"Surgeon Elise" is a novel that was distributed on the Korean webcomic distribution site "Kakao Page." A comic book version was later released, and it was also serialized in Japan on Piccoma. It features a high fantasy worldview and the theme of reincarnation in another world, and tells the story of the protagonist restarting her life as a doctor in order to atone for past mistakes. It is attracting attention as an anime adaptation will be broadcast in January next year. In this article, we would like to introduce the production staff and voice cast of this work! Some of you may already know them!
Kumiko Habara (Director)
Kumiko Habara served as director of "We Stand on a Million Lives" and storyboard artist for "In Another World with My Smartphone." While she typically works on storyboarding and directing, she has recently been increasingly taking on directing roles. Habara commented on her impressions of reading the original "Surgeon Elise" manga on the official website:
My first impression of the manga was that it was a "sparkly, other-worldly story for women," but as I continued reading, I was surprised to find that it was a "medical story backed by thorough historical research."
That's a very interesting comment. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's adapted into an anime!
Akao Deko (Series Composition)
Akao Deko also works as a singer, lyricist, and radio personality under the name "Hitomi Mieno." She also uses the alias "Akao Deko" when working as a screenwriter and television writer. It's been said that the name comes from her "red forehead," but Akao herself has denied this on radio. As a singer, she shares many similarities with idol voice actors, and is often recognized as a voice actress. By the way, she has also appeared in anime and games as a voice actress, so we may see more of that in the future.
Yui Ishikawa (Elise de Clorence)
Yui Ishikawa has played key characters in popular works that have become social phenomena, such as Mikasa in "Attack on Titan" and the protagonist in "Violet Evergarden." "Attack on Titan" in particular was the catalyst that instantly raised Ishikawa's profile. She joined a theater troupe as a child actor at the age of six, and her first voice acting role was in 2007. She now plays key roles, including the protagonist, in a variety of productions.
Yohei Azagami (Linden de Romanoff)
This is Yohei Azagami. He originally went by the name Yohei Hosono, but changed his name to Yohei Azagami. "Azagami" is a rare surname, and is apparently common in Yamaguchi Prefecture. He is best known for his role as Güell Jeták in "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury." He has also appeared in other games, including the "Samurai Warriors" series and "Ensemble Stars!", and is expanding his horizons.
Yoshimasa Hosoya (Graham de Fallon)
Yoshimasa Hosoya had a very hard time during his early career, even having his home's water and electricity cut off and having to borrow a friend's bathtub. He began his career as a voice actor in 2005 and began playing many major characters around 2010. He often plays characters who speak in dialects, including Osaka, Fukui, Sasebo, and Akita. Incidentally, Hosoya himself is originally from Hiroshima Prefecture, and in "A Town Where You Live" and "In This Corner of the World," he shows off his fluent Hiroshima dialect.
Summary of Production Staff and Voice Actors
How many of the production staff and voice actors introduced this time were you familiar with? Watching anime while thinking about the staff and cast is one of the joys of it all. While the official website has only announced the voice actors for three characters, we're sure new cast members will be announced soon, so we're looking forward to that! That's all for today. Thank you for reading.
