The autumn anime series "Migi and Dali," scheduled to air from October 2023, is a new work by the author of "Sakamoto Desu ga?", which was adapted into an anime in 2016. It is based on a comedy manga that features the same stylish and surreal gags seen in the previous work. However, it is not just a surreal work; it also leads into a revenge story, mystery, and psychological horror, making it a work that will surprise those who thought it would be like the previous work. In this article, we will be introducing spoilers about the plot up to the core of Migi and Dali's story!
Story 1: A Beautiful Boy Adopted by an Elderly Couple
In 1983, in the mountainside of Kobe's Kita Ward, an upscale residential area modeled after American hometowns, an elderly couple who had been unable to have children took in a young boy. The boy's name was "Sonoyama Hitori." The elderly couple warmly welcomed him. Hitori was a truly ideal boy, possessing a very obedient and considerate nature. However, Hitori harbored a secret.
Story Part 2: Two are One, One is Two
In fact, the boy named "Sonoyama Hidori" is not just one person, but a pair of identical twin boys named Migi and Dari. Migi and Dari play the role of one boy together, sometimes switching places, sometimes cooperating, and sometimes acting separately, deceiving the elderly couple and stylishly portraying the ideal boy for them and the people around them. It may seem like two children playing spies, but Migi and Dari have a certain goal in mind.
Story Part 3: The twins' goal is revenge...!
Migi and Dari's goal is to find the person who killed their mother and take revenge. Migi and Dari once lived in this village with their mother, but she was murdered by someone. The reason they are playing one person is because there is only one boy to adopt. Migi and Dari are playing one person together in order to find the person who killed their mother in this village.
Story #4: Their Earliest Memory is a Daphnia-Patterned Wallpaper
The twins' earliest memory is living under a bed in a mansion somewhere in the village, with wallpaper featuring a daphnia-pattern (paisley). They then doodled around the pattern, imagining it as a maze. Migi and Dari search every house in the village to find the daphnia-patterned wallpaper, which must be somewhere there. However, trespassing and searching every house is unrealistic, so they aim to make friends in the Boy Scouts and build relationships that will earn them invitations to their homes.
Story Part 5: Akiyama-kun and Tsutsumi-kun
Migi and Dari decide to visit the homes of Akiyama-kun, whom they met in Boy Scouts, and Tsutsumi-kun, whom they met at a welcome party. They investigate each other's homes. Akiyama-kun is a boy who loves birds and airplanes and has a somewhat heavy heart for his friends. Tsutsumi-kun is a spoiled, high-tech boy who is very selfish, but Migi and Dari make him understand. However, in the end, neither of them are related to their mother's death.
Story Part 6: Migi Wets the Bed at 13
One morning, the two wake up to find Migi wetting the bed. Wetting the bed at 13 is incredibly embarrassing...! If his elderly mother or the housekeeper were to find out, it would eventually spread to the entire village. That would put a stop to his path to revenge, and above all, it would be embarrassing. Migi and Dari use stylish action to do their best to hide the bedwetting. However, it was actually Dari, not Migi, who had been the one wetting the bed.
Story #7: Migi and Dari Infiltrate the Perfect Ichijo Family
In Origon Village, there was a perfect family that everyone longed for. The father was a psychiatrist, the mother was the neighborhood association president, the eldest son was handsome and had excellent grades, and the younger sister was a piano competition champion. The Ichijo family, so spotless that they were almost suspicious, were so spotless that they caught the attention of Ichijo Eiji, the eldest son of the Ichijo family. After successfully catching the interest of the Ichijo family's eldest son, they were invited to live at the Ichijo home.
Story Part 8: Finally Finding the Daphnia-Patterned Room
While Migi is undergoing hypnotic counseling with Eiji Ichijo, Dari searches for clues in the Ichijo family mansion. While Dari is unable to find any clues, the memories Migi awakens through counseling eventually lead the two to discover the room where they once lived. There, they also find their own doodles. The two lived in the Ichijo family's room, and there's no doubt that the Ichijo family is deeply connected to their mother's death.

Story Part 9: Closing in on the mysterious Ichijo family!
After discovering that the Ichijo family is connected to their mother's death, Migi and Dari begin to thoroughly investigate the Ichijo family. By chance, their pet dog digs up their mother's grave, where they find a button. While they don't know what it means at the time, it turns out to be the button Eiji Ichijo lost seven years ago. Suspected of stealing a button, Hidori is invited into the Ichijo household by Eiji Ichijo, where he is imprisoned and subjected to a terrifying education.
Story 10: A Terrifying Education!
Eiji Ichijo's education begins from scratch. In other words, he is forced to dress like a baby and then completely infantilized, a humiliating experience. Even Ichijo's mother joins in, and this education from scratch enters dangerous territory. Dari tries to rescue Migi, but Migi refuses. Migi was embarrassed to be seen by Dari, and by continuing to act like a baby, he hoped to gain some kind of connection with the Ichijo family. Dari, sensing Migi's intentions, searches the Ichijo household to discover their secret.
Story 11: The Ichijo Family's Secret
Continuing his search for the Ichijo family home, Dari encounters the Ichijo family's housekeeper, Micchan, and together they attempt to uncover the Ichijo family's secret. There, he finds dolls modeled after villagers. These dolls are those who had left Origon Village, and among them is one that resembles Migi and Dari's mother. It seems that Migi and Dari's mother was the Ichijo family's housekeeper. The twins discovered a diorama of Origon Village, along with dolls of the villagers and their personal information. The Ichijo family was constantly surveilling Origon Village.
Story 12: Migi and Dari Get Close
Just as they discover the secret, someone enters the room. Dari hides in the room, while Momi-chan goes missing. This hints at the immense darkness of the Ichijo family that the twins are pursuing. Meanwhile, Migi has successfully penetrated the Ichijo family by perfectly masquerading as a child. Migi joins them for breakfast, while Dari, as usual, hides under the table, trying to find out what's going on inside the Ichijo household.
Story 13: The Spotless Ichijo Family
Dari, having crawled under the table, tries to uncover the family's inner workings through Migi's simple questions. While a person can hide the movements of their upper body, they cannot hide the movements of their lower body. Migi's questions allow Dari to explore the movements of their lower body, trying to discover what the spotless, flawless Ichijo family is hiding. The Ichijo family's secret is revealed: the perfect eldest son, Eiji Ichijo, is still wetting the bed, even at this age.
Story #14: Innocent or Innocent?
The Ichijo family's secret is that Eiji sometimes wets the bed, and Migi and Dari's mother works as a housekeeper. So what? Migi and Dari come up with an experiment: dress up as their mother and see how Ichijo's parents react. When Dad sees this, he shows genuine concern and embraces them. In response, Mom's scream was deafening, like that of a ghost. Her father was Shiro, and her mother was Kuro. When Eiji Ichijo happened to see them, he began to recall memories he had sealed away.
