While this work has become famous through its anime and manga, it was originally a computer game by the doujin circle "07th Expansion." It is a sound novel, directed and written by Ryukishi07. The game, manga, and anime are all divided into a question section and an answer section, and are structured so that the full story cannot be grasped without playing and reading both. The official title is "Higurashi When They Cry," with the "na" in red, and the "C" in the English title "When They Cry" is also in red. The story is brutal and thrilling, something you would never imagine from the cute characters, and it is an excellent horror work. The work has also been made into a pachislot, manufactured by Daiichi Shokai and Oizumi. In this article, we will introduce the specs and features of the Higurashi When They Cry pachislot.
Higurashi When They Cry Pachislot Matsuri (April 2010)
Manufactured by OIZUMI. This machine was the first to feature "Higurashi When They Cry" in the pachinko and pachislot industry.
The main panel is "Ryugu Rena," but panels featuring "Furude Rika" and the Sonozaki Sisters were also sold.
This is a bonus + RT type machine, with the RT lasting 30-150G. It also features a strong technical element, and even with full strategy, the payout is a very generous 102% even on setting 1.
[Bonus Total] Setting ① 1/198.6, Setting ② 1/195.0, Setting ③ 1/189.4, Setting ④ 1/185.1, Setting ⑤ 1/178.1, Setting ⑥ 1/179.1
[Machine Odds] Setting ① 96%-102%, Setting ② 98.8%-104.1%, Setting ③ 100.5%-106.9%, Setting ④ 104.3%-109%, Setting ⑤ 108.4%-112.2%, Setting ⑥ 112.5%-114.5%
[Ceiling] None, but you can enter the Periodic Chance Zone after up to 500G.
The outcome can change dramatically depending on your play! Choice of Fate
After the bonus, you will always enter a CZ called "Suspicion and Distrust Mode." After a Big Bonus, you will enter RT directly, but after a Regular Bonus, the rules are different.
If you hit a bell or cherry before a Fall Replay, RT is confirmed. If you hit a cherry, the RT is 90G, and if you hit a cherry + bonus, the RT is 150G. Hitting a bell here triggers a technical intervention that significantly affects the payout ratio.
Higurashi's white 7 is surprisingly difficult to see, so many people have probably struggled with it. Also, because this is a complete RT, even if a bonus is achieved, it is slightly more advantageous to complete the RT without matching the bonus.
Pachislot Higurashi When They Cry Kira (November 2014)
This is also manufactured by OIZUMI. This is the second installment in the series, released about four years ago.
It is an AT type, and the bonus is a pseudo-bonus (internal AT).
[Bonus Total] Setting ① 1/151.3, Setting ② 1/141.4, Setting ③ 1/139.7, Setting ④ 1/128.6, Setting ⑤ 1/130.8, Setting ⑥ 1/121.4
[Machine Odds] Setting ① 98.2%, Setting ② 99.3%, Setting ③ 100.5%, Setting ④ 102.2%, Setting ⑤ 104.7%, Setting ⑥ 109.1% (At 75% success rate)
[Ceiling] After the bonus ends, the AT is won after up to 999G. The bonus from the deepest part is guaranteed to be a BIG or Oyashiro BIG.
This machine has changed from a real bonus to a pseudo bonus, but the technical intervention element remains intact. Furthermore, the AT machine offers different fun from the original, such as 1G consecutive bonuses and a special zone for adding bonuses, making it a machine with a chance of hitting one hit.
Technical intervention as a relief measure
When the Big Bonus is blown, there's a 1/3 chance of entering "Destiny Recapture Mode." A successful JAC-IN will result in a reversal.
Selecting the left side will result in a low difficulty, with a 75% success rate when playing the right reel.
Selecting the right side will result in a high difficulty, with a perfect hit of the white 7 on the top row of the left reel.
The same series of titles are now available in pachislot!
"Umineko no Naku Koro ni" Pachislot (January 2014)
Although it was only one machine, OIZUMI also released "Umineko no Naku Koro ni," a Higurashi series title.
The gameplay is based on the original "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri."
[Bonus Total] Setting ① 1/197.4, Setting ② 1/193.9, Setting ③ 1/188.3, Setting ④ 1/184.1, Setting ⑤ 1/177.1, Setting ⑥ 1/178.1
[Machine Odds] Setting ① 102.2%, Setting ② 104.1%, Setting ③ 106.6%, Setting ④ 109%, Setting ⑤ 112.7%, Setting ⑥ 114.7% *At full strategy
Higurashi When They Cry Kizuna Pachislot (February 2016)
The third installment in the series is being developed by Daiichi Shokai, the same company behind the pachinko game "Higurashi When They Cry."
It's a bonus + ART type, and unlike the previous titles made by Oizumi, it doesn't feature a mechanism that changes the payout ratio through technical intervention.
[Bonus Combined] Settings ① through ⑥ 1/565 (Same for all settings)
[ART Probability] Setting ① 1/377.5, Setting ② 1/354.5, Setting ③ 1/341.9, Setting ④ 1/291.8, Setting ⑤ 1/253.4, Setting ⑥ 1/218.6
[Bonus + ART Combined] Setting ① 1/226.3, Setting ② 1/217.8, Setting ③ 1/213.0, Setting ④ 1/192.4, Setting ⑤ 1/174.9, Setting ⑥ 1/157.6
[Machine Odds] Setting ① 97.5%, Setting ② 98.6%, Setting ③ 100.5%, Setting ④ 104.6%, Setting ⑤ 109.3%, Setting ⑥ 113.1%
[Ceiling] Up to 40 stage changes between ARTs will result in a win in the ART "Day Break Rush." (Average of 30G per cycle, maximum of approximately 1200G for 40 cycles)
During normal play, players level up by drawing rare symbols corresponding to each stage, and the game features a "Onset Link System" that draws for ART and CZ.
Actually, it came out before the pachinko version?! A summary of the Higurashi When They Cry pachislot
What did you think?
The manufacturer changed to Daiichi Shokai from the third installment, so will the next installment be released by Daiichi Shokai?
Or will it be released by a different manufacturer? It's interesting to watch. The TV anime series will restart in July 2020, so a new series may be coming out soon.
