The number of people who are attracted to the cute characters and interesting story is rapidly increasing. But what exactly is the story of Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle? This article will introduce spoilers for Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle. Be sure to check it out before the anime adaptation.
Spoiler: What exactly is the story of Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle?
The popular manga "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle" is a short comedy about a captive princess who uses every trick in the book to get a good night's sleep! The original manga is basically a one-shot story, so you can read it quickly. In an era when humans and demons coexisted, power was divided into two. Meanwhile, the demon king was trying to take all the power in the world by kidnapping a human princess. Of course, the people were angry, and the hero set out on a journey to save the princess, but... the princess herself was surprisingly living a leisurely and comfortable life in the castle where she was imprisoned. Since there is nothing to do in the cage except sleep, she wanders around the Demon King's castle in search of a good night's sleep.
Spoiler Introduction Part 1: Prioritizing sleep over escape?
Princess Suyaris, the main character, has nothing to do but sleep. However, when she first came to the castle, she was sleep-deprived, so she began to think that maybe her bedding was bad. So the princess tried to make a pillow herself. However, since she was a prisoner, she had no freedom, and it was not easy to find materials to make a pillow. However, there she met a low-ranking monster called "Devil Demon", who is a mascot character of this story and is found in abundance in the castle. By brushing them, Princess Suyaris was able to obtain the excellent material of cotton (body hair). And in exchange for the brushing, she obtained the key to the cell. After successfully escaping, the princess obtained materials from various demons and made a pillow that would give her a good night's sleep.
Greedy for a good night's sleep!
She is quite greedy for a good night's sleep. Not satisfied with just making a good pillow, she began to wander around the Demon King's castle looking for a comfortable environment to sleep in. From there, the monsters began to get involved with the overly free princess.
Spoiler introduction #2: She keeps making bedding!?
The princess successfully used the fur of the devil to create a pillow that would help her sleep soundly. She also dyed the curtains with herbs, and sewed them (without permission) by removing the fur of a thorn-eating dwarf. She also carried around large scissors to hunt for fabric, and wandered about recklessly. She cuts the "ghost furoshiki," a cloth demon, to make fabric to make sheets, and uses the horn of the demon's head as a file (!), and other dangerous actions stand out. By the way, the ghost furoshiki is a living demon, so it can also be expected to have skin-beautifying effects and help you sleep soundly. It seems to be quite suitable as a material for sheets, and the monsters are always being manipulated like this.
Spoiler Introduction 3: The Demon King's Army falls head over heels in love with the princess! ?
Princess Suyaris wanders around the Demon King's castle in search of a good night's sleep. She sometimes becomes so obsessed that she ends up doing dangerous things. And she ends up dying every day! Sometimes she dies multiple times a day. However, there is no point in being a hostage if she dies, so the Demon King's Army revives the princess every time she dies. At first, the evil group only gives the impression that they are a handful towards the princess, but as they talk to her, they gradually become attracted to her. It's interesting that their actions escalate to the point that they become a bit like stalkers.
A love triangle is born!
But the evil group also has a strong rival (?). That is the demon king Tasogare, the master of the demon castle who brought the princess to the castle. Tasogare had been trying to take all the power that was divided between humans and demons for himself, but recently he has changed his mind and wants to eliminate conflict and coexist peacefully with each other. Princess Suyaris agrees with this, and a bond grows between the two. Somehow, something like love begins to grow (of course, neither of them is aware of it), and a delicate love triangle develops.
Spoiler introduction No. 4: The hero comes to rescue the princess! However...
Although she lives so freely, Princess Suyaris is still a prisoner. Humanity has sent a hero to the Demon King's castle. That hero is "Hero Akatsuki." He is the princess's fiance! However, the princess hates him, to the point that she doesn't remember his name no matter how many times he says it... He is quite insensitive and positive in personality, and is a very strong character. He goes to rescue the princess, but the princess doesn't want to be rescued because she hates him, which is also cute. Although he is a hostage, he does not want to meet the hero who came to rescue him, so he returns to the castle to get something he forgot, accompanied by the Demon King and executives (!).
The princess's lack of a sense of danger is interesting! ?
The princess's attitude, which is unlike that of a hostage, is the most attractive part of this work. When the princess's mother comes to the Demon King's castle, she says to the Demon King, "Please take care of the princess," and it is interesting that she has no sense of danger at all. However, in reality, it is the princess herself who manipulates those around her the most, and all the demons are attached to the princess, so now the princess is an indispensable and important presence in the Demon King's castle. No one will hurt her.
Spoiler introduction No. 5: It's easy to laugh at and fun! The characters are cute too
The characters in "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle" are cute, and it's a very funny, laid-back gag manga. The characters are charming, and in addition to the cute Princess Suyaris, there are also mascot-like monsters such as the Devil Bear and the Eggplant Seal. The story has a great tempo, and you'll definitely burst out laughing when you watch it. Another interesting point is that it's very peaceful even though it's inside the Demon Castle. After all, the Demon King, the master of the castle, is very kind, and what he cares about most, rather than fighting, is the "battle balance" and "flag management" in this world. He makes it so that the hero Akatsuki can't easily get to him. It's also interesting that the Demon King is in a pretty pitiful position!
Spoiler Introduction #6 Doraemon Appears!?
The episode in which Doraemon appears, which was much talked about, is also a must-see. In fact, this was a big project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of "Doraemon", and Doraemon hijacked the covers of 50 magazines. He also appeared in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" without exception, but Sunday did not only have Doraemon on the cover, but also had him secretly appear somewhere in the 18 manga works that were being serialized at the time! This kind of project was also done in Weekly Shonen Jump's "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo". In some serialized works, Doraemon was hiding in some pretty difficult places. And in the case of this work, "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle"...
They appeared boldly through the Anywhere Door
Doraemon and Nobita appeared boldly through the Anywhere Door, so bold that you would think, "Is this even possible!?" The project was supposed to be "Let's find them because they're hiding!", but they appeared boldly in the main story. This panel became a hot topic on the Internet and was one of the reasons why "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle" became famous. The subtle mismatch of the illustrations is indescribably surreal and interesting. By the way, Princess Suyaris demonstrated her reliability by stealing Doraemon's pocket (!). I don't know how this bold episode will turn out in the anime, but it's very interesting that she appears boldly in the magazine as a collaboration.
【Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle】Spoiler Introduction Summary!
That's all for the spoiler introduction summary of "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle"! What did you think? The free-spirited attitude of the princess, who doesn't seem like a hostage, is very interesting, and it's no wonder that so many people are hooked. It's also wonderful that the monsters, while being bossed around by the princess, gradually grow attached to her. Both the comedy parts and the heartwarming romance parts are very interesting, and it's a work that is sure to heal you when you watch it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it will be portrayed when it is made into an anime!
