Killua Zoldyck was a rising star of the Zoldyck family, a legendary family of assassins known for their cold, brutal, and rational thinking, but after meeting Gon, his personality becomes gentler and he no longer kills people easily. At the beginning, he kills death row inmates and Hunter Exam candidates without any remorse, so I think Gon's influence is huge. Gon is always by Killua's side as he grows.
We'll introduce what kind of growth has happened to Killua and what he has overcome.
Killua Zoldyck's Profile
Age 12, birthday July 7th, blood type A, height 158cm, weight 45kg, from the Republic of Padokia, where he lives as the promising young man of the Zoldyck family of assassins. The Zoldyck family is so famous in their country that it has become a tourist attraction.
As Killua grew up in such a family of assassins, he received elite training as an assassin from a young age.
He can kill people with ease, and is immune to both electric shocks and poison. It's frightening to think about the rigorous training he must go through to achieve this.
His Nen type is transformation, his favorite weapon is a yo-yo, and although he failed the Hunter Exam once after killing an opponent, he defeated every other test-taker on his second try and passed with ease.
Was Killua aiming to become a Hunter because he wanted to?
I just thought it would be interesting because I heard it was incredibly difficult.
This line clearly shows that Killua wasn't particularly interested in the Hunter profession, but rather just taking it for fun. It was still early in the exam, so Killua was probably just there for fun.
Later, Killua met his irreplaceable best friend, Gon, during the Hunter Exam, which he had thought was just for fun. He now had a clear goal: to become friends with Gon.
Killua, who had only ever seen the life of an assassin, became increasingly drawn to spending time with Gon. His earnest wish was to become friends with Gon, to become normal friends with him.
But Killua's brother, Milluki, would never forgive him for this. Not only did he threaten to kill Gon, but as we later learn, Milluki implanted a brainwashing needle in Killua's head. This may have had an impact.
Killua completely succumbed to Illumi's brainwashing, killed the other test-takers, and left the venue.
When he took the Hunter Exam again, he defeated all the other test-takers with overwhelming strength, and easily became a Hunter. He was already strong enough to begin with, so for Killua, who continued to train even more, it was probably just light exercise.
I was excited to watch the Hunter Exam arc, but I was really glad that Hisoka and Illumi didn't do the same thing as Killua.
Killua is tortured upon returning to his home, the Zoldyck family
Killua, who had stabbed his mother and second son, Milluki, and left home, was handcuffed, shackled, and hung by chains by Milluki in the torture chamber of his home, where he was tortured with a whip.
Even when he's beaten with a whip and has cigarettes pressed against his skin, he doesn't change a single expression. In fact, when Milluki threatens to lay hands on Gon and the others, he uses his strength to break the chains and warn Milluki.
Even so, looking at Killua's skin, there are quite a few scars, so if we consider that it's not ineffective but rather that it's just endurance, then perhaps this type of torture is commonplace. I was surprised because I thought his skin would be impervious to bullets. However, there didn't seem to be any damage, so perhaps only a thin layer of skin was peeled off.
Still, compared to his mother, who was happy to stabbed her, Milluki, who was inflicting the torture, seems far more human. It's just too scary to think that she'd be stabbed and then be happy that Killua is growing up.
Killua reached the 200th floor of the Heaven's Arena at age 8.
I was abandoned by my father when I was about 6, penniless.
I thought it was pretty intense that a father would throw his six-year-old son into a group of people who make a living through fighting, but the fact that Killua managed to clear the 150th floor in just two months and the 200th floor in just two years is also incredible. Still, I'm curious to know what kind of opponent Killua struggled with when he tried to advance beyond the 150th floor. That's also intriguing, although unfortunately, there's no information about his opponent.
Gon and the others were put off by the story that Killua had quickly squandered the 200 million he'd earned by the time he reached the 200th floor. But now that I think about it, the Zoldyck family was quite wealthy, so perhaps growing up in that environment distorted Killua's sense of money.
Killua learns Nen from Wing on the 200th floor, a floor he didn't reach at age 8.
Even if his father, Silva, told him to go only up to the 200th floor, it's not guaranteed that Killua will listen.
If 8-year-old Killua had attempted the 200th floor without knowing that everyone else was a Nen user, he would have been completely destroyed, and Illumi's needles would have brainwashed him and he would have fled before he could. Thinking about it, Illumi really does seem to be raising his younger brother with care.
Killua learned Nen by opening his 'Seiko' (spiritual pores) thanks to Wing, and I think he was lucky to have found such a great teacher. Just listening to his explanation made it easy for us to visualize what Nen was like. It even felt like it could be used effortlessly, just like Killua and the others. I'm sure you've all practiced Nen at least once, right?
Wing's training consisted of the four great practices, but the feeling that he could use these four - Tai (Mei), Zetsu (Zetsu), Ren (Ren), and Hatsu (Hatsu) - was incredible. He used Zetsu on a friend who'd hidden his presence? Such witty phrases were easy to use, so Zetsu felt especially familiar to him.
According to the water divination technique, Killua's Nen made water taste sweeter, and we also learned that it was a transformation type.
The Transformation type personality test shows Killua to be capricious and a liar, which perfectly reflects his character.
On Greed Island, Killua meets his master, Bisky, and devotes himself to training.
