The highly popular anime series "Re:ZERO − Starting Life in Another World" is scheduled for a second season starting in April 2020. This time, we'll be introducing a strength ranking, including the author's opinion. Beware of spoilers!
Strength Ranking #10: Roswaal L. Mathers
Let's get started! Starting off at #10 is Roswaal L. Mathers. He's known for his distinctive way of speaking and clown-like appearance. He didn't appear much in the first season of the anime, but he's actually quite strong!
He is the owner of Roswaal Mansion and the number one magician in the country. His true identity is shrouded in mystery, with many speculating that he may be the mastermind behind everything. He is blessed with the blessing of magic, and is said to be able to attack and defend against all kinds of magic. However, he cannot cast healing magic, so despite his strength, he is ranked 10th!
Strength Ranking: 9th Place: Emilia (Awakened Version)
Next up in 9th place is the series' heroine, Emilia! However, this is a spoiler: due to a past trauma, Emilia unconsciously controlled her mana usage. By facing and accepting her past, however, she was able to maximize her mana usage.
This awakened Emilia comes in at 9th place. Having lived in the deep forest with Puck for hundreds of years, she tends to be quite unaware of the state of affairs and common sense of the world. And even Emilia's quirky, outdated Showa-era slang sounds super cute! I think we'll get to see Emilia's past and true powers in Season 2! Stay tuned!
Strength Ranking #8: Semekht
Next up is Sekhmet, the Witch of Sloth. Blessed by Sloth, Sekhmet is generally pacifist and gentle. However, when she unleashes her true power, she has the ability to instantly defeat all the Witches of Sin (excluding Satella) attacking her at once. It is said that she used this power to drive a dragon into a great waterfall and bury it in order to bring peace to the world during her lifetime.
However, she died shortly after, and now her soul was collected by Echidna, the Witch of Greed, and she exists only in Echidna's spiritual world. It is there that she meets Subaru. Although her abilities are impressive, her basic personality is lazy rather than aggressive, and she lacks the ability to heal, which is why she is ranked 8th.
Strength Ranking #7: Regulus Corneas
In seventh place is Regulus Corneas, the Witch's Cult's Archbishop of Greed! While he doesn't actively participate in the battles himself, he is well-known in the world, second only to Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti. His blessing, the Heart of the Lion, allows him to stop time on anything he touches or on his own.
To put it bluntly, stopping a heart is easy. And his other blessing is the Little King. This allows him to parasitize anyone he has chosen to possess without them realizing it. When using Lion's Heart, time stops for him as well, meaning his heart stops as well. You could say this is an ability that allows him to circumvent that.
His ability is said to be the strongest in the series, but his personality is the problem (lol). Despite all his abilities, if he is mocked or provoked, he will raise the killer's ranking and attack without regard for the consequences. This plays right into his opponent's hands. Even though his ability is the strongest, he is easy to handle, so he is ranked 7th.
Strength Ranking #6: Raid
And in sixth place is Raid Astrea! His appearance hasn't been revealed yet, so this image is of Reinhard van Astrea. He was one of the people who sealed away Satella, the most vicious and calamitous witch who existed approximately 400 years ago, and is the first master of the Sword Saint.
He had a bullying personality, and was apparently such a dangerous guy that there is a proverb describing a weirdo: "Sword Saint Reid draws his sword in front of a dragon and laughs." However, he is a hard worker who trained daily to become a Sword Saint. He was quite a strong man, but it is also true that in the 400 years since his death, there have been even more strong people. He is a hero, but he comes in 6th place!
Strength Ranking #5: Puck (Serious Ver.)
In fifth place is the Great Spirit Puck, Serious Ver.! Normally a cute, mascot-like figure, Puck's contract with Emilia transforms him into the Beast of the End whenever Emilia's life is in danger or is in a life-threatening situation. It seems that this contract turns him into a being capable of destroying the world.
In this state, Puck can instantly defeat the White Whale, which Subaru and his friends struggled against. Furthermore, when he transforms into the Beast of the End, he brings about abnormal weather, summoning a blizzard so strong it can shatter his body, allowing him to be killed without even getting close. However, in this state, he goes out of control and can become difficult to control, which is why he ranks fifth.
Strength Ranking #4: Ram (Horned Ver.)
In fourth place is Ram's horned version! Although she no longer has horns and can no longer use her original abilities, when she still had them she was almost stronger than demons with two horns. Although she is now inferior to her sister Rem in terms of skill and power, she originally possessed some of the most powerful demons, both among them and in the story.
She can still use wind-element magic and clairvoyance, which only Rem can use as a demon. She also retains her ability to cut magical beasts in half and her natural insight. The author has even gone so far as to say that if she still had horns she would be in the top five in the story!
Strength Ranking #3: Volcanica
In third place is the Shenron Volcanica, whose existence still lives on! Along with Reid Astrea, he was one of the key players in sealing away Satella, the Witch of Envy. He still lives on thanks to Echidna, as a guarantee to prevent Satella's resurrection.
He's quite powerful, but he's also a character who gets toyed with (lol). His next appearance will likely be towards the end of the series, but I'd love to see him! By the way, according to the creator, she's like King Ghidorah. We're looking forward to seeing her!
Strength Ranking #2: Satera
Second place goes to Satera, the well-known Witch of Envy. Honestly, I had a really hard time deciding between fifth and second place. I'd say they're pretty evenly matched, but considering her sheer size and the mysterious abilities she still has to reveal, I decided to give her second place! Approximately 400 years ago, she murdered six witches and destroyed half of the world. She's known by the world as the most evil witch, a plague-inducing one.
However, she wasn't the kind of person people would say she was; she was actually a good person, and the other witches she murdered don't seem to resent her. There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding her! Her relationship with Subaru is also quite intriguing, and her abilities are still a mystery!
Strength Ranking #1: Reinhard van Astrea
And in first place is Reinhard van Astrea! This is unshakable! The author even boasts that even the top five blessings combined could not be fulfilled! First of all, there are so many blessings. It's impossible to list all the detailed blessings, but the amount is enormous. And most powerful of all, he can receive blessings simply by wishing. The blessings he currently possesses were not something he was born with, but rather something Reinhard has wished for and received at each stage.
This alone is powerful, but when Reinhard gets serious, all the mana in the air focuses solely on him, and micro-spirits flock to him, unleashing healing abilities and preventing him from even being hurt. He can't use magic, but honestly, it's an unnecessary skill. It makes all the characters we've introduced so far pale in comparison! (lol)
And what's more, he even has a well-developed personality. He's a humble, positive, and considerate young man who never fights, never gets ahead of himself, and is always positive and considerate. Just how good of a character is he? (lol) Reinhard will also play a major role in Season 2, so stay tuned!
