracksuits.
Nakai and Mano
Nakai and Mano are in the same class. Nakai is good friends with Nishikata, and Mano is good friends with Takagi. And the two of them are dating. Mano always seems to be troubled by Nakai's carefree attitude. She thinks Takagi and Nishikata are dating, so she always leaves right away. Takagi calls their relationship "youth." Takagi and Nishikata's are a little different, but it's youth, isn't it?
Story recap of the first season of the anime
Manga
The manga has been animated up to volume 6. The TV series was up to volume 5, but if you include the OVA, it's up to volume 6. There are some parts of the story that haven't been animated, so I hope they'll pick up those parts in the second season! In the first season, you'll be able to watch from the two's meeting to Takagi's merciless teasing without getting bored.
Heart-pounding
Takagi-san is so devilish I could die (lol) Nishikata was scolded by the teacher and went to bed, but when he saw Takagi-san, this is what he saw. He would definitely fall in love with her, right? And above all, she's a beautiful girl, so that's an added bonus. Nishikata's reaction and Takagi-san's cute teasing are so cute that I can't stop grinning! The way she teases Nishikata, showing that she likes him, is so cute. This goes on and on, so it's addictive like a shoujo manga.
Review of the first season of the anime: The best of Takagi-san the teaser
From here on, we will introduce Takagi-san's teasing! We will introduce the ones that were particularly cute.
Erotic
This is a scene from a game where the winner is the one who can do a back flip on the horizontal bar. They compete in a backflip competition on a bar that is higher than them, but Takagi, who is wearing a skirt, says, "Don't look when I'm doing a backflip. If you look, Nishikata will lose," and Nishikata is good at not looking (lol). Curious to see if she is really doing a backflip, he ends up looking, but to his surprise, Takagi is wearing shorts. Nishikata honestly admits that he saw her, and loses, and this is what she says to him. I can't get enough of her smug look (lol). He's been teased again!
You got caught!
It's a classic, but Nishikata is somehow happy even when he falls for it (lol). Takagi's childish side, who always falls for it, is also cute. And after this, he tricks her many times, but Nishikata who can't avoid it is also the best. It's always like that, but maybe the fact that Takagi-san is so nonchalant after teasing him is the reason he feels awkward (lol)
Sharing an Umbrella
Takagi-san's eyes in the last frame! (lol) You can see Nishikata's reaction perfectly! I'm also touched by Nishikata, who casually holds the umbrella closer to Takagi-san, but my heart can't take Takagi-san teasing him ten times more. After this, Takagi-san teases him even more by saying, "What do you call holding an umbrella like this?" and it's so cute! Nishikata is so cute that he can't answer it easily, and it makes me swoon. Sharing an umbrella is very embarrassing these days.
Ghosts
I won't go in! (laughs) Nishikata, a middle school student, seems to hate ghosts. Takagi-san is amazing at picking up on that, but he always comes up with stories like this (laughs). Nishikata, who is properly scared, and Takagi, who asks Nishikata after the story and leaves the choice to him by asking "Aren't you going in?" are both the best. This gentle teasing makes me smile.
Indirect kiss
The first person to say "It's an indirect kiss" wins! That's Takagi-san for you. Once he says that, I can't drink anymore because I'm too conscious of it. Four panels ago, I was wary of Takagi-san's plan, but by the end, I got what he wanted (lol) They're both too cute! Takagi-san must have been aware of what he said, but it's amazing that a middle school student can keep such a poker face (lol)
Comparing heights
This is what it means to be speechless. Who would have thought that a simple height comparison would turn out like this!? (lol) Teasing Master Takagi-san is a romantic comedy that will have you grinning every five seconds! Takagi-san's appeal in the form of teasing is cute.
Review of the first season of the anime: The best scene
I wanted to go home
This is probably the most thrilling scene in the first season. Nishikata, who is honest and expresses his feelings without thinking too much in a good way, hits Takagi cleanly here. Nishikata and Takagi always go home together, but Nishikata is invited to go home by another male friend. However, Nishikata refuses and goes home with Takagi as usual.
Keeping a cool head is hard
Takagi-san freezes at the words she said without thinking, but then sees off Nishikata, who denies that there was any deeper meaning to them. Then, she takes a deep breath. It goes without saying that all the readers shouted "cute!" when they saw Takagi-san's embarrassed face for the first time! It was a story that left me with a lingering impression.
Anime Season 1 Review Theme Song
Ohara Yuiko
"I won't say it though" written by Ohara Yuiko was the ending song for Season 1. Of course, Ohara Yuiko will also be in charge of Season 2. The lyrics seem to express Takagi's feelings, and Ohara's cute and clear voice is a perfect match. "It's okay if you misunderstand me. I won't tell you that I thought that with you" is exactly what Takagi's devilish feeling is, isn't it? Please listen to the full version.
Takagi-san's vocals
And the opening song is sung by none other than Takagi-san! Takagi-san sings various famous love songs in a cute way. As expected, when Takagi-san sings, you can't help but imagine all sorts of things. As expected, the first song she sang, Ikimonogakari's "Kimagure Romantic", was very Takagi-san-like and very cute. I'm looking forward to seeing her sing that part again in the second season.