Biscuit Krueger, whom Killua met on Greed Island, was Wing's master.
The days of basic training, along with the even higher level of Nen manipulation that Wing hadn't taught me, were the most enjoyable training I've ever seen.
There was intense combat training using the murderer Binolt, training in Nen manipulation and volume using shovels and carts, strength, endurance, and mental strength, training in tying stones to ropes during rest so that the stones would fall when the tension was released, training to develop combat insight by defeating enemies, and training in manipulating the amount of aura in the body based on advanced grappling techniques called Rururumai. Killua absorbed more than Gon and finished his training even sooner than Gon, showing glimpses of his genius.
Killua became incredibly strong, but for an average person, this training might be enough to end their life. In reality, there were many players lower-ranked than Killua, and after completing Bisky's training, he became one of the top Nen users in the game. His undeniable performance, taking down one of the game's mass murderers, known as the Bomber, while unable to use both hands, leaves other players in awe of his abilities, so his status as a top-class player is undeniable.
Killua's showpiece: the volleyball match against Razor
This may have been the first time Killua fought a formidable opponent without running away. Even though it was a team fight, Killua could have died if Razor had attacked him. In order to get revenge on Killua, Gon and Killua go head-on to defeat Razor fair and square. Considering Killua's brainwashing and his original personality and upbringing, there was no way he could have done anything but run away. This clearly shows that Killua is being influenced by Gon.
Killua didn't choose to surround his hands with aura to prevent the power of the powerful ball Gon unleashed from being reduced. They're already in tatters. Their hands may have grown two or three times larger. It's only because of Gon that Killua was able to get this far. Killua's feelings for Gon are so beautiful it brings me to tears. Love enough to sacrifice yourself, it's just heartbreaking.
Killua trains to gain the strength to fight the Chimera Ants
Perhaps it's because he's a genius that he was able to complete his training so quickly, even when it would normally take a month to extend it by even 10 minutes. Bisky's Nen ability is a terrifying ability, allowing her to get eight hours of sleep in 30 minutes, but even considering that, this was far too quick.
Killua had no practical experience other than aura training, so when he fought Bisky, his face was completely bruised. It was clear that he had been defeated one-sidedly. Bisky then pointed out to Killua how quickly he gave up. She told him that if Killua fought with the assumption that he would run away, he would eventually abandon Gon, so if he lost to Shoot, he should get out of Gon's sight before that happened.
Killua lost to Shoot, but Gon unexpectedly found himself unable to use Nen, so she decided to just watch over him for the time being.
Killua realizes he's been brainwashed by Illumi and lets go
After removing the needles implanted in his head by Illumi, Killua becomes stronger, as if a limiter had been removed.
Killua's overwhelming power, instantly killing enemies who had clearly looked superior until he pulled out, gave us a glimpse of Illumi's overprotectiveness. He sent signals to flee even to opponents who he had the potential to overwhelm. It's amazing how much stronger Killua becomes from this point on. Perhaps it's because, freed from Illumi's curse, he was able to reap the benefits of growth through battle.
Killua's Battle with Palm
Killua had no intention of engaging in a prolonged battle with Palm, who had turned into a Chimera Ant, and was just trying to let her off the hook. However, Killua's emotions overflowed, and he was soon brought to tears. Everyone was probably moved. It was also a great scene when Killua realized that Gon, who was unable to stop his best friend and most important friend, needed Palm. It was also a moment when the two, who had always been at odds, connected.
Killua, who normally doesn't speak his true feelings, suddenly blurted them out here and couldn't stop, but Palm accepted them and encouraged Killua, which perhaps gave him the strength to never abandon Gon and to watch over him wherever he went.
Killua's awakening is too intense in his battle with Youpi
In response to Youpi's attack, which would have been fatal in one hit, Killua moved with the utmost speed, stopping Youpi's movement and overwhelming him. While he wasn't able to defeat him, his strength makes you wonder if he could defeat a human opponent.
Killua has a wide variety of techniques that exceed human reaction times, and if he were to use them in conjunction with the techniques he learned from assassinations, it's easy to imagine who he could defeat.
It's a skill that's perfectly suited to Killua, who fights while calmly planning his strategy. His Nen ability may be unfair, considering his original specs are high.
Of all Killua's fight scenes, this one is the most heartwarming.
Killua uses the Nenika possessing his sister to save Gon
Killua commands Nenika to heal Gon, so he does so unconditionally. Although Nanika can be used without any risk, Killua is aware of the dangers of Nanika's ability.
After Gon's treatment, Nanika tells him not to come out, but Killua, who has become gentle, can no longer do that. It is clear that both his sister Alluka and Nanika love Killua.
At this point, it seemed that Killua had lost the cruelty he first showed.
Gon must truly be a good person to Killua. Although he may be the most troublesome person in the Zoldyck family.
Killua Summary
Killua Zoldyck is no longer a ruthless, brutal, rational assassin. Instead, he becomes closer to being a normal human being as he befriends and lives with Gon.
As mentioned above, all of Killua's emotional growth was triggered by Gon. They overcame a lot together and before they knew it, the two of them had become more than just friends, they had become best friends. It's a beautiful friendship, isn't it?
In front of Gon, he acts like a caring older brother, but I think it's really Killua who is looking after him.
