Gon Freecss, the main character of Hunter x Hunter, becomes a Hunter in order to search for his father, Ging Freecss, and overcomes many life-threatening situations, including being captured by a criminal group called the Phantom Troupe, completing a game created by Ging, and fighting enemies called Chimera Ants.
Along the way, he meets many different people and undergoes training, and the death of his benefactor is something that only Gon, who is so pure and kind, can bear.
We've put together a summary of Gon's journey from the Hunter Exam to the Election Arc.
Gon Freecss Profile

Age 12, birthday May 5th, blood type B, height 154cm, weight 49kg, born in Whale Island, surrounded by nature, raised by Aunt Mito.
Perhaps because he grew up in such an environment, he is pure, straightforward, and naive, and is very well liked by living things.
His Nen type is enhanced, his favorite weapon is a fishing rod, and he passed the extremely difficult Hunter Exam on the first try.
Gon leaves his hometown of Whale Island at the age of a sixth grader or first year of junior high school in the real world to aim for the job of a Hunter, which his father had done. The Hunter Exam is not something that an ordinary person can overcome, and of course there is a chance of death.
Even after learning such information in advance, Gon, who has the drive to take the Hunter Exam at the tender age of 12, despite the warnings of his foster parent Mito, was already out of his element at this time.
Considering Mito's feelings, it seems like it would have been fine for him to wait until he was an adult. From these moments, we can see Gon's character, who, once he makes up his mind about something, he never gives up and moves on.
Gon became a Hunter because of his father, and Mito took away his custody?

Gon believed his father had died in an accident, but when he was eight years old, he met Kite, a disciple of his father, Ging Freecss, and learned that Ging was still alive.
As Gon becomes drawn into Kite's story, he learns that Ging is a Hunter, a profession that involves exploring this world, and that Ging is a particularly skilled Hunter, which gives Gon a strong admiration for both Hunters and Ging.
Just before leaving for the Hunter Exam, Gon learns that his adoptive mother, Aunt Mito, has taken custody of Gon from Ging and is raising him. I think Ging probably approached Mito with the intention of having Mito raise Gon from the start, as he could have easily protected custody if he had been serious and taken to court. Gon kindly tells Mito that he knows this, and what a good boy he is.
And so begins his adventure to find his father, Ging, and pursue the coveted profession of Hunter.

Killua Zoldyck, a genius who grew up in a family of assassins and is the same age as Gon
Kurapika, a survivor of the Kurta clan with scarlet eyes
Leorio Paradinight, an aspiring doctor
He becomes particularly close with these three and will continue to have close ties with them.
He overcomes obstacles such as Tonpa, who crushes new recruits, and Hisoka the magician, and in the final exam, the rules are that if you kill someone, you lose, and if you make someone say they've given up, you win. No matter what happens, Gon refuses to give up and becomes a Hunter.
His best friend Killua is disqualified for killing another contestant, but when he finds out that it was Killua's brother Illumi who made him do it, he heads to Killua's family, the Zoldyck family, to bring Killua back after the Hunter Exam.

Even chasing Killua into the Zoldyck family was a struggle, and he couldn't enter the premises without opening the Gate of Trials, a door that weighed between 4 and 256 tons. If he entered through any other gate, he would be killed and eaten by a monster called Mike, so he trained to build up his strength and managed to open the door. He is truly a hunter, being able to push a 4-ton door with just a little training!
Beyond that, the butler trainee Canary was waiting for him, ready for battle. Gon, who only came to see his friends, is beaten up by Canary without fighting back, but he somehow overcomes it, and beyond that, the head butler Gotoh challenges him to a coin game.
His face is bruised from Canary's attack earlier. Gon tries to clear his blurred vision by draining the blood from his swollen eyelids with a knife, regaining his sight, and with his beast-like dynamic vision, he manages to win the game and reunite with Killua.
Gon, who said he came to see his friends, did not engage in any unnecessary fighting. If it had turned into a fight, he would have been nice and stubborn! If it had been just the Zoldyck family servants, Gon and his friends would have been killed in an instant. They're a fighting group that can easily send coins flying and then heads flying at the same time. It's a frightening story.
Gon finds out that he is an enhanced Nen user at the Arena and passes the Secret Hunter Exam at the same time.

He heads to the Arena, a fighting facility where the stronger he becomes, the higher the floor he can go to, to train and earn some pocket money. Thanks to clearing the Gate of Trials, he was able to easily climb up to the 200th floor, but beyond that he needed to master Nen abilities.
By good fortune he met a wonderful teacher named Wing and learned Nen abilities from him, and Gon's Nen type was an enhancement type with a good balance of combat and healing.
This training was also his final test, which he did not inform the other Hunters about, and he thus officially became a Hunter.
After that, he battled pawn-like enemies and the magician Hisoka before leaving Heavenly Arena.
Gon meets the Phantom Troupe

He heads to Yorkshin to bid on Greed Island, a game for hunters that holds clues about Ging, but Greed Island is too expensive for him to buy. Then he finds out about a criminal group called the Phantom Troupe, which has a high bounty on its head.
While investigating the whereabouts of the troupe, he and Killua are captured by the Phantom Troupe.
Gon is taken a liking to by Nobunaga, a member of the troupe, and is scouted by him, but he refuses and attempts to escape.
After that, he has some troubles, such as being taken hostage again and having the troupe's leader, Chrollo, captured, but he escapes safely and once again works hard to gather funds and information for Greed Island.
In Greed Island, Gon meets his master Bisky and trains to clear the game.

