The anime "Megami no Cafeteria," scheduled to air from April 2023, is a romantic comedy about a young man who shares a room with five beautiful employees in order to keep his late grandmother's cafeteria afloat. The series features many charming characters, including the hero and heroine, and I think it could be the next big thing in romantic comedy anime! Today, I'd like to briefly introduce the characters of Megami no Cafeteria!

Character #1: Kasukabe Hayato

Kasukabe Hayato

The protagonist of this series. After losing his parents in an accident as a child, he was taken in by his grandmother and lived with her. They hadn't seen each other since they had a falling out due to certain reasons, but upon hearing of his grandmother's death, he returned to the home and cafe terrace that she had run. He had originally intended to close the cafe and turn it into a parking lot, but after meeting the five live-in employees who were already living there and hearing about his grandmother's final moments and memories, he gave her a year to run the cafe himself. He was a brilliant student who was accepted into the University of Tokyo, but took a leave of absence to run the cafe. He is the type of person who speaks his mind without hesitation, and although he is proud and has a bad mouth, he has a strong sense of responsibility and is generally a good person.

Character #2: Tsukishima Ryusei

Tsukishima Ryusei

She is an employee at the cafe Familia and one of the heroines. She is a female college student and has a distinctive twin-tail hairstyle. While she can be a bit calculating, she excels at charming customers and has a good impression on business partners, making her an excellent waitress. As the cafe's owner, she is a very reliable presence, advising on how to interact with stakeholders. She was actually a child prodigy, and she uses the social skills she learned there. While she was famous as a child actor, her popularity gradually faded and is currently in decline.

Character #3: Ono Shiragiku

Ono Shiragiku

She is an employee at the cafe Familia and one of the heroines. She is a female college student. She has a bob haircut and a modest personality, and like Ryusei, she has a sensible personality. She has a high tolerance for alcohol and gets drunk easily even with a small amount of alcohol. When she gets drunk, she quickly becomes undressed and becomes extremely promiscuous. Her father is a chef at a famous Spanish restaurant and a student of Kasukabe Sachiko, the former owner of Familia. Shiragiku also studied cooking under Sachiko for a while, and is a skilled cook. She is the only one of the five characters who was acquainted with Hayato.

Character #4: Shusui Atsukawa

Shusui Atsukawa

An employee at the Familia coffee shop and one of the heroines. She's cheerful, energetic, and good at sports. She practices karate and is skilled enough to compete in national tournaments, but she's not particularly smart. She often wears strange masks and glasses, and sometimes resorts to parodies of her favorite fighting games and manga, making her a mascot-like character with a comedic role.

Character #5: Momiji Hououji

Momiji Hououji

She's an employee at the cafe Familia and one of the heroines. She has short blonde hair and currently works part-time as a singer and guitarist in an all-girls band. While she's usually cool, carefree, and elusive, she can also be a bit of a coward, especially when it comes to horror. When she's scared, she can be cute and frightened. She comes from a distinguished family, and her family has given her temporary employment as a part-timer and member of an all-girls band.

Character #6: Makuzawa Ouka

Makuzawa Ouka

She's an employee at the cafe Familia and one of the heroines. She's a fashion school student and designed the cafe's uniforms. While the other four characters warmed to Hayato relatively quickly, Makuzawa's stubbornness prevented them from opening up to each other. They would often argue over trivial matters, but they eventually became closer after he complimented her uniform.

Character #7: Sachiko Kasukabe

Sachiko Kasukabe

The former owner of the coffee shop "Familia" and Hayato's grandmother. At the start of the story, she was already deceased, and hired the five heroines, who had nowhere else to go, and let them live in the coffee shop, which doubles as her workplace and home. She took in and raised Hayato, whose parents died in a traffic accident at a young age, but they had a falling out and never saw each other again. However, the legacy of her grandmother has been passed down to the heroines. She spent her final moments chatting with the five heroines, saying she was a little tired and wanted to rest on the kotatsu table, before passing away peacefully in her sleep. After her death, various events leading to the present become clear, making her a central character in this work.

Character #8: Fuwa

Fuwa

A wealthy elderly man who arrived to coincide with the opening of Hayato's coffee shop. He has a sarcastic personality and harbors hostility toward Hayato's coffee shop. He wields his power, making him unpopular with the townspeople, and he was harsh toward Hayato's grandmother, who was struggling financially. It's suggested that he had a relationship not only with Hayato's grandmother, but also with his grandfather.

Character #9: Chiyoda Ririka

Chiyoda Ririka

She's one of the employees hired to work at a new cafe built to take down Familia. Like Ryusei, she's a former child actor and is now an idol-type YouTuber. At the beginning of their conflict, she was fiercely competitive with Ryusei, but forgetting to turn off a stream led to a major backlash, and the remaining four were fired. After that, the four of them moved into Hayato's house together, bought the cafe Fuwa had built, and restarted it as a set meal restaurant. Although she initially clashed with Ryusei, they later became close friends, like sisters.

Character #10: Takasaki Maito

Takasaki Maito

She is one of the employees hired to work at the new coffee shop created to take down Familia. She is a reader model. She has a decadent personality and sometimes seduces Hayato.

Character #11: Moemi Soya

Moemi Soya

She's one of the employees hired to work at the new coffee shop created to take down Familia. A university student, her family owns a famous Japanese restaurant. While she's usually gentle and easygoing, when she puts on her hat, her strict chef personality comes to the surface. It seems her personality changes depending on the hat she wears.

Character #12: Yoshino Aoryu

Yoshino Aoryu

One of the employees hired to work at the new coffee shop created to take down Familia. A part-time worker with black-rimmed glasses, she aspires to be a novelist.

Character #13: Valentina Azuma

Valentina Azuma

She's one of the employees hired to work at the new coffee shop built to take down Familia. She's half Japanese-Brazilian and a free-spirited self-proclaimed traveler. She enjoys martial arts and regularly spars with Shusui, but sometimes gets into trouble by acting violently in tight spaces.

Character #14: Makuzawa Kikka

Makuzawa Kikka

Ouka's twin sister. She looks identical to Ouka and wears glasses. She is harsh towards the cafeteria staff and Hayato, and appears to be strict with Ouka because she ignores her family's policies and lives her life as she pleases. However, in reality, she adores her sister and acts out of concern for her.

Character 15: Momiji Hououji's Mother

Momiji's Mother

A beautiful woman in a kimono, born into the prestigious Hououji family. Her family's policy was to get Momiji to work for the company and marry her. While she appears strict and unyielding, she's actually just worried about Momiji's future. When Hayabusa urges her to show her resolve, she gives him permission to live life as she pleases, and then leaves. She also appears to have met the former owner, Sachiko, and easily sees Momiji's affection for Hayabusa, advising her to win over the woman of the Hououji family.

Character #16: Kasukabe Taiyo

Kasukabe Taiyo

Kasukabe Hayato's grandfather. He was already deceased when Hayato's parents died, and was the owner of the old Familia. Like Hayato, he once employed five live-in waitresses. Those employees were the grandmothers of the current waitresses, and were apparently identical to Hayato in both appearance and personality. He called his employees "private soldiers."

[Goddess' Cafe Terrace] Character Summary

Here's a roundup of the characters appearing in Goddess' Cafe Terrace! The story features many charming heroines, each with their own unique and lovely characters. It has elements in common with The Quintessential Quintuplets, another hit anime serialized in a magazine, and I think it's a work well suited to anime, so I have high hopes for it!
