The first season of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury" has ended, but many mobile suits have appeared. Until the second half of this work, the setting is a school, and there were no battle scenes between mobile suits except for duels. Still, attractive mobile suits have appeared, including the Aerial that Sletta rides. This time, I would like to introduce those mobile suits.
XVX-016 Gundam Aerial
The protagonist Sletta Mercury comes to the school from Mercury in her beloved machine (Sletta calls it her family). It is a mobile suit manufactured by the Shinsei Development Corporation, and was brought to Asticasia Technical College without revealing that it was a Gundam. Sletta himself was not told that it was a Gundam, so in episode 7, when Sletta asked Prospera if it was a Gundam, he was stunned when she said, "No, it's a Gundam. Sorry, it's finally been revealed. The Aerial is a Gundam."
What weapons does the Aerial have?
It is equipped with the beam rifle, beam saber, and head vulcan that are familiar to Gundams. One weapon worth mentioning is the "Escutcheon." It is a group remote controlled weapon operated using the GUND format, and is an offensive and defensive system composed of 11 Gambit bit staves, which exploded in the first duel.
Aerial in one
What is noteworthy about the Aerial is that, although it is a Gundam, it does not generate data storms, which is the biggest drawback of the GUND format. Not generating data storms means that there is no burden on the pilot. This means that if the Aerial system can be mass-produced, anyone will be able to pilot a Gundam.
The mysterious Gundam Aerial
You can see that Aerial has an ego in "Cradle of Stars". When Sletta was in a pinch in the duel, Aerial evolved rapidly, and in the duel with Shadik, Sletta and Aerial seemed to be fighting while talking. In the duel with Elan, there was a scene where a girl of time appeared with Gundam Falact surrounded by bit staves, and it seemed to separate. I don't know what that means at this point, but I think Aerial is a mysterious machine that is different from previous Gundams.
XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial (modified type)
The Aerial, which was damaged in the duel with Shadik Zeneli, was repaired at Plant Queta to reinforce it. Before the repair, the Aerial had a rounded body similar to the G-Self from "Reconguista in G". After recovery, its appearance changed completely, becoming a heavy machine that resembled a combination of the Gundam Exciperia and the Gundam Strike Freedom.
What will the Aerial look like after the repair?!
Equipped with wing-shaped verniers, the flight performance has improved dramatically, and the armor has been strengthened, greatly increasing the defensive power around the cockpit. As for equipment, the beam rifle has been strengthened to become a large beam rifle, and when combined with the Gambit, it becomes a high-output large beam weapon. However, its performance has not been fully demonstrated in the first season, and I think that the performance of the Aerial itself has not yet reached its limit at this stage.
MD-0031 Dylanza
This is a general-purpose mobile suit from Jetark. It boasts high power and the mobility loss caused by its heavy armor is made high by the hover unit. As a general-purpose machine, the specifications can be changed, and there are machines that can be customized to suit the pilot or modified for actual combat. It is equipped with a beam axe, beam rifle, beam torch, and chest beam vulcan.
MD-0032G Dylanza Guell's Custom Machine
This custom machine was tuned to reflect Guell Jetark's characteristics and his own wishes. Its most distinctive features are the feathered antenna on its head and the magenta-painted body. It is equipped with a beam partisan, beam rifle, beam torch, and chest beam vulcan.
MD-0031L Dylanza Lauda's special machine
This is a special machine that matches the maneuvering characteristics of Lauda Neil. It looks almost the same as Dylanza, but the eastern antenna is U-shaped and it is equipped with special circular shields on both shoulders. The equipment is basically the same as Dylanza, but it is equipped with a large heat axe whose blade can be used as a shield as a special equipment. In the main story, Guell takes it to a duel with Elan Ceres and fights well, but is defeated.
MD-0064 Darryl Valide
This is a fifth-generation demonstration model developed by Jetark with the assumption that it will be used for next-generation drone weapons. It was prepared by Wim Jetark to win the rematch between Guell and Sletta. It uses an intention-augmented AI that replaces the GUND format, and can turn its limbs into drone weapons, and is equipped with multiple attack drones.
