Joseph Joestar is the grandson of Jonathan Joestar and the protagonist of Part 2. He looks like Jonathan, tall, muscular, and has a strong face. In the story, when Caesar is killed, he shows his passionate side by crying and screaming, even though they usually quarrel. Joseph Joestar is a ripple user, but he can also use stand abilities. His stand is called Hermit Purple, and he can restrain enemies and use electronic machines to telepathically photograph them. Joseph Joestar's stand, Hermit Purple, is a stand that materializes the image (vision) of thorns. By using it as a camera, it can also perform telepathy and find out what the enemy is doing. In Part 4, Joseph Joestar comes to Japan to find the Red Hot Chili Peppers' true form. However, in reality, he is senile and in danger, with his life threatened by Akira Otoishi, the real identity of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He also plays an active role in the story, such as protecting an invisible baby Stand user and risking his life to look cool in front of his son, Josuke.
