Goblin Slayer is a fantasy series that was adapted into an anime in October 2019. However, unlike the usual light-hearted fantasy, it is a dark fantasy with vivid battle scenes and a slightly sad and realistic backdrop to the story. The story depicts the growth of the protagonist, Goblin Slayer, who once single-mindedly hunted goblins in order to exact revenge, as he gradually begins to desire to become an adventurer. In this article, we will introduce the dwarf dwarf guide who forms a party with the protagonist.
[Goblin Slayer] Dwarf Guide What exactly are dwarves?

Originally, dwarves were legendary creatures that referred to fairies appearing in Norse mythology. The seven dwarves in Snow White were also dwarves. While dwarves are often portrayed as being on bad terms with elves, elves were actually originally a general term for fairies that appear in Norse mythology. In other words, elves are a general term for fairy creatures such as goblins and trolls that also appear in Norse mythology, and dwarves were just one type of elf. In Norse mythology, dwarves are small creatures created when gods bestowed the appearance and intelligence of humans on maggot-like creatures, and in European folklore, dwarves are said to have been born from rock. As a result, there is no gender difference, and female dwarves originally had beards. It is said that the recent perception of elves and dwarves as such was due to the influence of The Lord of the Rings. So goblins were originally fairies, too.
[Goblin Slayer] What kind of character is the dwarf miner guide?

The Dwarf Mentor first appears in this work, along with the Elf Archer and the Lizard Priest, to request goblin extermination from Goblin Slayer, who has become a poet's song. All three are silver-rank adventurers, just like Goblin Slayer. In dwarf tongue, Goblin Slayer is apparently called Kamikirimaru. Come to think of it, there was such an insect. That made me think, but let's leave that aside for now. His personality is typical of a dwarf, he likes alcohol, and seems confident in his opinions. His eye for people is impressive, as he was able to perfectly discern the intention behind the characteristics of Goblin Slayer's weapon. He is 107 years old and a sorcerer. Generally, dwarves and elves are set to be races that don't get along in this world, but these two seem to get along well, despite all that.

Right now, one of the sealed Demon Kings has awakened in the world. To counter this, the Lizardman Chieftain, the human kings, and the leaders of the Elves and Dwarves are holding a meeting to plan how to save the world from this chaos. They formed a party with Goblin Slayer because, perhaps due to the influence of the chaos, goblins have become more active in the elven lands. Perhaps it is precisely because this world is in a time of chaos that they have no time to be fighting with the elves. Furthermore, it seems that the reason the Miner Guide is trying to solve part of the world's chaos as an adventurer is precisely so that he can travel around and eat delicious food.

The Dwarf Mentor seems to acknowledge Goblin Slayer. When they first met, even before they realized he was Goblin Slayer, he commented, "This guy's impressive," as if sensing his strength. They describe Goblin Slayer's personality as being even more difficult to understand than themselves, extremely clumsy, and a skilled craftsman who would drive even a dwarf half insane. They seem to have complete trust in Goblin Slayer's knowledge of goblins, and use magic precisely according to Goblin Slayer's instructions.
[Goblin Slayer] He's surprisingly good at martial arts too!? Dwarf Miner Guide

The Miner Guide is a highly skilled magician. He can use a wide variety of spells, and his number of spells exceeds that of the Priestess. He seems like a capable magician. It was the Miner Guide's skill that dealt the final blow to the Goblin Champion, causing the ruins to collapse. But what about the Miner Guide's martial arts skills? In his first battle with the Goblin Champion, he somehow managed to survive even though he was no longer able to use magic. In the second battle, he showed off his impressive martial arts skills and saved the elf. He seems to be able to take on a few goblins as well. That said, considering that even a rookie adventurer can defeat goblins if they try hard, it seems he's not particularly good at martial arts after all.
[Goblin Slayer] A Famous Quote from the Dwarf Miner Guide, Showing His Concern for His Companions

The group rescues an elven woman who has been captured and brutally mistreated. The Elf Archer, witnessing the tragedy, appears to be mentally devastated. She even shouts loudly, even in enemy territory. Goblin Slayer may be worried about the Elf Archer, but he doesn't have kind words for him. He seems to only have one thing on his mind: hunting goblins. So the Dwarf Guide speaks up, as if the relationship between elves and dwarves, who usually antagonize each other, is completely unrelated. He will make sure that they pay for toying with their brethren. These words calm the Elf Archer, and he recovers and sets out again to hunt goblins. It was a great line, filled with the Dwarf Guide's kindness and consideration.
[Goblin Slayer] Introducing the Dwarf Mentor: Conclusion

A top-class magician, this Silver-ranked Mentor is a powerful character. We'll likely see him in more parties in the future, so we can expect him to perform even better. The Mentor's preference for women is, as expected, dwarves. He seems to prefer voluptuous women of his race, the complete opposite of elves. What a strange combination! Incidentally, in mythology, dwarves' lifespans are said to be roughly twice that of humans, so in this setting, the miner guide is middle-aged. He doesn't seem to be getting any older!
