"Heya Camp△" will be airing as an anime in January 2020. It will be a short anime spin-off of the popular anime "Laid-Back Camp△." As a new anime in the currently very popular "Laid-Back Camp△" series, which has already been confirmed for a second season and a movie, it has been gaining more and more attention recently. "Heya Camp△" was originally a short anime that aired at the end of "Laid-Back Camp△." In this article, we will introduce the cuteness of the previously aired "Heya Camp△." It has an even more laid-back worldview than "Laid-Back Camp△," but what exactly is it like?
Cuteness #1: Just laid-back!
"Yuru Camp△" is popular for its laid-back atmosphere, but its story revolves around the members of the Outdoor Activities Club (or "No-Kuru" for short), who spend their time chatting in the clubroom, eating snacks, and daydreaming about camping 10, 100, or whatever. While "Yuru Camp△" is already laid-back, "Yuru Camp△" feels even more laid-back. We're excited to see what the new anime series will bring, but as it's a short anime, we can expect a laid-back atmosphere.
Everyone's Friends
Outdoor Activities Club has three members: Nadeshiko Kagamihara, one of the two main characters, Chiaki Ogaki, the club's captain, and Aoi Inuyama. Because there are only three of them, the club cannot apply for a club activity, so it operates as a circle. Each member is unique and incredibly cute, making for a heartwarming experience.
Cuteness #2: Chaotic in the Small Clubroom
The Outdoor Club's clubroom is very small. It's more like a warehouse than a small space, a long, narrow room barely large enough for one person to move around. If the club grows, it can apply for a club activity, so a larger clubroom would likely be prepared. However, as usual, the number of members hasn't increased since Nadeshiko, so they're busy in the small clubroom. It may look cramped, but the members seem to be having a lot of fun. It's a bit strange to see them neatly spreading out their camping gear in the small clubroom.
This is what the small clubroom looks like
This is what the clubroom looks like. It's really small! So small that everyone has to sit cross-legged. When Nadeshiko first expressed her desire to join the Outdoor Club, the club president, Chiaki Ogaki, wasn't too keen, as it would make the clubroom even cramped. However, Aoi whispered to her that if they could gather five or more members, the club would be promoted to a club activity and a larger room would be provided, so she allowed Nadeshiko to join.
Cuteness #3: Her imagination is amazing! Leaping forward
The charm of the "Heya Camp△" mini-corner lies in the club members' wildly unrestrained fantasies. The Nadeshiko girls engage in free-spirited conversations in the clubroom, so loose-knit that it's hard not to smile. The looseness of their conversations is so reminiscent of the hugely popular anime "Lucky Star." Viewers have to work hard to keep up with their ever-evolving fantasies.
Thinking About a New Tent
In the first episode, "Heya Camp△," Aoi and Chiaki ponder the lack of demand for winter camping. Shima Rin, the other of the two main characters, enjoys camping during the off-season in winter, aiming for exclusive use, but there's still not much demand. The cold is the culprit, and the two begin to think about a new tent. They debated various options, such as "Let's turn on a fan heater," "Let's add a tabletop so it can withstand hail," and "Let's make the inside spacious and comfortable," but ultimately decided on a kotatsu.
Soba & Udon
The members of the Outdoor Club enjoyed a camping trip in the mountains. Chiaki and Nadeshiko were discussing the large number of soba and udon restaurants along the mountain trails. Aoi then began to explain. Originally, Aoi said, "soba udon," not "soba udon." Written in kanji, it was a restaurant serving rice bowls made with cormorant meat, a dish that had been raised on a diet of buckwheat husks. However, over time, it evolved into the current "soba udon." Chiaki and Nadeshiko were impressed, exclaiming, "Oh really?!" However, this story is a complete lie. Aoi quickly revealed the truth, saying, "That's a lie!" In the main story, Aoi was planning a Christmas camping trip, and surprised everyone by saying, "I'm going to spend Christmas with my boyfriend," before quickly retorting, "No way!" While Aoi is typically the sensible straight-talker, she also has a playful side that's adorable.
Cuteness #4: Rin Makes an Appearance!
While "Heya Camp△" primarily features members of the Outdoor Club, the other main character, Shima Rin, also makes occasional appearances! Rin is usually cool, but fans will be thrilled to see her laid-back side in "Heya Camp△."
Her hairstyle is amazing!
Rin dozes off in the library and accidentally falls asleep. Her friend, Ena Saito, arrives. Seeing Rin asleep, Ena is about to tie her hair up as usual when she suddenly thinks of something. Then, with incredible speed, she starts tying up Rin's long hair. Ena always plays with Rin's hair, but this time, she's really excited about it. When Rin woke up a while later, Ena was gone. Without a second thought, Rin left the library and headed home. However, everyone she passed looked at her in amazement. That's because her hair was pretty amazing: a bun shaped like a castle! She had no idea, but you can imagine her shock when she got home and looked in the mirror.
Who is Ena Saito?
Ena Saito is Rin's friend who's always with her. She's a cute girl with short hair and a warm, charming demeanor. She acts as a mediator between Rin, who is shy and can't express herself openly, and the other members. Rin and Ena are very close, even sending messages from the campsite. In fact, Ena herself seems to have some interest in camping, even saying things like, "I'd like to go." Chiaki actually sees Ena as a keeper special who draws Rin into Outdoor Activities Club activities. However, as of now, Ena remains a member of the After-School Club. On her days off, she sleeps in late and sleeps in, and she lives happily with her pet dog, whose name is Chikuwa. She once accompanied the Outdoor Activities Club on a camping trip, but she prioritized safety and cold-weather resistance over cost, bringing camping gear that was far more expensive than the other members. Furthermore, as mentioned earlier, she enjoys styling Rin's hairstyle.
[Heya Camp△] Cuteness Summary! That sums up the cuteness of the mini-corner "Heya Camp△"! While the "Yuru Camp△" members are already laid-back and cute, "Heya Camp△" has a more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere that's appealing. "Heya Camp△" will be made into a standalone short anime, so we're excited to see what it'll be like. The official visuals show the "No-Kura" members and Rin in the mountains. Anticipation is building for "Heya Camp△" outside the clubroom in the new series starting in 2020. We're looking forward to further official updates. Thank you for reading this far.