They gave up on buying it themselves and went to the wealthy Battera with the idea of getting hired by the person who had conquered Greed Island, and together with Killua, they successfully got hired.
The world of the game is limited to Nen users, and the things you pick up, the monsters you defeat, the scenery you experience, all turn into cards.
Greed Island is a game played using Nen, so it inevitably attracts strong people. Gon and his friends had only just learned Nen, so they were easy targets for expert hunters. They suffered miserable experiences, such as having their cards stolen and almost losing their lives, but then they met Bisky, Wing's master.
Gon and Killua were forced to become Bisky's disciples, but they were able to level up significantly, and were able to clear the game by fighting Ging's friend called Razor and defeating a player killer called Bomber.
The reward was the right to choose three cards that they had used in Greed Island.
Bisky chose a gem card, and Gon and Killua worked together to get a spell card that allowed them to fly to the target opponent. Of course, the designated target was Ging = Freecss.
There was a time when I thought it was about to end, but Hunter x Hunter accelerates and gets more interesting from here.

It seems that the spell card would fly to Ging if one person came alone, and to Kite if two or more people came, but Gon chose to go with Killua, so he was unable to reach Kite and meet Ging.
While helping Kite with his work, he receives a request to investigate creatures called Chimera Ants.
As the battle continues, he advances deeper and is captured by an enemy executive named Neferpitou. Kite protects Gon and Killua, but loses an arm in a surprise attack from Neferpitou.
Sensing the difference in strength, Kite lets Gon and Killua escape, but he himself dies alone.
Gon deeply regrets his own failure at that time, and a drop of black falls into his pure white heart. His regret for causing Kite's death will continue to grow.

He improves his skills by practicing with Knuckle, a disciple of Chairman Netero, the head of the Hunter Association, and training with Bisky to fight on a higher level, but he falls just short of Knuckle and is rendered powerless by Knuckle's ability to not use Nen for 30 days.
At this time, Kite does not know that he has been turned into a puppet for the Chimera Ants. After learning that he is a puppet, Gon seems different from the Gon he was before.
Gon has been on a date with Palm
Source: HUNTER×HUNTER ©POT (Yoshihiro Togashi) VAP, Nippon Television, Shueisha, Madhouse
Reminiscent of a Japanese horror movie, Palm confesses her love to Gon, who has now started dating him. The woman who appears before Gon has transformed into a stunning beauty.
Although she is usually beautiful, when she gets angry she brandishes a knife and goes wild, which must have shocked viewers. While everyone around her is shocked, Gon is the only one who shows understanding towards Palm, and Palm may have fallen in love with such a kind Gon. The date between Gon and Palm, who can no longer use his powers, was tense.
Even so, it was quite an interesting story that Killua, who seems to be popular with women, is indifferent to women, and Gon, who seems to have no interest in women, is good at dealing with them. I never thought the day would come when I would see the romantic Gon giving a gift of a tree that attracts fireflies.
Gon casually makes a bombshell statement that Whale Island is a fishing boat filled with women who like young boys, so he was there to entertain them, and apparently people like that are called maniacs. In the real world, people like that are called shotacon. I think it doesn't matter whether you remember it or not. Just for reference.

When Neferpitou told Gon that Kite was already dead and that he couldn't be saved, Gon was deeply, deeply in despair. With his anger and hatred at their peak, Gon went off the deep end and transformed into an adult in order to make up for the difference in strength.
Their fighting power was overwhelming, and Pitou was crushed and killed without being able to do anything.
As he grew up, he looked like a bodybuilder and wore skin-tight clothes, so people online started calling him Gon-san.
His fighting ability was impressive, and he may have been stronger than Netero and even the King.
As a result of this battle, Gon fell into a critical condition. It's clear that this was a suicidal attack just to defeat Pitou.
Gon, whose body had become like a mummy, recovers with the power of something.

There was nothing that could be identified as Gon anymore, he was wrapped up in bandages, his skin was extremely dry, and he was so thin that he was almost nothing but bones. He looked like a mummy, and even Killua was shocked.
Just when it seemed like Gon wasn't going to survive, he was instantly restored with the help of Killua's sister, Nanika.
All I can say is that Nanika is just amazing in this regard. Gon also used powers that seemed to shatter the laws of this world, but Nanika was in a class of her own. To be honest, without her I would have had no choice but to waste away and die, so I'm grateful to Nanika. She has a terrifying power.
Gon reunites with Ging, and Kite has become a girl
Source: HUNTER×HUNTER ©POT (Yoshihiro Togashi) VAP, Nippon Television, Shueisha, Madhouse
In the photos, Ging looked mature, but when I met him in person, he looked just like Gon. Maybe his Nen ability has something to do with that appearance.
During this touching reunion, Ging is flustered from start to finish as Gon keeps talking about Kite. As he comforts Gon, he is a typical father and I think Gon senses his kindness.
The audience's comments during Gon and Ging's exchange were so funny that it made me laugh.
Kite is a girl and was born as the king's twin sister.
It seems that it has something to do with Kite's Nen ability, but I think the fact that Kite is alive is a great relief to Gon.
Gon Summary

Gon Freecss, the main character of Hunter x Hunter, was able to complete his journey to find his father, Ging Freecss. His many experiences helped him grow, and his benefactor, Kite, lived in the form of a girl. I really think it was good that he was alive for Gon's sake.
