In any work featuring multiple heroines, a heroine cuteness ranking is unavoidable. "Rent-A-Girlfriend" also features multiple heroines, so I'll be ranking them again this time... but I think the top three characters will vary greatly depending on your personal preferences, so please consider this as just my personal ranking of cuteness (lol).
Fifth Place: Yaemori Mini
In fifth place is the junior character "Yaemori Mini," known for her distinctive double teeth. Haruka is Kazuya's neighbor who moved into the room next door to his (Room 202) about two weeks before Kazuya and Chizuru started their crowdfunding campaign. When they first met, she seemed like a "pesky neighbor" as she scolded Kazuya for talking to Chizuru on the balcony, but she later softened her attitude and became quite an eccentric person, looking up to Kazuya, who continues to have feelings for his rental girlfriend Chizuru, as his "master." She has experience with crowdfunding, is knowledgeable about information on the internet, and becomes a reliable friend to Kazuya and his friends. Like Haruka, she has a headstrong personality! She often gets out of control when she gets her head around something.
Not just cute!? She also has a surprisingly sexy side?
Yaemori's hobby is cosplay, streaming on TwitCasting and YouTube. Naturally, some of her costumes are quite risqué and sexy... When she dragged Kazuya into her room, she was wearing cat ears and a sexy police uniform, leaving Kazuya completely flustered by her sudden advances. Incidentally, she also has a self-proclaimed boyfriend, but he's actually a 2D character.
The main reason I chose Yaemori Mini as fifth place is...
Yaemori is a cute, hardworking junior who can sometimes get out of control. She's cute in cosplay, but she also looks great in a tracksuit. However, she's ranked fifth. I decided on this position even before writing this article. There's one reason... she appeared late in the original manga, so it's unclear whether she'll appear in the anime adaptation. In fact, information about her voice actor and other details has not been released, so there's a chance she won't appear in the anime. That's why I chose her as fifth place.
Fourth Place: Nanami Mami
In fourth place is Kazuya's ex-girlfriend, Nanami Mami! If it were just appearance alone, she would rank higher. She has a great figure, but compared to Chizuru, she seems to have a complex about her bust. When they go to the beach in their swimsuits, she often zips up her jacket while staring at Chizuru's chest. Cute, caring, and the ideal girlfriend... Asami plays the role. Depending on the circumstances, her character may change dramatically in the future...?
Third Place: Chizuru Mizuhara
Our third place pick is the main heroine of this series, Chizuru Mizuhara! She's the rental girlfriend Kazuya first encounters when he uses Renkano. She's so beautiful that people in town start buzzing just by standing there, and she has the perfect personality. She plays the role of a devoted girlfriend and is a perfect beauty, earning all 5-star ratings from users. At first, Kazuya gives her 1 star out of spite, but on their second date, she is so perfect that he gives her an undeniable 5-star rating. As the story progresses, he becomes more and more attracted to Chizuru, and by the end, he is completely smitten, calling her "a weapon that destroys men's reason!!" and "an S-class goddess who has descended upon this world!!"
Mizuhara Chizuru When She's Not a Rental Girlfriend
As a rental girlfriend, she's the ideal S-class goddess, but once the rental girlfriend spell wears off, she transforms into a tsundere character with a tendency to be stern. She's particularly harsh towards Kazuya, and often gives off an unapproachable vibe. But even those aspects of her are adorable, making her charming! You can see her glaring with sinister eyes, or her cat-like gaze when accepting money as a rental girlfriend, and see her in many expressions you don't see when she's playing the perfect girlfriend. Chizuru's kindness and kindness are also a great thing, as she has a soft spot for her grandmothers, regardless of whether she's a rental girlfriend or not.
Second Place: Ruka Sarashina
My second choice is the runaway locomotive, Ruka Sarashina! I was torn between first and second place, but... Ruka's charm lies in her proactive and cute nature! Even though she's only temporary, she's Kazuya's official girlfriend, and she's always keeping a close eye on the women around her. She's also sickly due to arrhythmia since childhood, and the contrast with her strong personality is one of her charms. Among the many heroines surrounding Kazuya, she is particularly hostile towards Chizuru, who is officially treated as his "girlfriend" by Kazuya's family. Because of this, she sometimes makes things awkward by showing off her girlfriend status in front of Kazuya's family.
Ruka's greatest charm is her boldness!
Ruka is like a runaway train, and once she gets going, she's unstoppable! She often takes bold actions, such as taking Kazuya to a love hotel, staying over at his house, and bringing contraception with her when she visits Kazuya. The boldest of them all was the passionate kiss at Kazuya's house! Feeling inferior to Chizuru in every way in front of Kazuya's family, Ruka can't contain herself anymore and suddenly kisses Kazuya when they bump into each other in front of the bathroom. It was quite intense and lengthy... I'm sure this scene thrilled not only Kazuya but also the readers.
1st Place: Sakurasawa Sumi
Topping the cutest heroine ranking is Sakurasawa Sumi, a junior in Chizuru's rental girlfriend! She's an incredibly beautiful girl with slightly thick eyebrows. However, she's also extremely shy, making her completely unsuited to being a rental girlfriend. She rarely speaks, communicating mainly through writing and body language. After being introduced by Chizuru, Kazuya is chosen as a practice partner for the rental girlfriend, but seeing Kazuya's kindness and the way he encourages Chizuru, she begins to fall in love with him.
Sumi's charm lies in her unexpectedly hard work!
Although Sumi is extremely shy and barely functions as a rental girlfriend, she is a charming character who tries her best. When she first meets Asami, she clings to Kazuya's arm and holds his hand in a lover's manner, showing off her girlfriend-like side! (In fact, her actions were completely unsuccessful, causing Kazuya a lot of trouble.) Furthermore, on her second rental girlfriend date with Kazuya, she was so thorough that she even went to the location by herself to do research beforehand. She's surprisingly stubborn and not very athletic, but she has an aggressive side, trying out various sports.
Her indecipherable gestures are adorable!
Sumi is known for her sudden, inappropriate behavior. While she doesn't go off the rails like she's always doing, she often surprises me by sitting down in the aisle without warning or by not being able to communicate well. Her body language is how she communicates with Sumi-chan, and her gestures are adorable! Even if it's impossible to decipher, just watching her playful and lively behavior is soothing. She also frequently points her finger and makes a "kuikuikui" sound, which is quite adorable.
An Extra Heroine?
In fact, there was another heroine who appeared in "Rent-A-Girlfriend." That was Nanako, the main heroine of "Senryu Girl"! Nanako's appearance in the "Rent-A-Girlfriend" collaboration was in a magazine insert, where Chizuru called her "Nanako-chan," suggesting they were very close. While I doubt she'll appear in the anime, it would be great if she made a guest appearance (lol).
