Ban comes to the Fairy Forest in search of the "Fountain of Life," which is said to grant eternal life if one drinks it all. He meets Saint Elaine, who protects the spring. Ban is blown away by Elaine's magical powers and survives no matter how many times he falls from heights that would kill a normal human. Elaine says that up until now, the Fairy Forest has refused intrusion by malicious humans. During the battle with the Ten Commandments, Meliodas loses his life when Estarossa crushes all seven of his hearts. However, Meliodas is cursed to go to Purgatory even after his death, and the emotions he was born with while he was alive will be eaten by the Demon King and he will come back to life. Therefore, Meliodas, who was revived, has no emotions, and even when he hugs Elizabeth, he feels nothing. Ban learns that the kind Meliodas has become so sad and is trying to become the Demon King just to break the curse, and decides to go to Purgatory to find out what Meliodas is feeling.