Next-generation machine with plenty of weapons
Darryl Valide is well-equipped with a beam javelin (1 beam anchor + 1 beam kunai), Ishvara Type A, Ishvara Type B (beam cannon / beam saber), Ambika, Shakur Claw, Beam Vulcan, and Pellet Mine. Ishvara and Ambika are attack drones that can be programmed to perform automatic actions using combat data.
An unfinished mobile suit
The drone's automatic actions, which are a feature of the AI that augments its will, are still incomplete and have weaknesses such as being easily lured in by diversions. In the duel with Sletta, Vim ignored Guell's will and put him on autopilot, hurting Guell's pride. In the end, Guell destroyed the AI that augmented his will, switched to manual control, and fought on his own will.
FP/A-77 Gundam Farakt
A mobile suit manufactured by Pale Corporation, it is one of the GUND-ARM (Gundam-type mobile suits). It is equipped with a large movable thruster "Blast Booster" that allows it to move backwards, and the attitude control in the GUND format allows it to move in the same way as in space even under gravity, realizing a powerful maneuverable brain.
What are the weapons of the Gundam Farakt?
Gundam Farakt is equipped with a dedicated rifle with a perception link function with the GUND format, a beam arquebus, a beam saber, a beakfoot (beam cannon), and eight Koraki (a pair of four).
Farakt's "Koraki"
A distinctive piece of equipment on the Gundam Farakt is the "Koraki." It is equipped inside the armor on both shoulders and when fired, it separates into two and moves. Although it does not have a direct attacking ability, it irradiates an electromagnetic beam and disables the function of the part it hits. In actual combat, it irradiates the enemy mobile suit with a mesh-like electromagnetic beam, rendering it unable to act, and then snipes and destroys it.
Unevolved Gundam
Unlike Aerial, Falact generates data storms. For that reason, reinforced personnel like Elan Ceres who can withstand data storms are needed. As Elan said, "It feels like a rough feeling, like a hand is being stuck in your brain," Falact is a Gundam that uses the GUND format that has not evolved at all since 21 years ago, which affects pilots.
CFK-029 Michaelis
A mobile suit manufactured by Grasley Corporation, manufactured on the company's "CF Line". This mobile suit was prepared by Sarius Zeneli for Shadik Zeneli during the duel with the Earth Dorm. By concentrating the equipment in the tactical composite equipment "Beam Bracer" on the right arm, mobility and attack power are increased, and it can also perform interference with anti-dote devices, etc.
An aircraft built to fight against Gundam
The tactical composite equipment on the right arm, the "Beam Bracer", is equipped with a full range of equipment. In addition to a beam saber, beam cannon, beam machine gun beam saber, and wired wires for firing the Beam Bracer, it is also equipped with an advanced version of the "Antidote" wireless drone jamming system for use against GUND-ARM.
EDM-GA-01 Gundam Rubris Ur
This is a GUND-ARM mobile suit used by "Dawn of Faldo". It is a derivative of the Gundam Rubris mass production prototype model developed by Ox Earth Corporation that appeared in "PROLOGUE". The GUND format remains outdated, so a permet score occurs, which puts a strain on the pilot.
A unit that excels at close to medium range
It is designed to excel at close to medium range. I think this is because it is compatible with its wingman, Gundam Rubris Thorn. It excels at fighting in close combat while laying a barrage of bullets with its main weapon, the Gatling gun, and its other weapons include a beam saber, shield, and large beam cutting unit.
EDM-GA-02 Gundam Rubris Thorn
Like Gundam Rubris Ur, this is a GUND-ARM mobile suit used in "Dawn of Faldo". It is also a derivative of the Gundam Rubris mass production prototype model, with small legs and a size of about 14m, making it a small machine among the mobile suits that appear. However, it is lighter and has high startup performance in space.
A machine that excels at mid- to long-range combat
Unlike the Gundam Rubris Ur, it excels at mid- to long-range combat, and is not equipped with a beam rifle, shield, large beam cutting unit, or beam saber, making it a machine specialized for mid- to long-range combat.
Summary of the MS that appeared in the first season
Most of the first season of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Mercury Witch" took place at the school, so there were not many battle scenes with mobile suits, but the unique mobile suits of the companies known as the Big Three appeared, so there were a variety of battle scenes.
